Emmy Predictions 2010: Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series
In anticipation of the upcoming 62nd Annual EMMY Awards (Airing August 29th at 8PM on NBC) theTVaddict.com is proud [or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out] to once again present our GUARANTEED EMMY WINNERS 2010*
NOMINEES: THE COLBERT REPORT, THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART, REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, TONIGHT SHOW WITH CONAN O’BRIEN.
SHOULD WIN: THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART
In this era of unbridled corporate greed and politicos run-amok that we currently find ourselves in, Jon Stewart — sans Colbert-style ratings stunts — continues to be one of television’s last bastions of common sense, and a damn funny one to boot. Plus, his talented group of cohorts (Including Samantha Bee, John Oliver, Jason Jones, Aasif Mandvi, Wyatt Cenac and Larry Wilmore among others) have finally gelled to the point that we’ve stopped wishing Rob Corddry’s career would tank so that he might return to the show that made him a household name.
Jenny’s TV Guide: Sunday April 27
Sunday marks the series premiere of Celebracadabra on VH1 at 9/8c. This celeb-reality challenge unlike any other. 7 stars team up with 7 professional magicians in a race to become the ultimate celebrity magician. Watch as Celebrity Fit Club host Ant, Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, comedian Hal Sparks, singer Carnie Wilson, 80s icon C. Thomas Howell, Kid N’ Play’s Chris “Kid” Reid, and actress Lisa Ann Walter duke it out while learning tricks that can take the masters years to master. Street Magic, Children’s Magic, Comedy Magic, Cabaret Magic, Strolling Magic, Phobia Magic — our celebs do it (or at least attempt to do it) all. Their work will be judged by a panel of 3 superstar magicians. Each week, one of the celebrities will be eliminated, until the final two battle it out in Las Vegas for our Grand Illusion finale. Sounds fun! I never watch VH1, but with this cast of celebrities, I will have to watch. I love Ant & Hal Sparks!
It’s also the season finales of 3 shows. First up is a 90-minute finale of Celebrity Fit Club on VH1 at 7:30/6:30c (hosted by the aforementioned Ant!), then Big Brother on CBS at 8/7c and finally Tracey Ullman’s State of the Union on Showtime at 10/9c.
Finally, if you were a fan of Day Break, catch a previously unaired episode on TV One at 10/9c!
