Have the writers at NCIS: NEW ORLEANS been watching The CW? Maybe some repeats of THE ORIGINALS or THE VAMPIRE DIARIES?
Or maybe they are checking out the upcoming Big Easy’s ghost events like the Hook & Ladder Cemetery Tour, Tombs by Twilight, and the All Saints Soirée (cocktails, music and local fare, all to support charity). A city with a haunted heritage, New Orleans does not shy away from a good ghost story, often promoting it to finance the upkeep of its historical cemeteries.
In tonight’s NCIS: NEW ORLEANS episode, “Dead Man Calling,” a Civil War ghost comes-a-calling, bringing a séance, a local medium, and a haunted history with him. Non-NOLA native, Gregorio (Vanessa Ferlito), gets spooked with all of the ghost-talk.
When young Naval corpsman plunges to his death from a roof during one of the city’s many ghost tours, Lasalle (Lucas Black) suggests that Civil War ghost, Cornelius Le Roux, may have returned to New Orleans as Samhain approaches. While the onlookers think that the fight preceding the petty officer’s fall is part of the tour (until its fateful end), the tour guide and a local “spirit chaser” have other ideas.
Are the pre-mortem injuries sustained by the petty officer the result of a disagreement with someone from the Crescent City? Or did the less-corporeal Cornelius decide to pull another victim through the veil. After all, the Confederate sailor met his demise over 150 years earlier, plummeting from the same four-story building.
While Lasalle and Percy (Shalita Grant) try to convince Gregorio to check out some NOLA fright-life, they will have a harder time trying to convince Pride (Scott Bakula) and Loretta (CCH Pounder) that there is “nothing to see here” in their budding relationship.
Ghosts, spirit chasers, and New Orleans haunted history…all that is missing is McGee from NCIS. Named after Admiral David Farragut, who commanded the Union Navy during the Civil War’s Battle of New Orleans, perhaps Timothy Farragut McGee could have lent a hand.
But, if Gregorio starts sporting a vervain bracelet and having a drink at Rousseau’s, my money is on The CW.
