A HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Spoiler to be Thankful For
The TV Addict has just learned something awesome. Actually, it’s not so much awesome, as legendary. Seriously. For on November 23, not only are HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER fans invited to a very special Thanksgiving-themed episode in which Lily’s estranged father (played by special guest star Chris Elliot) shows up announced and in doing so, allows for us to learn what led to their estrangement three years prior. The episode’s title is… wait for it… “Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap.” More first look photos of which can be found after the jump.
Good News, Bad News: BROTHERS & SISTERS, UGLY BETTY & HEROES
Good News: The TV Addict and Harrison Ford have something in common. Bad News: Turns out, we both watch BROTHERS & SISTERS alone. [Source]
Good News: America Ferrera doesn’t care about UGLY BETTY’s ratings. Bad News: We have a feeling ABC doesn’t feel the same way. [Source]
Good News: According to reports NBC has asked HEROES to think about the final chapter. Bad News: Only three seasons too late. [Source]
First Look: FAMILY GUY Clones Stewie
Wondering what could be more exciting than a Stewie-centric episode of FAMILY GUY: How does Stewie squared sound? We hope good! Because that my fellow FAMILY GUY addicts is exactly what’s in store for fans on November 15, when Stewie clones himself in order to have a personal assistant. Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Question with BROTHERS & SISTERS Showrunners David Marshall Grant and Allison Schapker, Who Set the Record Straight
First off, I’d be remiss if I didn’t congratulate you on your new job as BROTHERS & SISTERS showrunner. That said, there’s been an awful lot of speculation about the change of leadership and I’m hoping you can set the record straight.
David Marshall Grant: The holy grail of writing is the chance to develop your own show and move forward and after three years of Allison [Schapker], Monica [Breen] and I writing, collaborating and slogging through it, Allison and Monica wanted the opportunity to develop other things aside from this show. BROTHERS & SISTERS is insanely demanding, and something we can’t really do without them. So there was a discussion about how we could make a transition so that they could do more of what they wanted to to — be writers — but leave the actually responsibility of showrunning to somebody else. So I ended up slowly taking the reigns over from them and the transition has been pretty smooth.
And Allison, since you’re on the line, I imagine it was an amicable transition?
Allison Schapker: It’s been very smooth by Hollywood standards. And actually, I’m on the line because I wanted to talk about the “Wig Party” which was the final episode Monica and I oversaw as showrunners. David wrote it and it really speaks to the transition and is an episode we’re really proud of. Monica and I love the show, loved working as showrunners and David’s right, it was incredibly demanding but very satisfying. But we had a long run of it and I’m excited about taking the next step forward. David has been with the show from the beginning, he is a superstar and we’re so excited to pass the baton over to him. He’s going to great things with BROTHERS & SISTES and the fact that we still get to work with him and everyone we love on the show while at the same time do some other things is great.
Last Minute Halloween Costumes for TV Addicts
As many of my fellow TV Addicts can attest, keeping up with our favorite shows of late seems more-and-more like a full time job. Which is why, in the spirit of the season, this TV Addict thought we’d once again lend a hand by offering up some brilliant quick-and-easy ideas for last minute Halloween costumes. You know, on the off chance you’re not nearly as resourceful as our fellow-CHUCK-obsessed TV blogger Rae.

Channel Surfing: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, PARKS AND RECREATION, 30 ROCK, LOST
In this era of internet spoilage (Thank-you-very-much-Michael-Ausiello) it’s an increasingly rare treat when this TV Addict finds himself genuinely surprised by a character death. And while we’re the first to admit that thanks to a flurry of pre-episode interviews, this seasoned TV blogger probably should have seen last night’s killer VAMPIRE DIARIES ending coming, serious kudos must go out to actress Kayla Ewell for delivering a character so devilishly fun, we didn’t want to go there. Seriously. Vicki, it was way too soon. But if shows like HEROES have taught us anything, it’s that (a) if you’re going to be the first character to go, you might as well do so when the show’s still the talk of the town (or twitter). And (b) whether it be in ghost form or flashback, we have a feeling that you’ll be back.
The resurgence of PARKS AND RECREATION continued last night with a hilarious Halloween themed instalment that had Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope matching wits with 15-year old teenage hooligan named Greg Pikitis. Not only did Pikitis — or as we’re calling him, the most diabolical teenaged vandal since the heydays of one Bart Simpson — provide for an eerily perfect foil for Knope, his shenanigans managed to give hilarious co-stars Louis CK and Chris Pratt some much deserved time in the spotlight. So much so that we’re really hoping this little trick-or-treat-battle-of-wits becomes a PARKS AND RECREATION annual tradition.
