90210: TNG Spinoff Details Emerge

Today’s Variety has leaked more details on the CW’s planned spin-off of BEVERLY HILLS 90210.

According to a casting breakdown, 90210: TNG will focus on the Walsh Mills family as Harrison “Harry” Mills decides to leave Minnesota St. Louis along with wife Celia to look after his ex-actress alcoholic mother Tabitha Mills.

Enter the 16 year old Mills twins. As per the casting breakdown, Annie is a theatre nerd [think Brenda, the University years] and Dixon is a supersmart bad boy [or a carbon copy of Dylan McKay]

How LOST, HOUSE, ONE TREE HILL and REAPER Should End the Season

Thanks to the recent WGA Strike, writers throughout Hollywood must now working feverishly to complete five or six new episodes by season’s end. With that in mind, this TV Addict thought he’d lend the proverbial hand and offer up some possible plot ideas for a handful of our favorite shows. You know, because there’s no such thing as a bad idea.

It’s time to face the facts. Claire must die. Not only can you count on one hand the amount of screen-time Emilie de Ravin has accumulated this season [two hands if you’re counting last season]. You know it’s time to go when your non-speaking infant offspring [Baby Aaron] generates more passionate debate, online speculation and fan reaction than you do.

SCI FI Greenlights GALACTICA prequel CAPRICA

During yesterday’s Up Front in New York City, the SCI FI Network officially announced that Ronald D. Moore and David Eick had been given the greenlight to shoot CAPRICA, a two-hour backdoor pilot prequel. According to the official SCI FI press release:

Set 50 years before Battlestar Galactica, Caprica follows two rival families – the Greystones and the Adamas – as they grow, compete, and thrive in the vibrant world of the 12 Colonies.  Enmeshed in the burgeoning technology of artificial intelligence and robotics that will eventually lead to the creation of the Cylons, the two houses go toe-to-toe. Caprica will deliver all of the passion, intrigue, political backbiting, family conflict and hardcore action that always leaves Galactica fans begging for more.

Jenny’s TV Guide: Tuesday March 18

Tuesday marks the series premiere of the comedy Miss/Guided on ABC at 10:32/9:32c. It stars Judy Greer (Love Monkey & Arrested Development) as Becky Freeley, a woman working as a guidance counselor at the Glen Ellen High School which she once attended. She tries to help guide the students so that they will cope with high school better than she did. She also interacts with other teachers and Principal Huffy (Earl Billings, Thank You For Smoking). It also stars Kristoffer Polaha (Jason on North Shore & many guest starring roles on big name shows like House, Tru Calling & more), Brooke Burns (Baywatch & North Shore) & Chris Parnell (30 Rock & Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy).

Don’t miss another new episode of Jericho on CBS at 10/9c. Beck uses extraordinary measures to show Jake and the town of Jericho that he is in control of the town. Hawkins gets a call from Chavez. This is the next to final episode, I believe, so we need EVERY VIEWER WE CAN GET!

We Preview THE RICHES Season Two

FX continues to crank out the good shows as they get set to roll out seven new episodes of THE RICHES, starting with the Season 2 premiere, Tuesday, March 18.

If you didn’t watch Season 1 or need more enticement to watch Season 2, here are some reasons to tune into the premiere:

Eddie Izzard – the man of the house, Wayne Malloy (Doug Rich). He is ridiculously intelligent, terribly loyal, and constantly trying to get out of a bad situation that only gets worse as it goes. He is funny, yet painfully good at playing a father saddened by the need to fix things for his family. And he can give a monologue that makes you want to rise up with fists.

Minnie Driver – the matriarch, Dahlia Malloy (Cherien Rich). I was not convinced she had it in her until I started watching this show. She is powerful, and devastating and inspiring, all rolled into one. Watching the now-clean Dahlia try to keep her family together is really interesting. In Season 1, it was all about the family staying together once Mama got out of jail. In Season 2, it’s about getting the family back together after everything that they went through.

I’ve been a TV Addict forever, watching hours of TV when my mom told me not to. One of my favorite characters ever to grace the small screen is Samantha Micelli from WHO’S THE BOSS?, played so wonderfully by Alyssa Milano. I recently had the great pleasure of catching up with Alyssa to talk about her new Lifetime movie airing this weekend.

The movie, called WISEGAL, is the true story of Patty Montanari, a widowed mother, trying to make ends meet, who in doing so, joins the mafia. Alyssa portrays the title character with strength and vulnerability. James Caan and Jason Gedrick costar in a movie that fits the mold of a Lifetime film – the kind that gets you all teary-eyed – but goes above and beyond that to make you really think about what you would do for your family.

I love the movie. Lifetime has been doing some really great stuff lately.
Alyssa Milano: Yeah, it’s definitely, it’s interesting. It’s an interesting combination. It’s definitely a movie that Lifetime audiences will enjoy because the crux of it is a single mother trying to make ends meet.

What made you want to play Patty?
There were a lot of elements. When I first read the script, before we started production, I just felt like I had a really good grasp on who she was. And what motivated her to make the choices that she makes. And also, I think it shows the mafia in a way that we’ve never seen before, through the eyes of a woman. What that enabled us to do was to really show a side that where it cares about family and about being accepted in a family and about feeling protected and taken care of. And I think that because Patty never had those things, it was very attractive to her.
