You saw it. We saw it. Everybody saw it. There it was…nestled among the 5-million-dollar commercials in the Super Bowl…an NCIS promo with Ziva David! So, we all checked the team uniforms to see if we blinked and ended up back in 2013, and no, we hadn’t.

Then, we pondered why CBS would give up such valuable airtime to a promo, and concluded that tonight’s episode of NCIS, titled “She,” must be a good one. According to the press release, “a malnourished and confused 9-year-old is found hiding in a storage unit. NCIS reopens an old missing persons case when the girl is believed to be the daughter of a Navy recruit who disappeared 10 years ago.”

Not only does Bishop (Emily Wickersham) discover that Ziva (former cast member Cote de Pablo) was working on the case for years after NCIS stopped investigating, she also realizes that Ziva is a topic that Gibbs (Mark Harmon) does not wish to discuss. Could we find out tonight that Ziva did not die in an explosion and that she and Tony (former cast member, Michael Weatherly, now the star of BULL) are living happily ever after somewhere off the grid with their daughter?

Perhaps the 9-year-old girl (guest star Sunnie Pelant as Lily Burke) knows something, if only Bishop and Sloane (Maria Bello) can get the abused child to trust them.

“She” was written by Gina Lucita Monreal and directed by Mark Horowitz. NCIS airs tonight (February 12) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the U.S. and on Global TV in Canada.
