Tonight’s NCIS holiday episode, “What Child Is This?” shows the satisfaction of helping others when the team pitches in to care for a newborn baby with no apparent family, and Kasie (Diona Reasonover) volunteers to help with the final arrangements for a homeless veteran.
In the spirit of the season, here is this year’s annual NCIS holiday poem. Those who remember Nat King Cole can try singing it to the melody of “The Christmas Song” (aka “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire”)…
- Gibbs is cooking on an open fire
When Leon calls him to MTAC
Gibbs says, “Grab your gear.
There’s a body near here.”
And the NCIS team prepares to act
- McGee checks sources for some cyber leads
While Bishop puts them on the big screen
Nick checks his Sig
Jack continues to dig
And finds some facts about the scene
- The team heads out to investigate
With Gibbs in charge behind the wheel
They head to the site
Torres’s knuckles are white
As tires and brakes take turns as they squeal
- Ducky and Palmer are already there
They brought Kasie along for good measure
“There’s an issue,” says Ducky.
This chap is quite lucky.”
He smiles as he reveals a treasure
- An elf looks at them, seeming quite confused
It seems that he took a little spill
He fell from a sleigh
No cause for dismay
Santa’s sled was just a bit too filled
- “So, no crime?” exclaims Jack
“Guess we can be heading back
To Christmas at home,”
As she looks at the gnome
Who tearfully examines his sack
- Gibbs extends his hand to help the elf
“Won’t you join us at Ducky’s for the day?
We’ll get you back home,
But today you should come
And not spend Christmas by yourself.”
- The elf smiles at his kindness
And nods his head a great big “yes”
When hoofbeats clatter with a sound
Who suddenly appears, but a jolly old man
The elf happily cheers, “I’ve been found!”
- The elf grabs his sack and he throws it to Jack
The bag’s marked “NCIS” with gifts to the brim
The elf he hops in the sleigh,
And as they fly away
He yells, “Watch NCIS, CBS, 8pm!”
