Watch All Your Favorites Online at theWB.com

August 27th, 2008

Good News for fans of the now defunct WB Network. The WB is officially back in business with today’s public launch of theWB.com. Bad news, you’ve got to be located in the United States to access the site, but we’ll get to that in a moment.

More importantly, theWB.com features full length episodes of some of this TV Addict’s all-times favorite shows. Including EVERWOOD, FIREFLY, FRIENDS, THE OC, SMALLVILLE, ONE TREE HILL, VERONICA MARS and GILMORE GIRLS. Not to mention ANGEL, BABYLON 5, ROSWELL and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, which fall under the category of shows this TV Addict hopes to one day find the time to watch.

Also available online will be original programming courtesy of two of the hottest names in television production. Premiering September 8th is McG’s [THE OC] SORORITY FOREVER, which is described as a mashup of the hit internet series PROM QUEEN and THE OC. While Josh Schwartz is working diligently [no doubt in the four minutes of daily free time between producing CHUCK and GOSSIP GIRL] on the UNTITLED JOSH SCHWARTZ MUSIC PROJECT, with Special Guest Star Misha Barton! Okay, so we totally made that last part about Misha Barton up. But in our defense, it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea for the girl to show up an internet site that isn’t called perezhilton.com.

Exclusive Interview: QUARTERLIFE Star Maite Schwartz

January 25th, 2008

Maite Schwartz quarterlife
By: Amrie Cunningham [My Take on TV]

I say this all the time, but seriously, one of the greatest things about being a part of thetvaddict.com, besides the ability to have an excuse to watch hours upon hours of TV during any given week, is the really wonderful interviews I get to do. Last week, I had the chance to talk to Maite Schwartz, who plays Lisa on Quarterlife. From the creators of My So Called Life, the internet-based show follows 20-some-things interacting, loving, hating, learning, growing, etc., in 8-10 minute increments on a bi-weekly basis. As the show readies itself for a February premiere on NBC, Maite (who I’m sure is poised to become a serious household name) and I chatted for a bit about why she wanted to play Lisa, why acting has had such an amazing impact on her life, and why guys who play with food for a living are pretty awesome.

I’m completely addicted to Quarterlife. Seriously, when I know there’s going to be a new episode, I jump on the computer to make sure I catch it. I think it’s really gotten that way for a lot of viewers.
Maite Schwartz:
My sisters are in college and a bunch of my friends who were like yeah I’m not going to get into it, a bunch of them are like, yeah, I’m addicted to it. It’s also cool, because you get the snippets that make you want more.

You only have 8-9 minutes of these people you get invested in; it’s a lot easier to say “I need to see more.”
Exactly. As much as I love watching a full hour episode, sometimes it’s like all at once, and then you’re like damn, I have to wait for the rest of the week and it’s just nice that you can get two shots a week. And I like that they have all the message boards and people can talk amongst themselves about that, so it’s pretty cool.

TV on iTunes is Officially Here

December 12th, 2007

The Good News: TV shows have finally arrived on iTunes [click here]. The Bad: there’s nothing this TV Addict would pay to watch. After-all, there’s only so much excitement one can muster for made-in-Canada content like ROBSON ARMS, CORNER GAS and LITTLE MOSQUE ON THE PRAIRIE.

That said, at the very least, it’s a start. And this TV Addict can only hope that CTV, CBC and the NHL network were added first in an effort to be politically correct and that the good stuff [ie. ABC, CBS, FOX and the CW] are coming soon. Stay Tuned…

Available upon launch are shows expected from CBC, CTV and a handful of US networks. Needless to say, theTVaddict.com will be checking the iTunes store hourly in an effort to provide you with news the moment shows are made available. Merry Christmas Canada!

Luckily for us, the CW’s no dummy [although VERONICA MARS fans may disagree] and have currently made CHRIS, ALIENS and GIRLFRIENDS available for free on iTunes by clicking here.

Do you know what that means? After countless years on the air, this TV Addict will finally be tuning into his first episode of GIRLFRIENDS! That my friends is the power of iTunes. NBC, take note.

Download FOX Shows Free on iTunes

September 21st, 2007

Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) and Apple today announced that for the first time ever, series and season premiere episodes of FOX’s fall series will be available free on the iTunes Store beginning this week. Series include the debuts of new shows BACK TO YOU, KITCHEN NIGHTMARES and K-VILLE, as well as returning favorites PRISON BREAK, BONES, AMERICAN DAD and ’TIL DEATH. These FOX premieres will be available free on iTunes beginning the day after their respective launches for two weeks. [click here to head on over to iTunes]

“iTunes customers are going to love being able to purchase new and returning FOX shows on the iTunes Store,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of iTunes. “We’re thrilled FOX decided to kick off the fall season with such an incredible promotion on iTunes.”

Eddy Cue, we at theTVaddict.com couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Who doesn’t love effortlessly [and legally] being able to purchase their favorite TV shows on iTunes to play on our iPods and iPhones. Free downloads will certainly make this TV Addict’s upcoming five hour flight to LA a lot easier. Here’s hoping NBC starts to take note. Because not only does Amazon Unbox not work on a plane, I’m sure it doesn’t fit on my Mac, iPod or iPhone.
