Jenny’s This Week on TV

Busy weekend ahead! Sick husband, lots to do before Thanksgiving, when we head down to Oklahoma to visit my family. What are your plans? Not a lot of time so will get right to it!

SUNDAY
On Sunday, why not spend the night watching some comedy on FOX? At 8/7c, watch The Simpsons. Lisa helps Moe become a published poet, but when a literary conference features him, he takes all the credit for his success.

Then at 8:30/7:30c, stay for American Dad when Steve’s new relationship with his girlfriend gives Francine empty nest syndrome & Roger tries to enroll in college with Haley.

At 9/8c, stay for Family Guy. Lois volunteers to teach a sex-ed class at the high school when she learns that Chris has some incorrect information on the subject.

Then finally at 9:30/8:30c, the only one of the 4 I watch is The War at Home. A “Girls Gone Wild” video upsets Dave; Larry tries to replace swear words with the word “love.” This show is so wrong that it’s too funny not to laugh.

I can’t forget to mention the season premiere of Reba on the CW network! There are 2 new episodes tonight. FINALLY! 🙂 In the first, called Let’s Get Physical, Barbra Jean shows off her new sleek figure and staunch dedication to the gym, which Brock fears is about spending time with her male trainer. In the second, called Just Business, Houston’s premier real estate agent (Tim Meadows) contacts Reba and Van for a meeting, exciting Reba but concerning Van that he will be her assistant. These start at 7/6c, not the normal primetime hour, so be aware! (Unless you are here in Kansas, and then you have to catch it at 10/9c after college basketball.)

At 10/9c, flip over to ABC for Brothers & Sisters. Sarah, Tommy and Kevin find William’s most shocking secret when they set out in search of his lost treasure; Justin makes a startling revelation about his enlistment when he returns from the hospital.

Thursday TV Thoughts

There was so much TV on last night that between GREY’S ANATOMY, THE OFFICE, THE OC, 30 ROCK and UGLY BETTY I could crash my site’s server talking about my favourite moments. So here it goes, random stream-of-conscious thoughts about some serious TiVo worthy moments.

THE OFFICE
Finally, another ‘Michael Scott Joint’ as Michael tried to initiate the new Office denizens with another video titled ‘Lazy Scranton’. I love how Michael seems to take pop culture moments and rip them off months after they were actually cool! How much would I love to see the entire ‘Scranton Witch Project’ — NBC post it online.

Loved how the Stamford Office ‘Black Guy’ tried to bond with Stanley

Forget Jim vs Dwight, that was so last year. The new Spy vs. Spy is Dwight vs. Andy, I can’t wait to see what THE OFFICE writer’s have in store for us. I wonder who will win in a battle of wits? Future Andy or Future Dwight?

The Pam and Jim reunion…. akward. Loved Pam’s reaction to the camera when she finally realized that Karen is the new Pam (hmmm, tshirt idea anyone?!)

The Big GILMORE GIRLS Twist

We all knew it was coming, it’s been talked about for months, and last night I finally got around to watching the big GILMORE GIRLS shocker ‘French Twist.’ You know, that little episode where Lu.. sorry Christopher and Lorelai tied the knot in Paris (honestly, the words ‘Luke’ and ‘Lorelai’ flow so much better on the page!).

One problem though — the show is ruined until February. They’re married, it’s done, the whirlwind romance is over. What’s really left for Lorelai and Chris? Absolutely nothing. Viewers will now have to endure a crumbling marriage until February sweeps, where Lorelai will inevitably realize that her impromptu marriage was an enormous mistake and that Luke is really her true love. How many more episodes until February?

On the Lane and Zac front, I have to say I’m surprised by how much I enjoy their relationship (Lorelai and Rory take notes). That said, I’m flabergasted by the stupidity of these two. I don’t know much about raising a child, but can you really support twins on a waitress/band member salary? And why is Mrs. Kim so supportive, what happened to Lane going to college? Of course Lorelai did raise Rory while working as a maid in the Indepenance Inn, and look how that turned out. Pregnant woman take note, Stars Hollow seems like a really supportive town to raise your single family!

