Our friends over at BuzzSugar just posted a great challenge in order to test how much you know about what’s in development for Fall ’07. Click here to guess which pilots are real and which are fake. For the record, theTVaddict scored high enough to become a ‘network intern’. Which I’m okay with, assuming my boss isn’t one of those egomaniacal Hollywood types who like to throw things.

Can YouTube Revive a Failed Pilot?
YouTube is quickly becoming the go to website for failed comedy pilots hoping to be resurrected by vocal fans. Bill Lawrence gave NOBODY’S WATCHING a second life when he ‘leaked’ it onto the internet and now Jon Stewart’s hoping to do the same with THREE STRIKES.
THREE STRIKES is excutive produced by Jon Stewart and is written by writers who’ve worked on FRASIER and LARRY SANDERS. Click here to check it out and be sure to come back to theTVaddict.com and comment on whether or not Comedy Central made the right move to pass on the pilot.
Thanks to TVTattle for the Tip
TV Pilot News: FRASIER Back In Action
It looks like two of TV’s most-missed sitcom stars – Kelsey Grammar (FRASIER) and Patricia Heaton (EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND) will be back on the small screen this fall in the comedy ACTION NEWS. The show features the duo as an anchor team being reunited at a local TV station. FOX obviously has fate in the show, which was written by Christopher Lloyd (WINGS) and Steven Livitan (JUST SHOOT ME), as evidenced by their giving the as-yet-unproduced pilot a 13-episode commitment. Of course, the show was almost guaranteed to be picked up by someone: Written on spec, Variety reports that ABC, CBS and FOX were engaged in a bidding war for the property.
In other casting news, SIX FEET UNDER alum Peter Krause will star in ABC’s steamy new drama, DIRTY SEXY MONEY. Krause will play an attorney who winds up representing an “ethically flexible” family. (This bit of casting news would seem to indicate that THE LOST ROOM – which the actor starred in for the Sci Fi network – probably won’t, as predicted, be making the jump from mini to full-fledged series.
Rejected Pilots Find Life Online
Hoping to be the next NOBODY’S WATCHING, rejected pilots are popping up all over YouTube in droves. According to Variety, at least four failed pilots from the 2005-06 development season have ended up online. The pilot leaks are inspired by the fact that Bill Lawrence’s NOBODY’S WATCHING was recently picked up by NBC after being rejected by the CW, after it gained a large following on YouTube. Needless to say, TV Exects are not happy, and the pilots are generally removed within hours of being posted.
Aquaman Pilot Review
In a move that I can only hope becomes more common place among networks, Warner Bros. Studio has recently made the un-aired pilot of AQUAMAN available for download on iTunes for $1.99 [click here to download].
In the premiere episode, we’re introduced to A.C. Curry (Justin Hartley), who by the end of the episode, discovers he is actually the long-lost prince of Atlantis and is pretty much the only man who can save both the human world and the underwater one (Atlantis). Thrown into the mix is a mysterious mentor (Ving Rhames), a Government agent, a love interest (of course!) and a step-father (Lou Diamond Phillips).
So did the show warrant a place on the new CW’s schedule? This TV Addict says YES! (not surprisingly, the show is far better then 7th HEAVEN!). Overall the pilot was enjoyable and as most successful pilots do, properly introduce us to our hero and supporting players. The episode was shot beautifully and lord knows in the cold of winter, I’d be more then happy to spend an hour a week in beautiful Tempest Florida. Yet the question is, could writers Millar and Gough (SMALLVILLE) really dream up enough adventure to ensure AQUAMAN remained interesting for 100 epidodes. Sadly we’ll never know, but I think it would have been pretty great to find out.

Fall TV Pilots Leaked
The internet is abuzz with speculation that the big four Networks have secretly leaked some of their pilots online to generate some positive buzz for the upcoming Fall 2006 TV season. As of this morning, saavy TV fans can find offerings from ABC, NBC and CBS (THE CLASS, SHARK, and JERICHO from CBS, THE NINE and TRAVELER from ABC, and HEROES from NBC)
Naturally the powers that be won’t comment on whether this grass roots marketing campaign is actually just that – a cleverly planned move by the networks. Or a genuine error in TV Pilot security. It’s this TV addict’s opinion that this is a brilliant move, regardless of the cause. Positive buzz is being generated from these pilots – especially in the case of NBC’s HEROES, ABC’s THE NINE, and CBS’s JERICHO.
Pilots can be found across most BitTorrent networks, or download from the two sites below: http://eztvefnet.org or http://www.mininova.org

WB Pilot Rises from the Dead
Ever wonder what happens to TV sitcom pilots when they aren’t chosen to be on a Network’s Fall Schedule? Or, after viewing some truly awful network comedies (ie. Rodney, Modern Men etc.) do you ever wonder how ‘bad’ the sitcoms must have been that weren’t picked up? Well now is your chance to check out a WB pilot that was left to rot in the pilot cemetery.
Ironically titled, NOBODY’S WATCHING – was “Truman Show” like sitcom from the genius behind SCRUBS (Bill Lawrence – along with two FAMILY GUY writers). The show was pitched to both NBC and THE WB, and recently found its way on youtube.com. Creator Bill Lawrence is thrilled with the unexpected attention, “It’s validation for me because it proves that we weren’t completely crazy.”
