In looking at the ratings for the week of October 29-November 4th, I’m oddly bouyed by the fact that IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN drew 11. 4 million viewers. Maybe there’s hope for humanity yet if that many of us can take time out to spend a little time with the Peanuts gang, right? Even better, Charlie Brown and company kicked the crap out of SINGING BEE, which was immediately sent on “hiatus.” (Normally, I’d make a joke about how we all know that’s TV-speak for “never to be seen again”, but with the writer’s strike, a more accurate translation might be, “See ya when we run out of other crap to show.”) Like the folks at ABC, I’d be happier if more people were tuning in to PUSHING DAISIES, which only managed about 8.6 million eyeballs, putting it in 40th place for the week (out of 118 shows). That means as many people are watching ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER as this charming show, which seems to somewhat ironically answer the question posed by the reality offering’s title. Given how well football did this week, I wouldn’t be surprised if those looking to counterprogram the strike try and convert more of us into athletic supporters (tee-hee). On the cable front, NIP/TUCK topped the scripted fare (coming behind football on ESPN and wrestling on USA), followed closely by… wait, no, this can’t be right. I LOVE NEW YORK? Seriously? There goes all that good will Charlie Brown and company had me feeling. Finally, anyone who thinks men and women are created equal should know that when it comes to the top five shows watched by those in the coveted 18-34 year-old demo, only HEROES made both lists. Among women in the demo, the top five shows were GREY’S ANATOMY, HOUSE, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, PRIVATE PRACTICE and HEROES. For the men? SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (shocker), FAMILY GUY, HEROES, THE SIMPSONS and THE OFFICE. Notice that shows like DANCING WITH THE STARS and 60 MINUTES — each of which are in the top five shows in overall viewers — don’t appear on either list? Yet the networks continue to insist that those over the age of 34 don’t matter. That’s a huge chunk of the audience being basically ignored…

24 Delayed, FOX Announces New Schedule
In light of the recently announced strike by The Writers Guild of America, FOX has revised its lineup for January and the remainder of the 2007-2008 season. (The new schedule is subject to change, pending resolution of the strike.)
The highly anticipated drama TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES will have a two-night premiere on Sunday, Jan. 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) and Monday, Jan. 14 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), the show’s regular time period. PRISON BREAK, which has its last November airing on Monday, Nov. 12 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), returns to Mondays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) beginning Jan. 14.
The seventh season premiere of 24 is being postponed to ensure that “Day 7” can air uninterrupted, in its entirety.
Channel Surfing with C.T.
You know what? I’m thinking it’s time for us — the viewers — to go on strike. Our list of demands?
1) Original programming year round.
2) No more of those damn banner ads running along the bottom of the screen telling us what’s on next, or tomorrow or next week. Make good shows and we’ll tune in without the reminder.
3) A limited number of hour of reality shows per network per week.
4) A promise that any new show you put on will have at least 13 episodes in which to win us over. If you won’t commit, why should we?
5) A return to the days when soaps told stories built around romance, family and relationships as opposed to mobsters, building collapses and children in jeopardy.
6) An end to show-stopping product placements. There’s a place for advertisements… it’s called the commercial break.
7) Programming that starts and stops on the hour. Monday night’s ABC line-up had SAMANTHA WHO airing at 9:45 and THE BACHELOR following at 10:08. Seriously? 10:08? That’s the month and year a credit card expires, not a start time.
Those are my demands. Any you’d like to add?
Exclusive Interview: HOUSE Stars Omar Epps and Jennifer Morrison
The TV Addict [left] with Omar Epps at the Fox Fall Launch Party 2007
Recently the TV Addict had the opportunity to chat with HOUSE stars Omar Epps and Jennifer Morrison. Here’s what they had to say about a slightly lighter workload, what fans can expect this season, and the brilliance of Hugh Laurie.
The TV Addict: Let me start off by saying, [to Omar Epps]. The moment when your character died on ER…. WOW! One of the best moments ever.
Omar Epps: [Laughing] Thank you. It’s been a long time. Time flies.
Were you at all apprehensive to play another doctor on television?
Omar Epps: Not at all. When I signed on to do ER, it was only 10 episodes. But HOUSE is a completely different show. We built something from the ground up.
How different has the start of this season been for you as actors, as you give up screen time for an entire slew of interns?
Jennifer Morrison: It’s been kind of exciting. For 3 years we’ve been doing very similarly structured episodes, a very procedural show. But this season the writer’s have really mixed it up.
Omar Epps: Since we knew we were coming back to the show [and weren’t really fired], it’s been cool!
Has it been strange having the workload of say, co-star Robert Sean Leonard?
Jennifer Morrison: As much as I love working, it’s a nice balance this season. I get to sleep a bit more and have a little more of a life.
My Take on TV: The Season So Far
Howdy folks. Is it just me or does it feel like forever since we did some bonding over our favorite shows and how they’re doing this season? Where do you stand on what we’ve seen so far? Here’s how it shakes out for me:
SUNDAYS
DEXTER is still the king of the Sunday night TV for me. Michael C. Hall is phenomenal. How he didn’t get the Emmy, I’ll never know. I’m on the edge of my seat over every episode, and I just love the Bay Harbor Butcher storyline, and Lundy, and even Deb. I can’t wait to see who finds out Dexter’s secret first!!
Who is loving BROTHERHOOD as much as me? It’s such a gritty drama – it’s incredibly underrated. I’m obsessed!
I’m still getting a kick out of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES this season. The Halloween episode didn’t fail to delight. I like when a show gets back on track. Marc Cherry realized they went a little haywire, and he got them back on the train.
BROTHERS & SISTERS is one of my favorite shows on TV. There is nothing this Walker family can’t handle, and I’m just excited that the show isn’t afraid to cover controversial topics and show how a real family might deal.
So glad THE AMAZING RACE is back! And I’m beyond thrilled that Ari and Staella were the first two gone. What horrible people they appeared to be!
I’m mad at CBS for not having more of a promotional push for their 100th episode of COLD CASE The show is far superior to a lot of stuff currently on the air, and it was a charming little episode about a murder from the 30s.
I’m also sure to catch SHARK whenever I can. It’s on the TiVo and it makes for good need-filler-while-I’m-waiting-for-other-shows-to-come-on viewing.
Jenny’s This Week on TV
Welcome to a new week for This Week on TV! The writers’ strike is beginning Monday. It’s a scary thing for an avid tv viewer, isn’t it? Thinking that come January, all the shows we are loving atm may not be here! But, for now, they are, so enjoy!