Jenny’s This Week on TV

Big news again in tv land this week, what with the shows that were given full season orders and the ones pulled from the schedule. And I’m pissed off that Kidnapped is gone. I didn’t get to watch ep 6 while it was on NBC.com and now ep 7 is up, so… Oh well. Guess I’ll stop watching. No point now. :-/ So let’s see what’s on this week that will likely get cancelled before we have a chance to get into it even more! *hrumph*

SUNDAY
On Sunday, watch The Amazing Race on CBS at 8/7c. A challenging Roadblock requires players to stay calm in a claustrophobic setting; one team jumps in front of another in the taxi line. So last week’s big deal about pairing the teams together wasn’t all that exciting. Here’s hoping this week keeps em hopping!

At 9/8c, stick around for Cold Case. The death of a postal carrier leads to the discovery of several bags of undelivered mail, one of which contains key evidence in a 1975 missing-persons case. Last week’s episode was really good, imo, with the brother admitting he was molested as a kid! Wow…

At 10/9c, stick around for Without a Trace, again on CBS. A woman (Susanna Thompson) takes Jack hostage while he is under cover at an illegal poker club; the woman, a dangerous acquaintance of a missing 20-something man, believes that Jack was hired to kill her. The previews showed Jack really getting worked over and beaten up. Hope he isn’t too hurt tonight!

90210 Watch: The Truth About Season 5

If you’re like me (and live in Canada), you’ve no doubt been re-living your youth by watching BEVERLY HILLS 90210 from the beginning on TVTropolis. Since June we’ve seen all the classics: Donna Martin Graduate, Kelly and Brenda fight for Dylan’s love, Steve continue to lose his hair, David falling into the world of drugs, John Sears, the Fraternity, Claire, Dylan’s unexpected new family, Jesse Vasquez, Donna proclaiming her eternal virginity, … well you get the idea.

Of course this week, everything changed. Just as our anticipation for the fifth season and the introduction of Valerie Malone (the incomprabable Tiffani Amber Theissen) reached a fevered pitch, episodes of 90210 travelled back in time to the series premiere?!?!?

Wanting to get to the bottom of this, theTVaddict.com contacted TVTropolis directly. Dan Kenning, the publicist for TVTropolis was kind enough to respond to my email.

We [TVTropolis] currently only have the rights to Seasons 1-4 (aka The Brenda Years). Under the terms of our CRTC license, we’re unable to air scripted programs that are less than 10 years old –so while we’d be unable to air the eps that were produced between ’97 and 2000, that still leaves us with the opportunity of acquiring a few more seasons of the series (Valerie!). Our programmers are looking into it for 2007, so I’d advise the faithful to stay tuned for further updates. (We have plenty of in-house fans of the series here, too.)

Some additional 90210 info I can share: there will be another marathon on Dec 9, this time featuring Shannen Doherty-centric episodes.

So folks you heard it hear first. For the immediate future, Valerie Malone, Brandon and Kelly’s relationship, and the quick and sudden death of Dylan’s wife Toni will have to wait for a few more years.

Horn Rimmed Glasses Talks HEROES

Thanks to a spy inside NBC, the TV Addict recently came across a great interview with the man who is simply known as “Horn Rimmed Glasses” on NBC’S newest hit HEROES. Here’s what now series regular Jack Coleman had to say about being television’s newest villain (or is it hero?).

When asked whether the myseterious character of “H.R.G” is a good or bad guy, Coleman always answers with authority: “Yes”.

On the pilot script, Coleman knew HEROES had tremendous potential. “Even when I got the pilot script, HEREOS already had a tremendous buzz behind it in the industry. And as soon as I saw myself put on the giant horn-rimmed glasses, it was very scary — I looked like my dad, circa 1968.”

On his character “H.R.G”, “I see my character as someone who could be either good or bad, but definitely creepy. That’s the operative word. He’s a guy caught out of time, like a refugee from the Cold War in the 1950s. H.R.G.’s default position is to plot – he doesn’t know any other way.”

Amrie’s Take on TV

“Always a bridesmaid…”

Did you ever find yourself watching a show and thinking “Okay, enough with the main character, give me more of that secondary story!!!”?

I never noticed it more than I did last season as I often begged for Summer Roberts scenes, as opposed to Marissa Cooper scenes on The O.C. Already, season 4 of The O.C. is, as I’ve said, levels above where Season 3 was, and I truly believe it’s because they’re giving Rachel Bilson the chance to take center stage since they axed Mischa Barton.

