The adage, “If something is too good to be true, it probably is,” has withstood the test of time with amazing accuracy. The warning applies to everything from a stock scam to a pyramid scheme to a snake oil salesman (and an occasional email from that Nigerian prince).

The body of a highly regarded Naval Reserves technician is found floating in a lake near a popular community event, NCIS wonders if the case smells as bad as a bottle of spoiled snake oil.

When Technician Jeremy Whistler, supposedly one of the best in his unit, an A+ student at Aspire Technical College who, in his spare time is a Scout leader who rescues injured kittens when he is not volunteering at a local soup kitchen, turns up dead, NCIS suspects that Whistler may not have been the paragon of virtue which his reputation implied. Too good to be true? Sounds like he is too good to be real.

Even more suspicious…the trade school without students…or equipment…

…and why the daily postings of mint chocolate chip ice cream? Is that the latest medium for sending secret messages?

If a Duck Dunk and different ways to display ice cream make this week’s NCIS episode, “Schooled,” seem “curiouser and curiouser,” there is one more enquiring mind in the mix…Jack’s (Maria Bello) daughter, who was given up for adoption as an infant, shows up unexpectedly and wants to know who her father is.

Guest starring on NCIS this week are Kate Hamilton, Jeremiah Birkett, Chelsea Tavares, Patrick Cage, Iris Bahr, Joshua Dov, Amari O’Neil, Armen Nahapetian and DAYS OF OUR LIVES’s Matthew Ashford. “Schooled” was written by Kate Torgovnick May and Steven D. Binder and directed by Alrick Riley.

NCIS airs tonight (March 24) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the U.S. and on Global TV in Canada.
