In case you haven’t heard, you can actually catch the third season premiere of VERONICA MARS right NOW! Of course, there’s one catch — You have the be an 09er… kidding, the real catch is you have the a PC. So users that own a MAC (the computer, no the character) are out of luck. NO, I’m not a bitter at all. But I’ll never understand how networks can cut deals with web sites to preview television shows, knowing full well a segment of the population can’t watch it. And let’s face it, we all know MAC owners are cooler! Don’t believe me, there’s a whole set of commercials that prove it. So go ahead and enjoy the premiere, Click here to check it out.

Veronica Mars Press Conference Recap
theTVaddict.com is so dedicated to providing the best in television coverage that I missed all of Monday’s must-see-TV in order to participate in a press conference with VERONICA MARS mastermind Rob Thomas and new series regular Tina Majorino (MAC). Okay, so life could be worse, but at least take solace in the fact that I’ll be up really late tonight catching up on PRISON BREAK, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE, HEROES and STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP.
So here it goes, a very detailed recap of Monday’s Press Conference. (I apologize in advance for any typos and grammatical errors)
What is your take on your friendship with Veronica:
Tina Majorino: The friendship with Veronica is one of my favourite parts of the entire show. It’s great to have two really strong personalities getting along so well. They’re [Mac & Veronica] really there for each-other without getting too girly or sorority-girlesque.
Going into college, are we going to see any Neptune Alum show up at Hearst College?
Rob Thomas: We are finding that whenever there is someone we really like we just keep using them and using them again. The president of the fraternity ‘chip’ [who appeared in a few episodes last season] will be back. The best example of this is Ryan Hansen [Dick Casablancas]. He had one word in the pilot and two in the second episode. When we find an actor character we like we tend to just go back to them.
A Great Night of Television: Heroes Premieres & More
Tonight is an exciting night of TV, especially on NBC, where after a summer of hype, HEROES finally premieres (click here to read my HEROES Comic Con Report). Also on NBC, is the second episode of the brilliant STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP, and in this TV addict’s opinion, it’s better then last week’s premiere. Over on CBS, I’ll be watching HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER in the hopes that Marshall wins back Lilly, and PVR’ing (while I watch HEROES), the incomparable Elaine… sorry Christine, in the funniest sitcom with the worst title THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE. At 8PM, I’ll start off my night by watching America’s dumbest, nay, luckiest criminals (Michael Scoffield brilliant move to map out your whole plan on your body by the way) try and escape to freedom with five million dollars. Finally, in the category of ‘simply not funny’ is THE CLASS. Much to my chagrin, I simply haven’t found the first three episodes of this sitcom funny, and may only return when Sara Gilbert (Darlene from ROSEANNE) returns in future episodes.
Fall TV Preview: Thursday Schedule
UGLY BETTY (8PM ABC, Debuts Sept. 28) Historically, Thursday nights have been home to television’s most beautiful faces. We fell in love with Rachel’s hairstyle, Clooney’s eyes and the entire cast of the OC. But come September 28, a girl named Betty is about to change Thursday nights forever.
America Ferrerra (THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS) stars as UGLY BETTY. An ‘ugly duckling’ who lands an entry-level job at Manhattan’s most glamorous fashion magazine (think: THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA). “It’s a makeover show from the inside,” Said Ferrerra to Entertainment Weekly. “Betty is beautiful and charming and intelligent on the inside. The audience will fall in love with her because of that, not because of who she is on the outside.”
ABC has already fallen for BETTY, moving the show from the graveyard of Friday night to the lead-in for GREY’S ANATOMY (ABC’s hottest show). Now all that’s left is for America (the country, not the actress) to fall in love with the show as well. America loves a fish-out-of-water story,” executive producer Salma Hayek told EW, “I have no doubt that [UGLY BETTY] will be incredibly successful.” This TV addict couldn’t agree more. UGLY BETTY, with any luck, will be gracing the cover of magazines for years to come.
