THE ORVILLE: First Look at Fox’s New Science Fiction Series

THE ORVILLE is a science fiction series set 400 years in the future and revolves around the adventures of the U.S.S. Orville, an exploratory vessel. Crewed by a mix of both humans and aliens, the Orville explores the wonders and dangers of outer space…and even problems in the workplace.

In the 25th century, the Earth is now part of the Planetary Union, an advanced civilization with a fleet of 3,000 ships. After a bitter divorce, officer Ed Mercer finally has a chance to command one of the ships: the Orville. Ed is determined to prove he can succesd at this job, but that’s made difficult when the First Officer assigned to the ship is his ex-wife, Kelly Grayson. And then there’s his ragtag crew: his best friend Gordon Malloy (who has problems with authority but is a fantastic helsman), Dr. Claire Finn (one of the Union’s best doctors), Bortus (an alien from a single-sex species), Isaac (an artificial life form from a society that things biological life is inferior), navigator John Lamarr, Alara Kitan (an inexperienced security officer) and Yaphit (a gelatinous creature voiced by comedian Norm Macdonald). Can Ed and Kelly put their past behind them in order to navigate the adventures to be had in outer space?

THE ORVILLE stars Seth MacFarlane as Ed Mercer, Adrianne Palicki as Kelly Grayson, Penny Johnson Jerald as Claire Finn, Scott Grimes as Gordon Malloy, Peter Macon as Bortus, Halston Sage as Alara Kitan, J. Lee as John Lamarr, Mark Jackson as Isaac, Chad Coleman as Klyden, Norm Macdonald as Yaphit. MacFarlane, Brannon Braga, David A. Goodman, Jason Clark and Liz Heldens serve as executive producers. Jon Favreau (IRON MAN) directed the pilot.
