Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) is a complicated man. Tonight, ARROW will be delving into his life. In the comics canon, Slade is a former soldier. Trained in guerilla warfare by Captain Adeline Kane, Wilson became almost unstoppable.
But, things happened that changed his life forever. He fell in love with Adeline. They were married and had two sons. The younger was named Joseph, Slade’s middle name. He was given an experimental treatment by the military that turned him into a super-soldier, with enhanced abilities (none of which were diplomatic skills).
Slade became a mercenary, and because of his work, an adversary kidnapped his son and slashed Joe’s throat, making him unable to speak. Adeline became so enraged that Slade’s work had impacted her son that she divorced Slade and moved away, changing Joe’s name to Kane, her maiden name (and a popular name in the DC-verse after Batman creator, Bob Kane).
In tonight’s episode, “Deathstroke Returns,” Joe (guest star William Franklyn-Miller/Liam Hall) is taken hostage by mercenaries. Desperate to save him, Slade enlists Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) help to save his son. But, he does not need Ollie’s skill with a bow. He needs his skills as a diplomat.
Their plans, however, are complicated by what is described as “a terrible revelation that could shatter Slade’s hopes of reunion forever.” Could any of those complications relate to the guys with the accents?
And, if that is not enough problems, Vigilante is back in town.
“Deathstroke Returns” written by Ben Sokolowski & Spiro Skentzos and directed by Joel Novoa.
ARROW airs tonight (November 9) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
