Hello TV lovers! First, I want to say that on Monday, it will have been 5 years since the planes crashed into the Twin Towers, Pentagon and the field in Pennsylvania. My mom used to tell me that she remembers exactly what she was doing when JFK was shot. I’m the same way about 9/11. My son was in preschool and I was on the way home from taking him to school when it happened. I rushed home and turned on the tv and computer, to find out as much as I could. I spent hours and hours and hours that day glued to the tv and computer, chatting, crying, being amazed. I was in 45 minutes from Oklahoma City when the OKC bombing occured in 1995, and this hit me just as hard, even though it was further away. Five years later, it is still hard to look back and remember, but on 9/11 of this year, that’s what I’ll be doing. Remembering and praying for people around the world that go through this and worse every day. Now, there is some great stuff on tv this week, so let’s get started!
Sunday starts off the week with some FOOTBALL! Watch NFL Football: Indianapolis Colts at New York Giants on NBC. FOX is featuring the season premieres of their Sunday night comedies, including The Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy and my favorite of the night, The War At Home, in which the kids return to school, Mike has issues with his current romantic interest, Hilary changes her study habits & Larry reinvents himself. Three Moons Over Milford is also new tonight (Alex quits school to work for Michelle Graybar!), and if you are in the mood for remembering, ABC & CBS are showing The Path to 9/11 (Part 1 of 2) and 9/11 respectively. The Wire has it’s 4th season premiere on HBO tonight, along with the series finale of Just Legal on The WB.
Monday is the premiere of Monday Night Football on ESPN. President Bush is going to be giving a Presidential Address at 9/8c, which should last about 20 minutes, so if you are going to watch something (like Vanished that normally starts at that time, adjust your viewing/recording accordingly. New episodes of Prison Break, (where Abruzzi is reunited with his wife and a father and his 14-year-old daughter pick up a hitchhiking T-Bag) and Vanished are on, as well as The Path to 9/11 Part 2 of 2. ABC is splitting that up into 2 parts. Part 1 will start at 8/7c for an hour and part 2 will finish after the President speaks.
Tuesday includes some great TV! House should be VERY interesting, because House denies his physical pain and a child comes to the hospital with rectal bleeding and proclamations of being tortured by aliens. WTF. You KNOW what conclusion House is going to draw immediately! Ewww. Also catch new episodes of Standoff, Big Brother: All-Stars (in which the jury members decide which of the remaining players wins the $500,000), Rock Star: Supernova, Queer Eye & Eureka, (which is becoming one of my favorites and in which this week, Fargo invents a mental mouse that links the human brain to a mainframe computer and Taggart uses nanoids to heal a local mutt). You can also see the premieres of Dancing with the Stars, featuring Tucker Carlson, Monique Coleman, Sara Evans, Willa Ford, Vivica A. Fox, Harry Hamlin, Joe Lawrence, Mario Lopez, Shanna Moakler, Emmitt Smith & Jerry Springer, and the pilot episode of Men in Trees! It will actually air on Fridays, but the pilot is airing tonight, on a special night & time.
Wednesday has new episodes of one of my favorites, Bones and one that is quickly becoming another favorite (I absolutely ADORE Kerr Smith!), Justice, in which authorities accuse an Orange County bartender of murdering a runaway bride. ABC has the Dancing with the Stars 2nd episode, along with ABC Sneak Peek for all their new & some returning comedy, reality & drama shows, including Ugly Betty, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, The Nine & Six Degrees.
Thursday is a mix of comedy & reality, with Til Death & Happy Hour and Celebrity Duets & the premiere of Survivor. If you haven’t heard about this season’s Survivor, it promises to be one of the most controversial ever! Look for a special column I’m writing on Wednesday about the all new season!
Friday, we’ve got new episodes of Nanny 911 (not that I’m advocating you watching! 😉 ), the results show of Celebrity Duets, a repeat of the Men in Trees pilot, in case you missed it Tuesday and a NEW episode in its regular night & time of Men in Trees. Also watch members of the Lucian Alliance attack and board the Odyssey & Mitchell go under cover to track it down on Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, where the team is stranded on a planet where the effects of an abandoned wraith experiment threaten to turn them against each other.
That wraps up This Week on TV! Don’t forget to look for my column on Wednesday about Survivor, where I’ll have some info & scoop on the new season! If you have any questions or comments, please comment below or email me! jenny@thetvaddict.com