It gets me thinking – what other “second-bananas” would I love to see take the reins and run with the show?

BROTHERS & SISTERS: The Rules

After last night’s episode, I think I’m ready to proclaim BROTHERS & SISTERS my new favourite show of 2006. Wait, or is it STUDIO 60 or HEROES? Okay, let’s just say that BROTHERS is in my top three. That said, I thought I’d offer up a few rules for my dear readers, in case you ever stumble upon the Walker Clan.

Rule #1: The food may be fantastic, but never, I repeat NEVER, accept an invitation to the Walkers for dinner. You’ll invariably end up in the middle of an incredibly akward family fight that will have members of the family asking to be excused early. For the record, I can’t believe Tommy asked his brother Kevin for a ‘donation’. What seems like a good idea now will no doubt lead to an incredibly sticy situation in the future.

Rule #2: There are no secrets in the Walker family. Spill something to one family member, the entire family will inevitably find out (over dinner!). How Saul thinks ‘Rebecca’ would remain a secret is ludicrous. Casting recommendation for BROTHERS & SISTERS executive producer Greg Berlanti. Please cast (EVERWOOD ALUM) Emily Van Camp as Holly’s not-so-secret daughter.

Rule #3: Choose your rendezvous spots carefully. Be it the family ranch, the attic, or the old tree house. With upwards of 10 family members walking around, odds are you’ll get caught, that, or fall out of the decades old tree house!

Rule #4: This will seem obvious, but judging from last night’s episode, it’s worth repeating. If any of you readers are having an affair — do not take photos of your secret love-child and leave them around for your family to uncover. Photographic evidence of your affair will only lead to heartbreak, or one messy divorce.

The TV Addict Interviews HEROES Adrian Pasdar and Milo Ventimiglia

This past Tuesday, also known as Halloween, the TV Addict had the chance to talk to HEROES stars Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli) and Milo Ventimiglia (Peter Petrelli). Not surprisingly, both actors who play ‘make-believe’ for a living didn’t dress up for Halloween. But they did have some very interesting things to say about being part of the fall’s newest hit show.

Did you ever imagine HEROES would become the hit it has?

Milo Ventimiglia: The pilot script was different then anything I’d read in a long time. It was a huge departure from the misfit younger characters I’ve been playing [GILMORE GIRLS, AMERICAN DREAM] which I was definitely excited about.

Adrian Pasdar: The moment I had an idea [that the show would become a hit] was at July’s San Diego Comic Con. The fire marshall came over to Jeff Leob (HEROES Executive Producer) and told us that we have too many people in the hall and we’d have to shut down. Jeff said, “You go tell them they can’t watch the show.” At that moment, I realized we’d have an initial shot at a large audience and it was up to us to deliver.

Milo Ventimiglia: The overall response has been positive. I’m starting to hear things from people on the street or my friends, asking about Nathan. It’s nice to know that hopefully we’re doing our jobs well enough that people are talking about the show.

Adrian Pasdar: It’s nice to be a part of the water-cooler conversation.

Jenny’s This Week on TV

I’m so tired. Long week in the life of Jenny. Hopefully this week will go better. Let’s see what tv I have in store to help me with that!

SUNDAY
On Sunday, I’ll be watching The Amazing Race again this week at 8/7c. A new twist to the game shocks the racers and prompts teams to join forces; the racers struggle to complete an unappetizing task of consuming a local delicacy. I think the Cho brothers have to pair up with the blond bitches. I’m OOOOH so not looking forward to that! lol

At 9/8c, switch over to ABC and check out Desperate Housewives. A hostage situation at a supermarket changes everyone’s lives. Like last season, I am not watching this season either. But for those that are, what do you think happens? I’ve heard someone gets shot, and I’ve heard differing opinions on who people hope/think it will be. What about you guys?

At 10/9c, stick around for Brothers & Sisters, again on ABC. Kitty and Warren’s weekend in the country turns out to be anything but quiet; unable to conceive, Tommy and Julia consider unorthodox alternatives. For those Everwood fans, Treat Williams is back and I’m hearing as good as ever. I love me some Dr Brown!