GREY’S ANATOMY (9PM ABC, Returns Sept. 21) McDreamy, McVet, Va-Jay-Jay. If these words mean nothing to you, then you’re missing out on television’s hottest, sorry, McDreamiest drama. But rest easy, it’s not too late to jump on the GREY’S bandwagon. The first and second seasons of GREY’s ANATOMY are out on DVD. Pick them up and before you can say McDreamy you’ll be hooked on the best medical drama since ER.
For it’s third season GREY’S is prepared to pull out all the stops to remain on television’s most talked about show. Guest stars already on board include Embeth Davidtz (SCHINDLER’S LIST), Abigail Breslin (LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE) and Diahann Carroll (as Burke’s mother). One return fans shouldn’t expect is that of Izzie’s departed fiance Denny. But SUPERNATURAL creator Eric Kripke is happy to point out, “If you want to see Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in bed, tune in to SUPERNATURAL!” Thanks Eric, we’ll pass that along to Izzie!
THE OFFICE (8:30PM NBC, Returns Sept. 21) The question on every OFFICE fans mind this summer wasn’t who stole the $3,000? (see: THE OFFICE webisodes), it was what’s the deal with Jim and Pam? In May’s season finale, NBC’s hottest couple since Ross and Rachel finally kissed, after Jim surprised Pam by professing his love to her. Creator Greg Daniels promises a resolution [of sorts] in the season premiere, telling the readers of Entertainment Weekly to be sure to tune into the first episode. Like there was a chance we wouldn’t!
THE OC (9PM FOX, Returns Nov. 2) After a critically boring third season, the writers [and fans] of THE OC are hoping Marissa’s death injects some much needed energy into the show. The fourth season, starting late thanks to Baseball will jump forward a few months after Marissa’s death, as we see how the gang has adjusted to College in addition to dealing with the the death of their friend. Not surprisingly, Ryan isn’t handling it well. Rumors run rampant that Ryan will join a ‘fight club’. Those writers really will use any excuse to have Ryan in a ‘wife beater’ t-shirt!
Viewers wary of yet another season of ‘angry Ryan’ should take solice in the fact that the OC writers have promoted two of last season’s bright spots to series regulars. Returning full time is Marissa’s sis Kaitlin Cooper (Willa Holland) and Taylor (Autumn Reeser). Also on board for a guest stint is EVERWOOD alum Chris Pratt (Bright Abbott). Television executives take note: Any show that uses any cast member from EVERWOOD is much watch in our books.
SMALLVILLE (8PM CW, Returns Sept. 28) I have a surprising confession to make, and considering I’m a self professed TV addict, this may shock some of you. Okay, here it goes (deep breath) — I haven’t actually watched last season’s finale of SMALLVILLE. It’s saved on my PVR, but I’ve yet to watch. Why you ask? I’ll tell you.
SMALLVILLE infuriates me. The show has so much potential, and at times can be fantastic. I really enjoy the Clark vs. Lex mythology, while at the same times want to gauge my eyes out everytime Clark and Lana play out their inevitably doomed romantic storyline. Don’t get be wrong, I have nothing against Kristin Kreuk (the actress who plays Lana), it’s just unfortunate that the ‘Lana’ storylines completely suck out all the energy and entertainment from the show.
That said, I’m a sucker for the Superman Mythos and will definitely be tuning into the sixth season premiere.
SHARK (10PM CBS, Debuts Sept. 21) James Wood could read the yellow pages and keep this TV addict riveted. For a full review of CBS’s latest legal procedural, click here.
My Take on TV: Degrassi TNG
“Whatever it takes…I know I can make it through…”
Well, I am officially all caught up on 5 seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation and I could not be happier. What started as an evening of watching the show because I was trying to stay awake one night while babysitting, has quickly turned into an addiction that I didn’t know I would experience for a little show like this!
