CBS picked up five new shows today for the 2018-2019 season: MAGNUM, P.I., THE RED LINE, THE CODE, GOD FRIENDED ME and FAM.
MAGNUM, P.I. is being billed as “an update of the classic television series” and stars Jay Hernandez as an ex-Navy SEAL who becomes a private investigator after returning to Hawaii from Afghanistan. Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton and Stephen Hill also star.
THE RED LINE comes from acclaimed filmmaker Ava DuVernay and revolves around a white Chicago police officer’s accidental fatal shooting of an African-American doctor. The show follows three different families connected to the cast. Noah Wyle, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Noel Fisher, Michael Patrick Thornton , Aliyah Royale, Vinny Chhibber, Howard Charles and Elizabeth Laidlaw star in the series.
GOD FRIENDED ME, from uber-producer Greg Berlanti, is all about an athiest whose life is turned upside down after God “friends” him on social media. The cast includes Brandon Micheal Hall, Joe Morton, Violett Beane, Suraj Sharma and Javicia Leslie.
The final drama series, THE CODE, is about the military’s brightest minds tackling the country’s biggest challenges from inside the courtroom – each attorney is trained as a prosecutor, a defense lawyer, an investigator and a Marine. Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo and Raffi Barsoumian star.
Finally, FAM is a comedy series starring Nina Dobrev as a woman trying to get in good with her fiancé’s upstanding family. Unfortunately, this plan goes wrong when her half-sister comes to live with her and turns out to be a hot mess.
