When the LAW & ORDER franchise came to an end on NBC (save for LAW & ORDER: SVU), the CHICAGO franchise rose to prominence. Now the network has greenlit season renewals for CHICAGO MED, CHICAGO FIRE and CHICAGO P.D. CHICAGO FIRE is NBC’s second-highest-rated and most watched drama series behind THIS IS US and while CHICAGO MED and CHICAGO P.D. aren’t pulling in FIRE’s numbers, creator Dick Wolf’s overall deal with NBC will continue.
CHICAGO FIRE will head into its sixth season, with CHICAGO P.D. and CHICAGO MED heading into seasons 5 and 3, respectively.
There’s no word yet on whether newcomer spin-off CHICAGO JUSTICE. And the fate of LAW & ORDER: SVU has not yet been announced, but the show is a long-running staple for the network and will likely get renewed.
