The CW is the fifth and final network to unveil its 2016-2017 primetime schedule during Upfronts week (see NBC, Fox, ABC and CBS’ new fall schedules). The CW renewed nearly all of its existing series, which didn’t leave a lot of room on its schedule, so the network only ordered 3 new shows, which is line with recent years. One interesting new development for the network is the fact that SUPERGIRL is moving from CBS to The CW, which means that the network will have four DC universe shows for the new season (ARROW, THE FLASH, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and SUPERGIRL).
In terms of returning series, SUPERNATURAL is moving nights after staying on Wednesdays for several years, THE ORIGINALS is being held until midseason and CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND is moving to Fridays. The network will also be premiering the new seasons in October as they have been now for several years.
