Snap Judgments: $#*! MY DAD SAYS, MIKE & MOLLY, HAWAII FIVE-0, THE DEFENDERS & BLUE BLOODS
According to the CBS official Description: $#*! MY DAD SAYS, based on the popular Twitter feed by Justin Halpern, stars Emmy Award winner William Shatner as Ed Goodson, a forthright and opinionated dad who relishes expressing his unsolicited and often wildly politically incorrect observations to anyone within earshot. Nobody is immune from Ed’s rants, including his sons, Henry, a struggling writer-turned-unpaid blogger; and Vince (Will Sasso), the meek half of his husband/wife real estate duo with domineering Kathleen (Nicole Sullivan). When Henry finds he can no longer afford to pay rent to his pretty roommate — and secret admirer — Sam (Stephanie Lemelin), Ed reveals a soft spot and invites Henry to move in with him. Henry agrees, knowing that the verbal assault will not abate and now there will be no escape. Describing their father/son relationship is tricky – but Ed will easily come up with a few choice words.
According to the TV Addict: Despite our lack of enthusiasm for this 140 character comedy (and no, we’re not just bitter that CBS has yet to come calling for $#*! @THETVADDICT SAYS. Okay maybe a little!) old is most definitely the new black. Which is why William Shatner, Betty White’s male Hollywood equivalent will soon be making room on his very crowded award shelf for a Best Male Actor in a Comedy Emmy. FRINGE: Whose Side Are You On?
If FOX’s goal in relegating FRINGE to one of the most competitive time slots in the history of television — that of 9PM on Thursday up against GREY’S ANATOMY, CSI and to a lesser extent SUPERNATURAL — was to make executive producers J.H. Whyman and Jeff Pinkner try harder, well then mission accomplished.
Last night’s first part of FRINGE’s two-part season finale which had Olivia and Walter round-up a group of Krypto Cortexiphan Freaks Patients in an effort to transport themselves to the Alternative Universe and rescue Peter — who thanks to a very-Rambaldi-reminiscent document (ALIAS FTW!) may-or-may-not be used by those on the Other Side as a weapon to destroy our world — was one of the most exciting hours of television the series has produced to date.
Snap Judgments: NBC Picks Up THE EVENT, LOVE BITES & OUTSOURCED
With the May UpFronts just around the corner, NBC continues to get a leg up on the competition by awarding early season pick-ups to new series. Official descriptions, photos and obligatory snap judgments of which can be found after the jump.
Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Questions with FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, PARENTHOOD Showrunner Jason Katims
As much as fans have hated having to say goodbye to many of our favorite Dillon Panthers, would it be safe to say that the choice to have some of your original cast members graduate has resulted in some of the show’s strongest episodes to date?
Jason Katims: I think that in the third season we kind of made this decision that we were going to let go of some of our cast members. It was a really hard decision but we realized it wasn’t going to be good to have them hang around and be window dressing. So for Gaius Charles and Scott Porter we wrote these storylines for them that wound up being incredibly powerful. So when it came to the fourth season I felt — as sad as it is to do this because I love every member of the cast and feel lucky to work with them — I also knew that I could say with conviction that we were going to be able to tell a great story this way because it really does energize the writers into doing something good, knowing that they have to tell a big story about someone [Zach Gilford, Minka Kelly] in four episodes.
For those of us who do not subscribe to DirecTV, when we last left FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, Coach Taylor was forced to move from the comfy confines of Dillon High to East Dillon High. Where you at all apprehensive about such a big change in scenery for our favorite coach/father?
No. The move to a new school, to a new population and to a new part of town has really reinvigorated the show. We have four new incredible series regular cast members (Matt Lauria, Michael B. Jordan, Jurnee Smollett and Madison Burge) who have just stepped up and are all wonderful and at least to my mind are different then the characters that have come before it which just makes things very exciting and helps to keep having the show feel like its a retread and we’re revisiting the same stuff.

