Try as I might, one nagging feeling has been tickling my brain all season: this is not the Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) that we know and love. At first, she did not even try to be. She was Lexie Dewitt (Emily Rose). Then after Jennifer (Emma Lahana) opened the portal door back to Haven, Maine, Lexie reverted back to Audrey. Her personality in the barn as Lexie was stripped away and revealed the person that she wanted to be: Audrey. [Read more…]

HAVEN Central: Part Two of Our Exclusive Interviews with Star Eric Balfour and Writer Shernold Edwards On Season 4’s Surprises
As HAVEN fans saw in last week’s episode “Crush,” Duke (Eric Balfour) and Jennifer’s (Emma Lahana) relationship took a decidedly romantic turn. For the girl who kept hearing voices in her head, which helped in rescuing Audrey (Emily Rose), Jennifer has become an integral part of their everyday HAVEN lives. She even joined the Haven Herald as a cub reporter and has called Duke’s boat home. After all they had gone through, including the near murderous attack by Duke’s brother Wade (Christian Camargo), it was hardly a wonder that some feelings had been triggered. But as Duke and Jennifer finally kissed in last week’s episode, that was no mere tentative embrace. It was full on roaring passion and television screens were simmering from the heat. But just what does that mean? Is Duke’s proclaimed love for Audrey now gone and is he finally moving on? [Read more…]

HAVEN Central: Meet Robert Maillet, Who Plays A Heavy Role in Season 4 of HAVEN
It’s a simple play on words, but it is surely no coincidence that WWE wrestler Robert Maillet was cast in role known simply as “Heavy” for HAVEN. Robert has in recent years played a number of villainous characters on the big screen and small screen, including the feature films “300”, “Sherlock Holmes,” “Immortals,” and more recently “Pacific Rim” and “Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” as well as the television series ONCE UPON A TIME and MERLIN.
Robert is the first to admit that he loves playing bad guys and villains. He gets a mischievous glint in his eye as he admits it, but anyone that has spent any time around Robert knows that he is a gentle, loving man. It is his strong physique that commands attention and it can be seen as either daunting and dangerous or for those who see that sparkle in his eye, they know there’s an element of humor in his roles too.
He was ecstatic to join HAVEN this season as Heavy and to reunite with his WWE buddy Adam Copeland. It was a fun reunion for both and surely if we are lucky, we will catch a glimpse or two of them on screen together as Dwight and Heavy — though maybe from opposite sides if Heavy is as dark a character as suspected.
To hear a little bit from Robert about working on HAVEN, be sure to check out this video interview: [Read more…]
HAVEN Central: Meet Kyle Mitchell, the Sinister Man of HAVEN Season 4
Briefly introduced in last week’s premiere episode, viewers got their first glimpse of “Sinister Man” portrayed by newcomer Kyle Mitchell. Sinister Man along with his partner Heavy (Robert Maillet) have a vital role to play in Season 4 of HAVEN. They are not your average thugs of the week, so it was a privilege to talk with Kyle about his new role to try to get a few clues about what Sinister Man is up to. [Read more…]
HAVEN Central: Eric Balfour Teases How the Duke/Nathan/Audrey Relationships Change in Season 4
After that infamous barn disappearing trick at the end of Season 3, we all suspected that there would be some big changes ahead in Season 4 of HAVEN. After last week’s premiere episode, we have now see a glimpse of some of those changes. Audrey is now Lexie (Emily Rose) and does not remember her former life as Audrey — nor the two men that she grew to love and they loved her in return. In addition, Duke (Eric Balfour) found himself stepping out of the barn as it disintegrated around him and time had passed significant for everyone while he thought it was but mere moments. Six months had gone by in the blink of an eye. As Duke struggled to catch up on all that had passed and changed in his absence, we saw many of our heroes reunited again — but with Audrey/Lexie still missing.
In a recent press conference call, star Eric Balfour gallantly shared a few clues about what lies ahead in Season 4 for the complicated relationships between Audrey, Duke and Nathan (Lucas Bryant). [Read more…]
HAVEN Central: A Quick Tease from Writer Shernold Edwards About Audrey/Duke Relationship in HAVEN
For Audrey/Duke fans, one of the standout episodes of Season 3 was “Magic Hour, part 1” written by Shernold Edwards (Pictured above, left). Daring to take the characters to the brink of a romantic liaison while on a road trip, Shernold made sure that the sparks flew and shipper hearts were aflutter at the possibilities. While the show ultimately stepped back from that romantic moment, fans were never quite certain of the door to the Audrey/Duke romance had been closed forever.
In this brief video interview, Shernold talks about the Audrey/Duke relationship and whether all hope is lost: [Read more…]
HAVEN Central: Props Master Jason Shurko Revisits Some of HAVEN’s Cool Props from Prior Seasons
Television is a curious world where everything is but an illusion, including some of the things you would think were exactly as they appear. Yet for TV shows, it is rare that they use actual real-life objects as some are too dangerous, some are too hard to locate in a timely-manner, and some just do not exist yet. So lots of the things you see on screen may just be something that the props department on a television show dreamed up and created. In a show like HAVEN, where not only is the show filmed in the remote region of Chester, Nova Scotia where most average items are hard to obtain, HAVEN also likes to dream up the impossible — and then expects that its amazing art department and props department will find a way to make it possible. Thus, HAVEN’s props department can create just about anything from: treasure chests to fake animals to weapons, most of which only look dangerous and are surprisingly safe to handle.
In a rare interview, I had the privilege of chatting with props master Jason Shurko about some of the unique props created for HAVEN from its first couple of seasons. (Note: No props from Season 4 are shown as those would be too spoilerish!) Some of the featured props include: [Read more…]
HAVEN Preview: Season 4 Brings More “Troubles,” Turbulence and Terror
Based on the Stephen King novella “The Colorado Kid,” HAVEN is a series exploring the darker side of a small town infested with supernatural problems. Past seasons have introduced average everyday people with very unique abilities — for many these abilities are more trouble than a blessing. Thus, they are known as “troubled.” Every 27 years or so, the “troubles” seem to return to plague Haven and all within its borders. Not everyone is cursed, but all who reside there have felt the presence of the “troubles” and everyone looks forward to the day when they disappear again. As was revealed in Season 3, Audrey Parker is the key to getting rid of the “troubles” and giving the afflicted relief — it’s Audrey’s capacity to love that provides a protective loving blanket over Haven for a time, until she must return to recharge on the love she finds there. HAVEN Central: We Shine the Spotlight on Stunt Coordinator Randy Boliver
Whether it be walking and tripping, or jumping through a window or flying through the air into the water, stunts can be small and large all depending on what is going on in a scene. But in the HAVEN world, stunts tend to be much more exaggerated and elaborate than you might expect simply due to the supernatural element that lends itself to larger than life kinds of action. From the small stunts to the ones that take hours and days of preparation, special consideration and care goes into each and every one. In a recent exclusive interview, stunt coordinator Randy Boliver talked about the stunt challenges in the HAVEN world. [Read more…]
