Fox is delving into the criminal justice system with the new midseason events series SHOTS FIRED. The 10 hour mini series focuses on an African-American police officer who kills an unarmed white college student in a small North Carolina town. Before the town can start processing this event, the neglected murder of an African-American teen is brought to light.
The Department of Justice starts an inquiry into the shootings, led by Ashe Akino and Preston Terry — both of whom are African-American. They suspect that a cover-up may have occurred involving some of the state’s most powerful people, including North Carolina Governor Patricia Eamons
SHOTS FIRED “tackles the racial divide from all perspectives. As Ashe and Preston navigate the media attention, public debate and social unrest that come with such volatile cases, they learn that everybody has a story, and that the truth is rarely black and white.”
