Do you remember the days when you had to wait each week for a new episode of your favorite show? Sure, those days still exist now on network television, but streaming services like Netflix has done away with the week-by-week model and introduced fans to “binge racing”.
“Binge racers” are Netflix viewers who strive to speed through an entire season within 24 hours of its release.
Since 2012, 8.4 million Netflix members have Binge Raced throughout the work and between 2013 and 2016 the amount of launch day finishers increased more than 20 times over.
“There’s a unique satisfaction that comes from being the first to finish a story — whether it’s the final page of a book or the last, climactic moments of your favorite TV show.” said Brian Wright, Vice President, Original Series. “Netflix allows you to watch in a way you never could before, and there’s nothing better than seeing a show engage our members and ignite a passion for viewing.”
While Binge Racers are watching fast in pursuit of glory across the globe, Canada clocks in with the highest percentage of 24 hour finishers. Their binge of choice is the national treasure TRAILER PARK BOYS.
