According to Variety, a CRUEL INTENTIONS series could be arriving at NBC. The series had been pitched to many networks before landing at NBC, who has bought a script from the original film’s director and writer, Roger Kumble. Kumble is set to direct the pilot and co-write the series also with Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross, who will serve as executive producers.
The reboot will focus on the 16 year old son of Sebastian Valmont (played by Ryan Phillipe in the film) and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon), named Bash Casey. Bash learns of his family’s legacy upon discovering his father’s journal and trades his life in Kansas for a scholarship to San Francisco’s Brighton Preparation Academy in search of answers. He soon finds himself in a world of sex, money, power, and corruption he never could have imagined.
No word yet on when production is scheduled to begin or if any of the original film’s cast will guest star.
