THE RESIDENT is a new medical drama coming to Fox that focuses on three doctors at different stages in their career and a young nurse.
Dr. Conrad Hawkins is one of the best doctors at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. He’s only a third year resident, but he’s very charming, arrogant and unconventional. His favorite part of the job is bursting the illusions of first-year residents like Dr. Devon Pravesh so that he can turn them into “real-life” doctors. Devon is an idealist with a strong moral compass. but with Conrad’s help, Devon realizes that being a doctor isn’t exactly what he imagined it to be and ethical lines are often blurred.
As Devon and Conrad make their way through the halls, they interact with the distinguised chief of surgery, Dr. Randolph Bell. But while he’s the face of the hospital, his diminishing skills are often covered up with the help of the doctors under his control. Then there’s Dr. Mina Okafor, a rising star surgeon who could threaten Bell’s dominance. And finally there’s Nicolette Nevin, one of the hospital’s most respected nurses who is also Conrad’s on-again-off-again romantic partner
