Ambyr Childers plays Ashley on the Showtime hit, RAY DONOVAN. I spoke with the talented young actress about working with Philip Seymour Hoffman, her new show for NBC, and this week’s episode.
You’ve worked with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Bruce Willis in the past. Is there anything that you’ve learned while working with them and applied to your work today?
Philip is incomparable to any actor I’ve ever worked with. Whenever I’m on set there’s not a moment that I don’t think about him. Even though some people might say I only worked with him for 3 months, his charming personality, his humor and talent had a HUGE impact on me.
What can you tell us about this Sunday’s episode of RAY DONOVAN?
Ashley comes back into Ray’s life when she asks him to help her new boyfriend Steve Knight, a self-help guru who has anger management issues. Even though she is with someone else, she is still extremely attracted to Ray.
Aside from RAY DONOVAN what shows are you watching right now?
I’m obsessed with Penny Dreadful! Eva Green is fantastic.
What can you tell us about your new show AQUARIUS?
AQUARIUS is a cat and mouse chase between a detective and the Manson family: Charlie, Sadie (Susan Atkins), Katie (Patricia Krenwinkel) and the other girls. Its 1967 and its all about free love, sex, drugs and culture movement.
AQUARIUS deals with the Manson Family. Did you do any research on the Manson murders to prepare for the role?
There are so many books about Manson, Susan (who I am portraying), and the girls. I started with her book “Child of Satan, Child of God” and am currently reading “Helter Skelter.” I’m learning who Susan was, learning her behavior and childhood.
You can watch Ambyr in RAY DONOVAN tonight at 9PM on Showtime.
Victoria Nelli loves TV so much that she is paying $30,000 a year to learn about it in College. When she’s not learning about TV she enjoys writing about her favorite shows, interviewing anyone in the industry that will let her, and ranting about how underrated Parks and Recreation is. She is very much aware of her Netflix addiction, and no she will not be seeking help anytime soon. You can follow her on Twitter @VictoriaNelli