This Just In: GLEE Isn’t the only Show Airing a Big Episode Tonight (V Star Joel Gretsch Reveals Why!)
After months of anticipation, promos and hype… he’s back. No, we’re not talking about Mr. Schuester, seriously people, there are other shows on the air tonight aside from GLEE! Rather, John May, who you may have heard, lives. And here to talk about tonight’s much-anticipated John May reveal, among other things, is V series star Joel Gretsch.
What can you tease about John May?
Joel Gretsch: John May is played by Michael Trucco [BATTLESTAR GALACTICA], who is terrific in the role by the way. He is an integral part, he really influenced Ryan. I remember reading this episode, loved it and thought it was beautifully written. I sent an email to [Executive Producer] Scott Rosenbaum and the writers saying, “It’s very emotional!” The episode just reveals so many things and I think solidifies the resistance. We begin to understand more and more about each other. Even though we’re trying to accomplish the same goals, we don’t know each other very well — especially Hobbes. The episode is kind of like the epicenter, and it’s going to be very exciting.
Ask the Addict: Spoilers on GLEE, UGLY BETTY, VAMPIRE DIARIES & More!
Since I know you probably can’t spoil what goes down in tonight’s LIFE UNEXPECTED season finale (Yes CW, you heard me, season finale!), can you at the very least let me know if we’ve seen the last of Lux’s almost boyfriend Jones? With apologies to Bug, I’m totally on #teamabercrombie! — Jessica
The TV Addict: If it’s Austin Butler you want, we’ve got some bad news for you. According to sources, and by sources we’re of course referring to the internet movie database, Jones’ invite to tonight’s big LIFE UNEXPECTED wedding may have gotten lost in the mail. But, the good news is that if things go according to plan, you may be seeing a lot more of Mr. Butler next season if the CW picks up BETWIXT, a pilot he’s shooting alongside Jessy Shram and Morgan Bower which revolves around three teens who discover they’re actually changelings. Of course that shouldn’t stop you from watching our favorite CW show’s season finale tonight at 8PM.
As much as I’m trying to keep holding on, tomorrow night is too far away! Please give me some scoop on GLEE’s return to tide me over. — Amy
The TV Addict: Well, since you asked so nicely, you’ll be happy to know — complete with musical numbers that are already stuck in our head (thank-you-very-much All-American Rejects), Sue Sylvester one-liners that we’re still laughing at, and guest stars that well, defy gravity — Tuesday’s return is quintessential GLEE. And best of all, it’s only the beginning. In fact, of the first three episodes we’ve been lucky enough to screen including the highly-anticipated Madonna one, it might surprise you to learn that the third episode, which shines the spotlight on Mercedes packed the biggest emotional punch and truly solidified this show as something special.
An Open Letter to ONE TREE HILL Fans
Dear ONE TREE HILL fans,
The results are in and you’ve done it again. Thanks to your grass roots organizational skills that would make the GOP blush, you’ve secured your favorite show a top five position in E! Online’s Annual Save One Show Campaign alongside BETTER OFF TED, CHUCK, LIFE UNEXPECTED, and PARENTHOOD. That’s the good news.
The bad news is the purpose of this letter.
In a nutshell: Seven [Seasons] are enough! Seriously. You had a good, heck, great run. But now it’s time to bow out gracefully. Our reason, assuming you haven’t already clicked away from this website and cursed our name in effigy, will be clear after the jump.
Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Questions with V Star Joel Gretsch
After TAKEN and THE 4400, was there any apprehension to signing on to another science fiction series?
Joel Gretsch: I think there was a little bit. After TAKEN — with Steven Spielberg who is a friggin’ genius — I thought, where do you go from there? But then I got to audition for this very compelling character driven show and even though we have this wonderful technology and a spaceship, it’s really about a mom who has a son who doesn’t listen to her. Sci Fi is the backdrop. So yeah I had a little trepidation, but this show is fantastic, the cast is amazing, on ABC with Warner Bros. production, people are watching it, we have all the tools for a great show.
