Did in-fighting between the FBI and the CIA inadvertently create a set of circumstances that led to 9/11? That’s the question at the heart of THE LOOMING TOWER, the new Hulu series based on the Pulitzer-Prize winning book of the same name.
In the years leading up to 9/11, the two agencies were hostile to one another and withheld information that could have helped the other agency get to the bottom of various investigations. The series itself follows members of the I-49 Squad in New York and Alec Station in Washington, D.C., the counter-terrorism divisions of the FBI and CIA, respectively. Both groups are trying to prevent an imminent attack on U.S. soil, but the hoarding of information isn’t doing either agency any favors.
