The CW is “reimagining” CHARMED for a new generation and it’s paired the show with SUPERGIRL on its new Sunday night schedule. Marisol, the matriarch, is always talking about how their family is “stronger together”. Melanie “Mel” Vera, her eldest daughter, is a graduate student in the women’s studies department that her mother leads at Hilltowne University, while youger sister Maggie is a freshman who is far more fun-loving. But then Marisol dies in a horrifying accident — only…was it really an accident? Three months later Mel is still unable to accept the “official” explanation of their mother’s death. And then, another huge shocker — an older sister they never knew about, Macy, shows up at their door. They’re shocked that their mother kept Macy a secret this entire time. New in town, Macy is eager to connect with her two sisters, but Mel shuts her own.

Soon enough all three girls suddenly start exhibiting strange abilities: Mel can freeze time, Maggie can hear other people’s thoughts, and Macy has telekinesis. Harry Greenwood, the new chair of the women’s studies department, gathers the women together to reveal that they’re actually power witches, just like their mother. And he confesses that he’s their “Whitelighter”, a witch’s advisor. Finally, he reveals that their mother’s death wasn’t an accident — she had been murdered by dark forces.
The cast includes Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery, Madeleine Mantock, Rupert Evans, Ser’Darius Blaine, Charlie Gillespie, and Ellen Tamaki. Jessica O’Toole, Amy Rardin, Jennie Snyder Urman, Ben Silverman, Brad Silberling and Carter Covington serve as executive producers.
CHARMED will air Sundays at 9:00 p.m. this fall on The CW (see The CW’s full fall schedule).
