With only a month to go until the premiere of SUPERGIRL, very little footage has been shown until today. While the new trailer features Kara (Melissa Benoist) using her new powers, its main focus is on the baddies, such as Maxwell Lord, played by TWILIGHT star Peter Facinelli. He helped form the Justice League International in the comics but his life took a dark turn when he gained mind control powers and was outed as a full-fledged villain in Infinite Crisis. Although there is no evidence to suggest Facinelli’s character will go down a similar path, his mysterious “interest” in Kara is a safe bet that he will.

There are also brief glimpses of Reactron and Hellgrammite, played by Chris Browning and Justice Leak. Reactron is able to generate radiation from his body after an accident while serving in the Army. In order to survive, he was given a containment suit to wear at all times, but his appearance on SUPERGIRL will look more disheveled. Hellgrammite on the other hand, is a freakish looking creature with a Predator-like mouth. Although he is a transformed entomologist in the comics, he is described as an alien in the series. His main powers include super strength, super leaping, secreting adhesives, and being able to entrap victims in cocoons to turn them into “larvae” versions of himself.

Another major villain not featured in the trailer is Red Tornado, played by Iddo Goldberg, who is described as “the most advanced android the world has ever seen.” Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow (also played by Goldberg) for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City.
