Everything has gone to hell when THE GOOD FIGHT begins and that’s shown with Diane watching the inauguration of Donald Trump.
But before that happens we have some good news. Lockhart, Deckler & Lee has expanded since we last saw the firm (hence one of the new names) and Diane is on the verge of retiring after having put in an offer on a beautiful chateau in France. Her former partners have wished her well and she’s on her way, but things will soon take a dark turn for her. Before her retirement Diane is reunited with Luca, who is working for Reddick, Boseman and Kolstad, an all African-American firm. Alicia is briefly mentioned, but the focus of THE GOOD FIGHT is primarily on Diane, Lucia and the new characters.
Here are the new faces you’ll meet in THE GOOD FIGHT:
Maia Rindell. She’s just passed the bar and is about to start work at Lockhart, Deckler & Lee. David Lee is introducing her and the rest of the other first year associates to their new jobs and she’s the one associate he is actually nice to, which makes sense because she’s Diane’s goddaughter. A lesbian, she’s currently in a long term relationship with her girlfriend, Amy. But when her father is disgraced professionally her life goes to hell. Her family is loathed and she loses her job at Lockhart, Deckler & Lee when her presence becomes an embarrassment.
Henry & Lenore Rindell. Maia’s parents clearly love their daughter and they’re not afraid to put in a good word to Diane to get her daughter some special treatment. However, Henry (Diane’s friend since college) has been involved in less than scrupulous business activities and he’s arrested by the FBI for running a Ponzi scheme. Diane’s retirement money was in Henry’s investment fund, so when he goes down she’s not left with a lot of options. But Henry maintains his innocence and says that his brother and co-owner is actually the guilty party.
Amy Breslin. Maia’s girlfriend works in the State Attorney’s office and when Henry is arrested she cautions her girlfriend to protect herself, even as her mother begs for her support. But Amy wants to make sure Maia doesn’t suffer any legal repercussions. Her life is impacted in a huge way by the Henry scandal and she’s humiliated when a fake sex tape is put out that supposedly features the girls.
Adrian Boseman. The partner of Reddick, Boseman and Kolstad goes up against Diane as she works what she thinks is her last case, which involves a police beating. When Diane delays her retirement she’s pushed out of Lockhart, Deckler & Lee and she ends up at Boseman’s firm because he’s the only person who will hire her. Diane also manages to convince him to hire Maia.
Barbara Kolstad. She’s one of the name partners of Adrian’s firm and she’s not happy when Adrian offers Diane a job, but Adrian is convinced that Diane can be a huge asset. Barbara’s biggest concern is that Diane is too much of an alpha to be a team player and she’s very cold to her when she starts at the firm, even as Adrian is fairly welcoming. Meanwhile, THE GOOD WIFE’s Julian Cain is also working at the firm as the Managing Partner.
Colin Morello. Colin is Amy’s coworker at the State Attorney’s office and he’s a rising star there, but don’t expect to see his face in the first two episodes.
Eli’s daughter Marisa also appears beginning in the second episode and she convinces Diane to hire her as her assistant at the new firm, at least temporarily. Always a go-getter, Marisa proves herself invaluable by helping gather plaintiffs for a new class action lawsuit that the firm is trying to start.
The first two episodes THE GOOD FIGHT will stream exclusively on CBS All Access beginning tonight (February 19) at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT and 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. The pilot will also air tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
