Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Questions with GREY’S ANATOMY Star James Pickens Jr.

James Pickens Jr. plays the wise and former Chief of surgery, Dr. Richard Webber on the fan favorite ABC hospital drama, GREY’S ANATOMY. I spoke with James about Richard and Catherine’s (Debbie Allen) relationship, what he thinks about Dr.Burke (Isaiah Washington) returning to the show, and how the hospital will deal with everyone being sick in tonights episode!

How will the hospital deal with everyone being sick? What is in store for the patients and other surgeons?
James Pickens Jr.: Everyone’s trying to tough it out and stay professional without running to the bathroom that much. The surgeons are pushing their agendas and the patients just want to get healed.

What is the future for Richard and Catherine Avery? Do you think they will end up together? Would you like to see them end up together?
Some exciting things are evolving between the two of us, Debbie’s a wonderful talent and has brought great energy to the show.

What do you think of the new interns? Do you think some of them won’t make it through the program?
They are all very talented and bright and you’ll have to wait and see who will or wont make it. They all bring special gifts to the residency program.

We really never see Richard’s reactions when someone exits the show. We never see what he’s going through when a lead dies or leaves the hospital. Being Richard is closest to Bailey how do you think he would react if she ever left the hospital? (Of course we hope she never leaves!)
He would celebrate the remarkable journey that they’ve taken together! (and yes we hope that doesn’t happen!)

How do you feel about Dr. Burke coming back for an episode? Can you tell us anything about Cristina’s (Sandra Oh) interaction with him, or her exit from the show?
I was excited to hear he was coming back. His presence when he was part of the cast was dynamic, and his relationship with Cristina was very special, and is crucial to the full circle of Cristina’s departure.
