SUPERGIRL Sneak Peeks: Reactivated
The Girl of Steel faces adversity on three fronts tonight, both as SUPERGIRL and her alter-ego, Kara Danvers.
Arriving in town to face off with SUPERGIRL is the radioactive Reactron.
After being overexposed to radiation poisoning, Ben Krull (played with a touch of “sympathetic badness” by SONS OF ANARCHY’s Chris Browning) morphed into Reactron, a villain who can generate concussive radiation blasts from his body.
When his radiation-containment suit is damaged, Reactron lands in the lab of green-tech entrepreneur, Maxwell Lord (recurring guest star, Peter Facinelli), and takes Lord hostage. Lord determines from Reactron’s skin desquamation and respiratory distress that Krull is quite ill as a result of exposure to nuclear radiation and offers to help. Krull insists that the genius billionaire repair the containment suit or become a casualty.
To accomplish the rebuild, Maxwell requires caesium-137 (a fission product from nuclear reactor waste), the radioactive metal, thorium, and the plasticizer, tributyl phosphate…none of which is available at the corner market and may require some special help to obtain.
But, SUPERGIRL (Melissa Benoist) may be too busy to lend a hand. In a departure from Cat Grant’s (Calista Flockhart) ode to “girl power” in the pilot, the media mogul seems intent on writing a crushing exposé rather than an empowering story about the new hero.
Grant’s reaction to SUPERGIRL ranges from “ho-hum” to slight disdain until she learns that the young woman is Superman’s cousin.
Then, there is the other type of monster, a green-eyed one, which Kara may face in her “regular person” life. Potential boyfriend, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) has a visitor…ex-flame Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum). As he already stated, there was a time when he would have done anything for Lucy, who is Lois Lane’s sister.
So what will the ex bring to the mix? How will James react to having Lucy around again? Is the party over for James and Kara or is it just getting started? One thing is certain…there will be a party tonight, and Kara’s dressed in green with her dancing shoes donned.
SUPERGIRL also stars Chyler Leigh as Kara’s sister, Alex Danvers, David Harewood as DEO boss, Hank Henshaw, and Jeremy Jordan as CatCo colleague and friend, Winn Schott. Other guest stars tonight are Jay Jackson, Briana Venskus, John Churchill, Majeed Nami, Pilar Holland, Nischelle Turner, Nerlyn Jean and Joshua Triplett.
This week’s episode, “Fight or Flight” was written by Michael Grassi and Rachel Shukert and directed by Dermott Downs (THE FLASH, ARROW, GOTHAM, THE ORIGINALS).
SUPERGIRL airs on November 9 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

We Shine The Spotlight on JANE THE VIRGIN Star Brett Dier
It’s not hard to fall in love with Michael Cordero from The CW’s fan favorite, JANE THE VIRGIN. He’s kind, endearing, a bad-ass when necessary, oh and he rescued Jane’s baby. Over the course of the twenty-something episodes in the shows run we’ve seen an incredible amount of growth from our favorite detective. The man behind this fearless character is the incredibly talented, Brett Dier. I caught up with the hilarious and exceedingly nice actor about his initial reaction to reading the Pilot, his character Michael, and what we show’s he is loving on TV right now.
Now in it’s second season and stronger than ever. Did you ever think looking back at the first time you read the Pilot people would love the show as much as they do? What was your initial reaction to reading it?
I honestly had no ideabecause I try not to expect anything in this industry because when you expect things you tend to get heartbroken. (Laughs) I tried to just take it as a job, one day at a time. I knew that the Pilot was really good but I tried not to hope for anything more than just doing a goo Pilot. I didn’t want to be heartbroken if it didn’t get picked up, but I knew the Pilot was really interesting and a different kind of show than anything I’ve ever seen or read.
Michael isn’t the stereotypical detective that you usually see on TV. He’s very soft spoken and easy going. What drew you to him as a character?
Michael’s a really interesting character, he’s a detective but he’s also a very vulnerable guy. He’s not just a straightforward, “here’s some information” type of guy. The moments with Jane are really important to show that side, and the moments with his detective work he has to be very intense about things. That balance was really cool to figure out, that was one thing I was excited to do. People say he’s like a puppy dog, but when it comes to his detective work he doesn’t turn into a puppy he’s like a different kind of dog. (Laughs) Finding those two things was really cool to do, I just love telling Michael’s story, I’ve never been this close to a character before in my life. Playing a character for almost two years is really kind of cool.
How do you think Michael has grown since the first season? I mean do you think if she doesn’t choose him that he could ever move on?
I think he’s grown a lot; he’s become more secure going through this. The whole pregnancy thing made him really insecure in his head about everything but now he’s more secure. But I don’t think his love for Jane is ever going to go away. He can still love his life and move on if she doesn’t choose him, he’ll be okay but he will always care about his person and I think that’s selfless love. That doesn’t exist too often and I think Michael has that selfless love towards Jane, it’s like love without possession.
Obviously you’re a bit biased but who do you think would be the better match for Jane? Rafael (Justin Baldoni) or Michael?
(Laughs) Honestly I think that Michael is better for Jane. Rafael’s a great dude, I love Rafael! I mean, Brett loves Rafael, Michael hates Rafael. (Laughs) I think he knows her more and he’s always been there, even through the worst things. Not a lot of people would bounce back when something happens like this in a relationship. He doesn’t have to still be there, he could have been mad and could have just forget about her, because he’s a selfless person he’s going to help her no matter what. I think Jane needs somebody like that in her life. Michael and Jane’s life couldn’t get worst, going forward he’ll always be there because it’s already been at it’s worst.
Clearly Michael has a tougher side when he’s doing his detective work, what can you tease about the the Sin Rostro case. Will we see anything crazy with Rose (Bridget Regan) in the coming episodes?
This season is pretty intense! I think Michael’s personal life gets the lowest it could possibly can. It couldn’t get any worse. The Sin Rostro story develops to a point that becomes insane. Lots of twists and turns. It’s definitely a dangerous place for Michael to be.
Petra’s (Yael Grobglas) having a baby. What was the reaction to that during the read through, it must have come as a shock to all of you on the show? What was the reaction to that storyline during the read-through?
I started laughing (Laughs) because how can more stuff go down? Justin who plays Rafael was really surprised. Everyone had a lot of different reactions.
What shows are you loving on TV right now?
Being my girlfriend just started VEEP, that’s really great. Do you watch that show?
I do! It’s so great.
It’s so good! I love it, I really love LOUIE, that’s one of my favorite shows of all time. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT and BREAKING BAD were my two favorite shows, and I started watching BOJACK HORSEMAN. I think RICK AND MORTY is the best cartoon ever made, and SOUTH PARK, because I love nasty humor.
You can watch Brett on JANE THE VIRGIN tonight at 9:00 on The CW.

