After a season worth of disappointments and delays, COUGAR TOWN fans finally got some much deserved good news over the weekend. Deadline Hollywood is reporting that TBS is in talks with ABC Studios to pick-up the low rated fan favorite for two 15 episode seasons should ABC [the Network] opt to kick it to the curb. A move which in a nutshell, is a match made in Comedy heaven. See for yourself, after the jump. [Read more…]

Channel Surfing: GAME OF THRONES, GOSSIP GIRL, THE BIG BANG THEORY & More!
I’m not gonna lie: I had no interest in GAME OF THRONES, and didn’t watch it during the first season. As with many shows, I eventually discovered it one night when, too drunk to figure out how to work our ridiculously complicated remote control, an episode came on. As fate would have it, that episode was a rerun of the pilot and long before I had sobered up, I was hooked. Why did no one tell me it was a soap? And not only that, but the best soap on television. Now, I won’t even pretend that I can remember (let alone spell) half their names, and I’m a tad too tired as I write this to actually go to IMDB, but the story in which the hot no-longer-caged dude told girl-pretending-to-be-a-boy that he would repay her kindness by killing any three people she wished (and proved it by episode’s end by striking down the first guy on her list) is brilliant. I have to assume that nasty little twit Joffrey will wind up as No. 1 with a bullet (or, in this case, a sword) on her list. Meanwhile, the show continues to prove that no character is sacred (let alone safe) by killing off Renley via the smoke monster that sprung forth from the redheaded witch’s vajayjay. Something tells me that unlike on a daytime soap, the THRONES folks — no matter how popular — won’t be popping up in a few weeks to say, “Whoopsie! Sorry y’all invested in a story about my death. Let’s just pretend that never happened, shall we?” [Read more…]

Strippers! Cameos! Hook-ups! 5 Things to Keep Your Eye Out for in THE L.A. COMPLEX
So, what do you think of when you hear the words “Melrose Place.” It could well depend on whether you picture the early years (in which case you might reflect on self-contained stories that were dull as dishwater) or the latter ones (in which case you’ll most likely envision Kimberly ripping her wig off or breastfeeding Jo’s baby). In either case, MELROSE is the show most often referenced in conjunction with THE L.A. COMPLEX, a Canadian import which debuts tonight at 9PM on The CW. But which incarnation of the famous Fox sudser does it resemble? Neither, really, at least if one goes by the pilot. Instead, viewers will find COMPLEX to be a show that gets off to a rough start, but gets better as the initial hour unfolds and, much like its predecessor, leaves one wanting ready for more (if not willing to admit that publicly). What might be most surprising about the series is the things you’ll find here that aren’t staples when it comes to broadcast television. Such as? Read on, my friends, read on! [Read more…]
Jonathan Patrick Moore and Andra Fuller Welcome You to THE L.A. COMPLEX
It is a special achievement when an American television network picks up a foreign television series for broadcast in the U.S. But THE L.A. Complex is no ordinary series. It is a Canadian series that has the audacity to depict the trials and tribulations of six struggling entertainers in sunny, cutthroat Los Angeles, California. The Toronto-filmed series smartly incorporates scenes and settings from the L.A. amongst their own colorful city images. The show captures the vibrant energy of the “city that never sleeps” and focuses tightly on its youthful, charming and bound-to-succeed-no-matter-what-the-cost ensemble of characters. [Read more…]

HART OF DIXIE
You Take the Good: Despite lacking its timeslot lead-ins penchant for generating buzzy tabloid headlines, ratings for this throwback series continue to outperform GOSSIP GIRL, not to mention much of the Network’s primetime schedule. Also working it HART OF DIXIE’s favor, WIlson Bethel has break-out star written all over him.
You Take the Bad: In the same way in which LIFE UNEXPECTED was unceremoniously handed its walking papers, HART OF DIXIE’s achilles heel remains its lack of built-in-brand name (Think: 90210, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) that might better translate to big sales overseas.
You Take Them Both and There You Have… Our Prediction: Since newly-appointed Network President Mark Pedowitz most certainly would like to avoid seeing the entirety of his first primetime lineup deemed a colossal failure, we’re fairly confident in a HART OF DIXIE second season renewal. [Read more…]
