HEADLINE: Politician caught in lie is hounded by media. FBI is investigating. Possible Russian involvement.
No, you haven’t stumbled onto MSNBC. You’re watching ARROW.
At the end of last week’s action-packed Season 6 premiere, the media broadcast a photo that reveals that Oliver (Stephen Amell) is the Green Arrow. As any politician who has something to hide, Ollie calls an impromptu press conference to deny, deny, deny.
Not only is the press digging for evidence, the FBI also wants answers. New recurring cast member, GLOW’s Sydelle Noel (who also will be in Marvel’s BLACK PANTHER out next year) joins ARROW as FBI Special Agent Samandra Watson.
Agent Watson is described by ARROW producers as “intelligent and poised with a no-nonsense attitude,” and determined to figure out Green Arrow’s secret identity.
ARROW Executive Producer, Marc Guggenheim, has expressed the importance of adding more dynamic female characters to the DCverse, and Noel certainly has the acting chops to fill that bill. We applaud that trend and hope that it spreads. The return of Katie Cassidy as Black Siren, the expansion of Juliana Harkavy’s Dinah Drake role and the upcoming debut of Chastity Dotson as former League of Assassins/vigilante, Onyx, is a great start.
Ollie will be needing all the help he can get. Anatoly (guest star David Nykl) is back in Star City with a deadly agenda, and a mystery person has lent a hand to Black Siren (pun intended).
Even more threatening than either of those…a ‘tween with an attitude. Oliver continues his uphill battle to be a good father to William (guest star Jack Moore). Comparatively, being a harassed politician by day and Green Arrow by night seems easier.
Tonight’s episode, “Tribute,” was written by Adam Schwartz (story), and Marc Guggenheim & Beth Schwartz (teleplay). Laura Belsey directed the episode.
ARROW airs tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
