THE CROWN Season 3 Trailer: The Times Are Changing

As the longest-reigning monarch in English history, Queen Elizabeth II has seen how the passage of time has changed her country. And that’s a big part of season 3 of THE CROWN. Netflix has finally released a full-length trailer of its acclaimed series, which returns in November. With the show moving into the 1960s and 1970s, Olivia Colman has taken over the role of Queen Elizabeth from Claire Foy, with Tobias Menzies stepping into the role of Philip.

The trailer below shows a pensive Elizabeth, concerned that she may not have accomplished much in her first 25 years on the throne. The streaming service says that “From cold-war paranoia, through to the jet-set and the space age – the exuberance of the 1960s and the long hangover of the 1970s – Elizabeth and the Royals must adapt to a new, more liberated, but also more turbulent world.” Helena Bonham Carter is also featured as Princess Margaret, continuing a simmering tension with her elder sister. You’ll also see expanded roles for Prince Charles (now played by Prince Charles) and Princess Anne (now played by Erin Doherty). The Queen’s eldest children are growing up and those who know their history will realize that they’ll both (especially Charles) have larger roles to play in the upcoming fourth season, which will focus on the 1980s and the Diana years.

THE CROWN returns for its third season on Sunday, November 17 on Netflix.
