To borrow a phrase made popular by the ubiquitous Kathy Griffin, “Chad Decker can suck it.” For unlike the now-infamous reporter who last week 13 million of you watched trade in his journalistic integrity for a once-in-a-lifetime exclusive one-on-one with head Visitor Anna, this TV Addict doesn’t believe in compromise. As you’ll see in our own no-holds-barred interview with her portrayer Morena Baccarin, who was kind enough to take some time to answer some pressing (and a few not-so-pressing) questions about what us lowly humans can expect in the coming weeks on ABC’s smash sci-fi hit V.
Bluntly, is Anna a “good” V or a “bad” V?
Morena Baccarin: Maybe she’s a little bit of both, I suppose it depends on who you ask.
Do you, as the actress playing her, have a definitive answer to that question?
I sort of know the answer but to be honest I feel like what I know can change. Especially when the producers may be telling me something only to have other plans for me later on. They are a very wily bunch and really only tell us what we need to know.
Last week’s premiere saw Anna spend an awful lot of time with reporter Chad Decker (Scott Wolf), how long until she comes face-to-face with Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell) or Ryan (Morris Chestnut)?
Anna does interact with more human characters, but not those two in particular. Coming up, Anna shares scenes with Tyler (Logan Huffman), Lisa (Laura Vandervoort), Marcus (Christopher Shyer) and some new characters. You’ll get to see more sides of Anna through those people and there’s definitely more stuff with Chad.

V, a “re-imagining” of the one-off NBC miniseries that ran during the 1983 TV season, quickly found itself on my list of the fall’s most promising new shows. Though my impression was only based on seeing very brief clips made available during ABC’s annual Upfront presentation, I distinctly remember latching on to three things: that this could be scary-good as opposed to cheesy-good; whether it was intended or not, this seems allegorical of Obama’s presidential campaign and subsequent presidency; and Elizabeth Mitchell will be on TV for the time being, thank God.
This vision of Kenneth Johnson’s reptilian space invaders is more utilitarian than creepy. It’s all muted ambiance: giant saucers eclipse the sky, hovering over the world’s major cities, rumbling the ground beneath it, sending crucifixes and fighter jets careening down. Millions gather in awe and despair as cable news talking heads chatter in the background.
As the ships ascend the skyline, their holographic, luminescent undersides act as a giant television screens (yes, like Blade Runner), from which we meet Anna, Visitor High Commander, and the focal point for what looks (and this is the case for all the subtexts vying for attention here) to be a cogent, if long, winded, and murky, allegory of Barack Obama.

As readers of this website can attest to, I’m only slightly obsessed with EVERWOOD. So before we get into V, I first have to ask you about your experience on the show.
Scott Wolf: I consider myself really lucky to have been able to have been a part of some really great stories and some really great casts but that one was really special, some of my greatest memories are of being part of the cast of EVERWOOD. As you probably know I was not part of the original cast and in a way I was sort of joining their Christmas dinner. But they were just really incredibly welcoming and the writers gave me some really fun stuff to do. I don’t have a typical bad guy face so anytime I’m cast as a good guy who has some baggage and some issues to work out it was fun. Plus, it was so nice to be a part of telling really compelling stories that years later people still stop you and say how much they loved. It really means something to me and is one of my favorite aspects about what I get to do.
Had the show not been unceremoniously cancelled by the CW (yup, still bitter) would viewers have been treated to the return of Dr. Jake Hartman?
While there was nothing ever really definitive at the time, I felt ready to potentially move onto other opportunities. I had only actually signed on to do one season of the show but was having so much fun and saw so much potential for the character that I think everybody felt it would be good to extend my stay to two seasons. And at two seasons, while they weren’t killing Jake — and there was always potential he would show back up in town — it felt like the story had come to a place where it made sense for Jake to move on.

The GOOD WIFE
Now, stop us if you’ve heard this one before. A public figure gets caught in a very-public scandal and must defend himself while his mortified/humiliated wife graciously stands by his side. Of course, what you probably haven’t heard — after the cameras, nosey reporters and the invitations to guest co-host THE VIEW quiet down— is what happens next. Which is where the titular wife (played to pitch perfect perfection by ER vet Julianna Marguilies) comes in. Will Marguilies’ Alicia Florrick be able to navigate the complexities of work and family while husband Peter (Chris Noth) serves time in the crowbar salon? It certainly will be fun to watch, especially thanks to some of Mrs. Florrick’s new co-workers who include Matt Czuchry (GILMORE GIRLS), Josh Charles (SPORTS NIGHT) and the always entertaining Christine Baranski (CYBILL). THE GOOD WIFE premieres on Tuesday September 22nd at 10PM on CBS, GlobalTV in Canada
FLASHFORWARD
Why does the entire world black out for precisely two minutes and thirty-three seconds, leaving some (including stars Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Sonya Walger among others) with glimpses into a perilous and possibly terrifying future event that will occur on April 19, 2010. Yeah… we have no idea. But what we do know is that thanks to a phenomenal pilot and a final scene that will have you wishing you could flash forward to next week’s episode, ABC execs can breath a deep sigh of relief, having officially found the next big series everybody will be talking about. FLASH FORWARD premieres on Thursday September 24th at 8PM on ABC

