Which means it’s time for another installment of May We Suggest: TV on DVD. [How many hours until HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER returns?]

Tonight’s theme is “Brilliant But Cancelled” and features an eclectic mix shows we wish were still on the air.

Our evening kicks off at 8PM with FOX’s ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT and KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL, followed by our behind-the-scenes Hollywood hour at 9PM courtesy of Jay Mohr’s ACTION and Darren Star’s GROSSE POINTE. 10PM brings us a double helping of Aaron Sorkin. As we press play on the under-appreciated gem that was SPORTS NIGHT, finishing off the hour with a condensed version of STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP. All the Sorkin greatness minus the parts where he gets too preachy and condescending.

In an effort to stave off March Madness. No, not the Basketball Tournament, the next pesky few weeks where us TV Addicts go stir crazy as we anxiously await for the return of Jim and Pam, Meredith and Derek and the Walker Family. This TV Addict will be periodically offering up TV on DVD Theme nights. Tonight’s theme: Nerd, err sorry… Genre TV.

Watch as this TV Addict lures the STAR TREK set away from WORLD OF WARCRAFT with three simple words: Seven of Nine. Actually, while no woman in the history of television wore a tighter space suit than Jeri Ryan, we actually thought STAR TREK VOYAGER was TREK’s weakest incarnation. So at 8PM why not enjoy the best TREK has to offer with the perennially underrated STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE. Followed by Joss Whedon’s brilliant-but-cancelled FIREFLY [We suggest the episode where THE OC’s Melinda Clarke plays a space madame]. Finishing off the night at 10PM with the cult classic that simply refuses to die BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER.

While this news will most likely come as little surprise to fans of this web site, the TV Addict is addicted to buying TV on DVD.

Now generally — this problem is one that I’ve managed to control. Years in TVAA [TV Addicts Anonymous] combined with the recent realization that the money I’ve spent on TV boxed sets could have probably bought me a 50″ flat screen [or a house!] has curbed my spending habits immensely.

That said, vacationing in America changes everything.

Take this morning for instance. Against my better judgement, I took a ride over to the local TARGET after reading online that the third season of THE OFFICE was on sale for only $19.99!

And that my friends was mistake number one. Thirty minutes later this TV Addict left the store with a far heavier shopping bag, and one helluva lighter wallet.

BONES Seasons 1 & 2, THE OFFICE Seasons 1 & 3, DEXTER Season 1, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Season 2, The Best of LARRY SANDERS, THE OC Season 4 and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Season 1.