SUPERGIRL Sneak Peek: What’s In Store For Season 1
SUPERGIRL flew onto the screen and into ratings super-stardom on Monday night, and CBS has posted a sneak peek clip about what viewers can look forward to this season.
Among series premiering this fall, Live+Same Day ratings show that the SUPERGIRL debut tied with another Greg Berlanti series, BLINDSPOT, in key demos and led all new shows in total viewers.
SUPERGIRL averaged a 3.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 12.95 million viewers overall during its pilot debut and it retained 70% of the young-adult audience of THE BIG BANG THEORY.
Live+3 and Live+7 may increase those numbers as the Girl of Steel was up against competitors, THE VOICE and DANCING WITH THE STARS, two series that lend themselves to watching live as there is limited-time voting by viewers.
Favorable reviews from the media indicate the frosh series has a bright future, as does the explosion in the Twitterverse for #Supergirl.
So what does that future hold for Kara Zor-El/SUPERGIRL? Answers to our “burning questions”, like her relationships with James Olsen (Mechad Brooks) Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan) and Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum), are previewed in the clip, and the casting of Henry Czerny as Winslow Schott as Toyman/Winn’s dad clears up one of the queries.
SUPERGIRL moves to its regular timeslot at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Monday, November 2 on CBS.
Global TV Sent Us a SUPERGIRL Cape. THIS Is What Happened Next!
After months of build up, SUPERGIRL is hours away from taking flight.
Created by Ali Adler (NO ORDINARY FAMILY, THE NEW NORMAL) and Greg Berlanti/Andrew Kreisberg (The brains behind The CW’s growing group of heroic shows including ARROW, THE FLASH and the upcoming LEGENDS OF TOMORROW), SUPERGIRL is a bit of a departure from the doctor/lawyer/cop procedurals that have contributed to making CBS the most popular network of the past decade. As such, the Tiffany Network has spared no expense in an effort to alert audiences to the fact that Melissa Benoist (alongside a ridiculously cool supporting cast including Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, Mechad Brooks and Jeremy Jordan) will be donning the iconic “S” tonight.
Related: SUPERGIRL: Burning Questions For The Coming Season
Up here in Canada (Fun Fact: Superman was originally created by Canadian Joe Shuster), one would have to be living in their own version of Superman’s “Fortess of Solitude” to miss the seemingly never-ending collection of commercials that broadcaster Global TV has employed to promote the show. Needless to say, when it comes to launching a super-hero franchise worth potentially hundreds of millions of dollars, no building is too big too big, or mailer to small.
Mailers like this SUPERGIRL cape that Global TV recently sent to the TV Addict.
Of course, what Global TV couldn’t have possibly known was that this isn’t the first time this TV Addict has donned the iconic “S.” Flashback to an early birthday…
(Evidently, our version of “Superman” was a bit more in line with Adam West’s Batman. I think we’re doing some sort of “Batdance,” here, not really sure!)
In fact, unlike our passion for Transformers, becoming the next Patrick Roy and WWF wrestling, our love of all things SUPER has really stuck with us over the years…
And since my nephew already had his own outfit covered…
This TV Addict had no choice but to pass this cape down to the super-est girl we know. Meet “Mac!”
At first, she was confused…
But eventually, she got with the program.
Especially when we started throwing a stick.
She would retrieve them, dare we say, faster then a speeding bullet?
Until she started running so fast, she actually flew!
Seriously. Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg… should Melissa Benoist ever need assistance in protecting the world from evil — and, you know, her “cousin” isn’t available — Mac is only too happy to lend a hand, or paw.
Bonus Points: Being exceptionally patient while I attempted to photograph her JJ Abrams lens-flare style.

SUPERGIRL premieres tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT following THE BIG BANG THEORY and then moves to its regular timeslot, 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, on Monday, November 2 on CBS (Global TV in Canada)