Welcome to our morning round-up of big/interesting TV news that you may have missed over the past 24 hours because unlike us, there’s a fairly good chance that have a life outside of the small screen.
Good News: NBC’s SOUTHLAND won’t get lost in the avalanche of Friday premieres which include the splashy re-launches of MEDIUM and DOLLHOUSE. Bad News: Instead, it will just get lost, with the Peacock network pushing the sophomore series premiere date back a month to Friday October 23. [Variety]
Good News: A GILMORE GIRL grad will be joining ABC’s HANK on a recurring basis. Bad News: Said grad is not Alexis Bledel, rather it’s SAMANTHA WHO? survivor Melissa McCarthy, who has signed on to play sister-in-law to Kelsey Grammer’s Hank. [EW]
Good News: Warner Bros Television swears that the two-week temporary shutdown of ABC’s much-buzzed about V, “was put in place so that the writers would have time to beef up future scripts and bring them in line with the quality of the pilot.” Bad News: But just in case, who wants to be in charge of reserving saveV.com? Anyone? [TheWrap]
Good News: Summer Glau is officially joining the DOLLHOUSE for a mult-episode arc that will have Glau playing a character named Bennett who shares a past with Eliza Dushku’s Echo. Bad News: RIP TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. [Dollverse]

Question: For quite some time now you’ve been kind enough to provide your fellow TV Addicts with an incredibly useful calendar highlighting the month’s big TV events. Seriously, my cubicle at work is practically wallpapered with them and I really can’t thank you enough for your hard work. The only problem is that you totally dropped the ball when it came to August. Please explain yourself? — HookedonTVA
The TV Addict: Truthfully, the TV Addict was on strike. And by that I mean, if the networks aren’t going to bother to program quality television in August, I certainly am not going to take time away from my FREAKS AND GEEKS marathon busy schedule to help promote the return of MILLIONAIRE on ABC. Plus, between Comic Con, my much-deserved vacation and the Television Critics Association Press Tour, I simply ran out of time. That said — here in a nutshell is everything you need to know for August: MONK and PSYCH returned to USA on August 7, MAD MEN returns to AMC on August 16, PROJECT RUNWAY makes it’s Lifetime premiere on August 20, TOP CHEF returns to Bravo on August 19, while GREEK picks up exactly where it left off on ABC Family on August 31.
Question: GMMR has got me totally hooked on GREEK. Got any spoilers? — Cappietastic
The TV Addict: Are you sitting down? Because I’m about to drop an honest-to-goodness GREEK game-changer on you. A spoiler so big, it may-or-may-not rock Greek row forever. Ready for it? When the hit ABC Family series returns from hiatus on August 31 [Please take a moment to ensure that there are no spill-able liquids within your computer's proximity!] expect to see hear a proposal from a series regular.
Question: Loved your sneak peek at FRINGE’s second season premiere, but found myself wondering as to why it was completely William Bell free? — TheOtherSider
The TV Addict: Unfortunately, there is a very good reason that my little tease was completely William Bell free —because that’s exactly what the episode was. Leonard Nimoy was MIA. That said, FRINGE executive producer Jeff Pinkner did confirm at last week’s TCA panel for the show that Nimoy has already filmed one episode for season two and “is welcome back as much as he wants.”

5:25PM: Although V executive producer Scott Peters is quick to joke that his secret plan is to try and attract every single Sci Fi fan by turning V into what one critic calls the LOVE BOAT of science fiction courtesy of a cast that includes alum from FIREFLY, THE 4400 and LOST, he promises he really did go with the best actors we could find.
5:27PM: Elizabeth Mitchell reconfirms what every LOST fan already knew: That she is indeed returning to the island (the island, of course being Hawaii, where the show shoots) — more than once — and naturally cannot speak to the fate of Juliet, “I can’t say whether Juliet is alive or dead, but as with all things LOST, it will be tricky.”
5:29PM: Another reporter notes that Morena Baccarin was perfectly cast as the V’s idea of what earth people want to see. Well, duh.
5:32PM: The cast, which we should mention seem to genuinely like each-other, announce their series premiere date in unison (Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 8PM.) A dramatic reading that would have been far more exciting had TV MoJoe not already broken the news hours ago.
5:33PM: A reporter asks the first of far too many questions with regards to V’s place in a post 9/11 world. VVVVvvvvv sorry, ZZZZzzzzzzzz (Yeah, it’s been a really long day!)

In an effort to fill the news void between May’s season finales and September’s fall premieres comes even more filler post-Upfront analysis courtesy of our very own Ken Tucker in-training Aleks Chan, who shares his take on this fall’s most promising new shows.
COUGAR TOWN (ABC)
Sure, the whole women-of-a-certain-age bit is a bit played-out, but this one, about a recent divorcé getting back into the dating game in her 40s, is helmed by SCRUBS creator Bill Lawrence and stars an especially game Courteney Cox, who is much better served by slapstick than being icy and bitchy on her short-lived FX series DIRT.
COMMUNITY (NBC)
THE SOUP’S Joel McHale plays a smoothly operating lawyer who’s busted for having a fake degree, and is forced to attend a junior college to save his career. McHale looks like he’s breezing through another episode of his E! show, and from the looks of the trailer, the material’s just as funny as him.
GLEE (FOX)
FOX has already aired the pilot last week, and it’s leading the pack right now. Crossing my fingers that it’s not a huge case of pilotitus.
