Looking back at WonderCon 2011, there were sneak peeks, special treats and stars galore. The entire weekend offered a feast of visual delights as fans were invited to preview and celebrate a number of upcoming films and television shows at WonderCon in San Francisco. Considered a mini-version of Comic-Con, WonderCon this year showcased such amazing films as Green Lantern, Cowboys & Aliens, The Three Musketeers, Hanna, Priest and Immortals. On the television-side, there were sneak peeks at the new TNT alien-occupation series FALLING SKIES, the British time-traveling series DOCTOR WHO, the comedy hi-jinks series BREAKING IN, the dino-epic TERRA NOVA, the octane-fueled HUMAN TARGET, and the alien invasion series V. Also bridging the gap between film and television, there was a special screening of the upcoming animation DVD Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and a preview of the upcoming graphic novel Immortals: Gods & Heroes (published by Archaia Comics).
For television and film buffs alike, it was a treasure trove weekend. It is always a rare treat when studios allow the fans an opportunity to mingle with the stars and peek behind-the-curtain at the magic offered by film and television. The invitation to preview special footage specially prepared for the fans made the 3-day event both rewarding and exciting.
Showcasing seven of the extraordinary television panels featured, here are a few glimpses, teasers and hints at what is upcoming on these fun shows.

WonderCon 2011: TERRA NOVA Live Blog
12:36PM: The WonderCon TERRA NOVA panel kicks off with an incredibly exciting preview that perfectly sets the tone for what is already our most-anticipated series of the Fall. The year is 2149 AD, the place is Hope Plaza Chicago where a pilgrimage numbering over 1000 prepare to depart. Following a flash reminiscent of LOST that sees the our hero, Jim Shannon land back first in a lush green forrest, the Shannon family are welcomed to their new home. “Together we are at the dawn of a new civilization, welcome to Terra Nova folks, welcome home,” says Commander Taylor. Cut to shot after shot of beautiful teelines, happy families basking in the sun, waterfalls, bikini clad girls cliff-jumping, and romance. Of course, just when Mama Shannon tells Papa Shannon, “We did the right thing,” darkness falls, ominous newcomers are dragged into the woods, gunfire, dinosaurs, and awesomeness ensues. Evidently, “there is no paradise without sacrifice.” Da… da… duh!
12:40PM: Star Jason O’Mara arrives FlipCam in hands. Which is to say, he’s not just excited for his latest project, he’s really really excited. Also interesting, co-star Stephen Lang’s nickname is “Slang.”
WonderCon 2011: 5 Lessons Learned From TNT’s FALLING SKIES Panel
As we inch closer and closer to its June 19th premiere, it should probably come as little surprise that the marketing campaign for TNT and executive producer Steven Spielberg’s FALLING SKIES is kicking into high gear. That said, what certainly did come as a surprise, at least to this TV Addict who knew very little about the show heading into yesterday’s panel at San Francisco’s WonderCon 2011 was just how good the series looks. But hey, don’t take our word for it, here are five lessons learned thanks to writer Melinda Hsu, executive producer Mark Verheiden and star Drew Roy after the jump.

THE GOOD WIFE! BIG LOVE! HIMYM! GLEE! Our TV Addict Week in Rewind
Biggest Headscratcher: Between COMMUNITY’s love affair with COUGAR TOWN, THE OFFICE’s shout-out to DALLAS, PARKS AND RECREATIONS’ nod to NCIS: LOS ANGELES and 30 ROCK’s myriad of pop culture zingers touching on RIZZOLI & ISLES, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, AMAZING RACE, ROSWELL and ENTOURAGE, one can’t help but wonder how the fledgling fourth place Peacock Network might be doing ratings-wise if their own shows paid half as much attention to NBC’s roster as they do others!
Loudest Fan Outcry: Viewers of GENERAL HOSPITAL were so upset about the soap turning four-year-old Jake into road kill that their response garnered attention from such media outlets as The New York Post.
And the Award For Best Ending We Didn’t See Coming But Probably Should Have Goes to…: BIG LOVE, which just about made up for two seasons of disappointment with a finale that gave us the BIG ending we were hoping for. God only knows what we’ll be without you indeed.
Faux Campaign We Can Really Get Behind: All we can say to Ellen DeGeneres’ plea that networks stop airing two-hour episodes of reality shows is… Amen!
Best For Your Consideration Emmy Reel: Following Monday’s fantastic father-son reunion between Barney and his bio-dad on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, is anyone else up for forgoing all of that silly campaigning by just awarding Neil Patrick Harris and John Lithgow their Emmys now?
