If Katie White, writer of tonight’s NCIS episode, “In a Nutshell,” wants to freak me out, she is on the right path. It seems we both have a thing for dollhouses. My childhood dollhouse looks quite a bit like my “grown-up” house…same tastes, same furniture style. While that may say a lot about my psyche, I tend to blame it on my love of antiques.
But White’s imagination takes tonight’s story down a darker and windier road…”Murder by Miniatures” could describe it, perhaps. When a Navy officer is murdered the same way as his parents a decade ago, the NCIS investigation stumbles across a storage container filled with dollhouses that display recreations of murder scenes. White and I must have been separated at birth because she writes of the dilemma that the team members face when they decide to clean out their living spaces. As did I, some of the NCIS folks are having a harder time saying goodbye to their possessions than others. Thankfully, I found relief through eBay. Nothing soothes “sentimental attachment syndrome” like cold, hard cash.
And while I have not found the strength to sell my dollhouse quite yet, I assure you that the only act of violence that ever happened there was a broken leg…on a miniature rocker which was repaired many years ago and still rocks to this day.
Guest starring on tonight’s NCIS are Gary Hudson, Abby Carter, Paul Johansson, Logan Pepper, Victoria Barnes, Damien Leake, Allene Quincy, Danny Max and Susan Louise O’Connor as the “Woman in Cat Sweater.” Yes, I have one of those, as well. (It was a gift.) “In a Nutshell” was directed by Michael Zinberg.
NCIS airs tonight (March 10) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS in the U.S. and on Global TV in Canada.