Betty Does Broadway
Did I love last night’s extended commercial for WICKED UGLY BETTY Broadway Adventure? Absolutely. Did it bother me that as a slightly obsessed fan of WICKED, the show tried to pass off LA’s Pantages theatre for New York’s Gershwin? A little bit. Was I mortified by the wicked example Betty and Henry set for theatergoer/cellphone users everywhere? You bet.
But putting aside my Justin level theatre nerd tendencies. Last night’s UGLY BETTY yet again had me laughing out loud thanks to Wili’s attempt to gain 6 pounds [“Find out what Betty is having for lunch and order me two.!”]. Marc’s endless one liners [“Wilhelmina treats all white people like slaves. Something about payback.”] and Daniel’s reaction to when Betty assumes he’s going to ‘off’ Henry [“Why do you always go there with my family?”]
That said, is anyone else thinking Betty and Gio are a far cooler couple than Betty and Henry? I wonder who she’s going to end up taking to Wili’s wedding next week?
The Writer’s Strike For Dummies
If the writer’s go on strike in the coming days, what happens to [insert my favorite show] here?
Thankfully, the strike will have little effect on the remaining 2007 television season. November sweeps will continue as planned, with December filling out with your regular mix of Holiday specials and reruns. The problem starts in the new year. When shows run out of completed scripts and programs.
If the strike continues for an extended period, what will networks air?
Expect a lot of reality television and game shows, which don’t traditionally rely on the written word [shocking, I know!]. Other possibilities should the strike continue into the new year include networks running British shows [ie. Ricky Gervais’ version of THE OFFICE], cable shows [NBC could run cable shows within the NBC Universal family — BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, MONK] and of course sports.
Why is the Writer’s Guild of America going on strike
The short answer — Money. The longer answer involves me spelling out over two dozen contentious issues, the most important of which include:
1. The Home Video Market. WGA members want a larger share of the profits from the booming DVD market.
2. The New Media Market. Currently WGA members are not compensated properly for their work in the digital world. The WGA would like a larger share of the developing digital downloads, online streaming and cell phone video markets.
What’s going to happen to theTVaddict.com?
Rest assured, this TV Addict isn’t going anywhere and will endeavor to inform you on all the latest strike related developments. The only difference being that I’ll be doing so drunk! No LOST, BROTHERS & SISTERS, 30 ROCK and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER means more time with an old friend… Jack Daniel’s.
But seriously, if you have anymore questions, feel free to post them in the comments below.

Amrie’s OFFICE CONVENTION Wrap Up
Amrie with BJ Novak
Hey gang. First things first, I want to apologize for no updates this morning! I was in my hotel room for a total of 5 hours between Saturday morning at 9AM and Sunday morning at 7:30AM. I was out and about in Scranton; various Q&As, walks around town, taking in the local sights, meeting up with cast members and writers, and chatting with fellow bloggers.
Some Friday things to take care of – Craig Robinson is and always will be my favorite. Darryl is awesome. At the end of Casino Night, he was still okay with getting one last picture in. Also – I chatted with Ed Helms for a little while about our interview from over the summer. He is not cousins with Wes Helms. He just didn’t want to correct me back then ha! He was a gem, and I cannot believe I had the luck of not only standing near him, but getting to stand with his arm around me for a darling picture on my phone.
Saturday morning was horrible, weather wise. It was pouring. Pictures in the pouring rain was not an easy task. The Office was playing all over town, so I got the chance to catch up on old episodes. Ended up at the Steamtown Mall for the Uncommon Stakeholder’s Meeting. Craig (Darryl, my absolutely favorite person ever), Oscar, and Andy Buckley (David Wallace, CFO) participated in a mock board meeting. Craig was hilarious, Oscar and Andy were, too. It was packed.
From there, we headed to see Creed play with the Scrantones in the middle of the University campus. You know those stories Creed comes up with on the show? He does it in real life. He let us know that when he was a child, he was orphaned, and then adopted by a Chinese family and long story short, that’s how he lost a toe (I’m pretty sure he made that up…though I did hear him tell that story twice). He may tell crazy stories, but his guitar playing is phenomenal!
