As The CW starts the ramp-up to the four-series crossover event (ARROW, FLASH, SUPERGIRL and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW) on Monday, November 27, things at ARROW are changing faster than the “zing/thwack” sound effect made by its pointed projectiles.
The biggest change? Diggle (David Ramsey) is now Green Arrow.
Yes, for those who missed last week’s episode, Oliver (Stephen Amell) has decided to spend more time with William, and Dig has inherited the emerald hoodie. Poor John. Not only did he catch a bunch of shrapnel on Lian Yu that has messed up his ability to point a gun, his new role reversal pushes him to learn how to navigate a bow while hiding his injury from the team.
Another switcheroo…Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is sporting brunette locks and targeting unsuspecting men, but doing the blonde-thing as Black Siren. If blondes have more fun, destroying Star City must be a blast. And why is it that Black Siren seems to be the only one catching onto the fact that Green Arrow’s body has changed significantly in a week?
The key to her observational skills? Not sure. Maybe her earth is just smarter than ours.
Meanwhile, looks like she and Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) are tuning up for another canary-cry-off when the Siren locks-and-loads for her latest mayhem.
While LL and DD are in search of an A-flat, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is in search of some part-time income. After pumping Curtis (Echo Kellum) for info about his extracurricular coding job, she may have the key to a gig with flex-hours. Wouldn’t it be terrific if she and Mister Terrific started their own tech company? Of course, she’ll have to be a little less lone wolf and a bit more forward-looking.
With Alana (Kacey Rohl) lurking in her apartment and asking for help with Cayden James (Michael Emerson), Felicity will need the team more than ever, even if she doesn’t realize it.
Felicity’s relationship skills aren’t necessarily as good as her hacking abilities, so as she and Ollie move closer to couple-status (again), his recently freed-up schedule may give them time to squeeze in a date in between crimefighting and city management.
But right now, Felicity’s focus is on the team. With Oliver on a non-suit-up status, the pair is going through an adjustment phase with Ollie at the cyber-helm and Felicity rushing off to be a superhero with John, Curtis and Rene (Rick Gonzalez). While the guys are amply armed, her weapon of choice is a tablet.
Whatever kind of tablet it is, it will be interesting to see if it can replace her usual bank of cyber-tools since Ollie’s a bit behind the learning curve. If she needs cash, maybe she can pitch it to Apple for the next iPhone design. Heck, if it can keep up with the changing code name assignments, that’s already impressive.
Tonight’s episode, “Reversal,” was written by Sarah Tarkoff & Emilio Ortega Aldrich and directed by Gregory Smith.
ARROW airs tonight (November 2) at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
