Jenny’s This Week on TV

Welcome to a new week for This Week on TV! Whew, what a week last week was! Like last week, I’ll highlight the new shows and everything else will be in the list, cause otherwise, this will be 10 pages long! lol So let’s get started!

SUNDAY

Sunday has no series premieres but there are quite a few season premieres as well as a couple of season finales.

First up is the season finale of Rock of Love with Bret Michaels on VH1 at 9/8c. The last two women go to Cabo San Lucas before Bret makes his final choice.

Also tonight is the season finale of Sunset Tan on E! at 10:30/9:30c. A party gets the Olly Girls fired; Erin replaces Janelle, who is on probation for her antics.

Also on tonight:

MONDAY

Monday is the series premiere of several shows. The biggest by far is Aliens in America on the CW at 8:30/7:30c. Justin Tolchuck is a sensitive, lanky 16-year-old just trying to make it through the social nightmare of high school in Medora, Wisconsin, with the help of his well-meaning mom Franny (Amy Pietz, Caroline in the City), aspiring-entrepreneur dad Gary (Scott Patterson, Gilmore Girls) and his beautiful and popular younger sister Claire. Worried about Justin’s lack of friends, and thinking that an athletic, brilliant Nordic teen will bestow instant coolness on her outsider son, Franny signs up for the school’s international exchange student program. However, when the Tolchuck’s exchange student arrives, he turns out to be Raja Musharaff (Adhir Kalyan, “Fair City”), a 16-year-old Muslim from a small village in Pakistan. Despite the cultural chasm between them, Justin and Raja quickly develop a bond that makes them both feel a little less “alien.”

Next up is the series premiere of 2 shows on My Network TV. First, at 8/7c is Celebrity Expose, which is a newsmagazine that will go behind the headlines to show the lives of celebrities. Tonight’s episode is about Lindsay Lohan. Following that is Control Room Presents: Maroon 5 at Montreal’s Cabaret Club at 9/8c. This concert series will also offer behind-the-scenes interviews and back-stage access.

Next up tonight is the series premiere of Bridging the Gap on VH1 at 11/10c. This half-hour music series documents two established artists coming together for the first time to explore their shared musical passions. Each episode will feature two artistic individuals with mutual admiration for one another — one of whom inspired the other by paving the way before them. Despite this respect, they have yet to collaborate together. In the span of a day, these artists will come together to discuss life and music and leave with a new track created by one of today’s hottest producers. Together they’ll find the right hook to merge the best of both artists’ worlds. There is a 2nd episode tonight at 11:30/10:30c.

Finally tonight is the series premiere of Dr. Steve-O on USA at 11:05/10:05c. The show will follow the adventures of one-of-a-kind personality Steve-O, a member of a dying breed of live-life-to-the-max daredevils who is disgusted with the alarming number of “wussified” men in America. He travels around the country on a mission to “de-wussify” wimps, nerds and couch potatoes who have been nominated by their buddies, girlfriends, wives, mothers, coworkers or even have nominated themselves. Administering his brand of “extreme attitude adjustments,” including shockingly hilarious stunts and embarrassingly funny and demented dares specifically tailored to each patient of the doctor on call, Steve-O will confront the guys, infiltrate their lives and shock them out of their shells.

Also on tonight:

TUESDAY

Tuesday is the series premiere of several shows, starting with Cavemen on ABC at 8/7c. Meet three cavemen who have successfully made the move to San Diego and are just trying to fit in. Joel is a sophisticated and intelligent man who has a beautiful girlfriend, a decent job and shares an apartment with his younger brother, Andy, and his best friend, Nick (Nick Kroll, VH1’s Best Week Ever). Nick is wary of the Homo sapien world and feels like he’s running away from his heritage. Andy, on the other hand, looks at this new world with his eyes wide open and is willing to take risks in order to learn and live life to the fullest.

Following that is the premiere of Carpoolers on ABC at 8:30/7:30c. Life in the fast lane the carpool lane, that is — proves a hilarious occasion for male bonding for four guys from very different backgrounds. These four use their commuter confessional as a way to commiserate about their jobs, their families, their hopes and their secrets, because in the carpool lane, no one can hear you scream.

Finally tonight is the premiere of Rags to Riches: Nick Cannon on VH1 at 11/10c. Award winning talent Nick Cannon has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with, and he shows no signs of slowing down. From a successful TV and film career, executive producing two MTV hit series and creating chart topping music hits, Nick has flourished into a one-man entertainment conglomerate. Join Nick Cannon, as he takes viewers through the streets of South East San Diego to expose his touching and personal account of early struggles and humble beginnings. Now he is giving back to his community and to the people who helped him realize his stardom.

Also on tonight:

WEDNESDAY

Wednesday is the series premiere of Pushing Daisies on ABC at 8/7c. From Bryan Fuller (Heroes, Wonderfalls) and Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) comes a new series with an unprecedented blend of romance, fantasy and mystery, a forensic fairytale about Ned, a young man with a very special gift.

Also tonight is the premiere of Better Half on Bravo at 11:15/10:15c. Hosted by Curb Your Enthusiasm star Susie Essman, the new series Better Half puts a new spin on Bravo’s reality competition programs that explore creative professions. In each episode, the spouses/mates of two trained professionals such as chefs, comedians, party planners, and hairstylists square off in competition. The professionals have two days to coach their novice partner to take on their jobs and beat the opposing “better half” in a final challenge. Each week, three judges renowned in the featured line of work will assess how well each couple executed the job handoff. Skilled in managing her own “better half,” the outspoken and honest Essman will shadow, needle and critique how the couples listen, learn and love without killing each other first.

By the way, I missed it last week, but SciFi is airing the show Haunted from 2002 that starred Matthew Fox (of Lost fame). Tonight is the 2nd episode. If you like MF, check it out!