After having seen the season finale of Season 5, and having turned my roommate into a D:TNG addict in the process, I am so excited for the premiere of Season 6, and I want to reflect on 10 things that keep me coming back to this charming little show –
This Week on TV
Hello TV lovers! First, I want to say that on Monday, it will have been 5 years since the planes crashed into the Twin Towers, Pentagon and the field in Pennsylvania. My mom used to tell me that she remembers exactly what she was doing when JFK was shot. I’m the same way about 9/11. My son was in preschool and I was on the way home from taking him to school when it happened. I rushed home and turned on the tv and computer, to find out as much as I could. I spent hours and hours and hours that day glued to the tv and computer, chatting, crying, being amazed. I was in 45 minutes from Oklahoma City when the OKC bombing occured in 1995, and this hit me just as hard, even though it was further away. Five years later, it is still hard to look back and remember, but on 9/11 of this year, that’s what I’ll be doing. Remembering and praying for people around the world that go through this and worse every day. Now, there is some great stuff on tv this week, so let’s get started!
Sunday starts off the week with some FOOTBALL! Watch NFL Football: Indianapolis Colts at New York Giants on NBC. FOX is featuring the season premieres of their Sunday night comedies, including The Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy and my favorite of the night, The War At Home, in which the kids return to school, Mike has issues with his current romantic interest, Hilary changes her study habits & Larry reinvents himself. Three Moons Over Milford is also new tonight (Alex quits school to work for Michelle Graybar!), and if you are in the mood for remembering, ABC & CBS are showing The Path to 9/11 (Part 1 of 2) and 9/11 respectively. The Wire has it’s 4th season premiere on HBO tonight, along with the series finale of Just Legal on The WB.
Smallville Season 6 Promo
I have a surprising confession to make, and considering I’m a self professed TV addict, this may shock some of you. Okay, here it goes (deep breath) — I haven’t actually watched last season’s finale of SMALLVILLE. It’s saved on my PVR, but I’ve yet to watch. Why you ask? I’ll tell you.

ENTOURAGE: Sorry Ari…
With all the EMMY HOOPLA I haven’t had time to discuss my favourite summer series, ENTOURAGE (Why HBO would air the finale up against the EMMYS I’ll never understand). Sunday’s finale was pretty much the ‘Ari Show’, as Hollywood’s favourite agent desperately tried to save his job. Vince and Eric were not pleased that the ‘Ramones Project’ fell threw, and Ari attempts everything short of whoring out Lloyd to get it back – and save his job. In fact the Ari/Lloyd Banter was definitely the highlight of the episode (see favourite quotes above).
So did Ari end up getting fired? I won’t ruin it for you here (in case you missed it), but you’ll have to wait until the Spring to find out. While ENTOURAGE’S third season is twenty episodes, the second ten will air with the final SOPRANOS episodes in Spring 2007.
KYLE XY Finale Tonight
Tonight is the season finale of KYLE XY. While I haven’t loved the series, I’ve pretty much seen every episode . Why have I subjected to myself to an dumbed down X-Files/John Doe/Lost all summer long? Pretty much because there were no other decent scripted dramas on TV (aside from Showtime’s BROTHERHOOD).
In tonight’s finale, Executive Producer Julie Plec (at the Kyle XY Comic Con Panel) has promised the answers to all of the mysterious questions that have been teased all season long. Namely, Who is Kyle XY? Where did he come from? and the most pressing issue of all, what’s the deal with no belly-button? All I know is that the show better not pull a ‘LOST’ and decide to answer nothing. For a preview of tonight’s episode check out the video below. (I would also be remiss to mention that I don’t actually get ABC FAMILY, so I’ll have to wait until Friday to watch the episode on regular TV! Damn you Canadian Cable Companies!).
LIVE EMMY BLOGGING!
Well, I’m a bit late (had to work, damn you real life!), but I’m finally able to LIVE BLOG from the EMMYS! Okay, not exactly ‘from’ the EMMYS, rather, my living room, with the TV turned on! That said, I’m doing pretty well with my picks so far (seriously, this isn’t about winning the EMMY Pool). I’m 3 for 4 on picks! Stay tuned…
