Billboard is reporting that in an effort to promote the fall season, ABC is producing music videos for several of its new and returning shows, including UGLY BETTY, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, GREY’S ANATOMY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS and more. Music videos, we’re cool with. But listen up ABC. If we have to hear The Fray’s HOW TO SAVE A LIFE one more time, we’re going to have to check ourselves into Seattle Grace.

Ellen DeGeneres has signed a deal with TBS to shoot a two-hour variety show this November at the Comedy Festival in Las Vegas. As a result, TBS has re-earned the slogan this TV Addict took away from them after making me sit through the premiere of THE BILL ENGVALL SHOW. Congrats TBS. Ellen Degeneres, very funny. Bill Engvall, not so much.

According to THE SUN, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star Andrea Bowen will be getting herself a new onscreen boyfriend when the show returns this fall. You know what Bowen, who plays Teri Hatcher’s daughter Julie could use instead of a boyfriend? Some acting lessons. Rory Gilmore she ain’t.

Today’s least surprising piece of news — the incomprehensible disaster of series known as JOHN FROM CINCINNATI has been officially cancelled. No word on how HBO’s going to make amends for wasting ten hours of our lives. But they can start by delivering on those promised DEADWOOD movies.

TNT announced today that SAVING GRACE has received a network order for an additional 15 episodes. Which would be exciting news, assuming I didn’t already have my plate full with four other strong yet incredibly flawed woman courtesy of DAMAGES, THE CLOSER, WEEDS, MY BOYS… well you get the idea.

According to a new study released by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, TV isn’t gay enough. Evidently GLAAD doesn’t get BRAVO. Jokes aside, this TV Addict thinks television’s come a long way over the last ten years and rather than attack the big networks, perhaps GLAAD should take the time to applaud them. After-all, WILL & GRACE, BROTHERS & SISTERS & UGLY BETTY are three examples of shows that would never have made it to air twenty years ago.

The TV Zone is reporting that JERICHO is getting ready to hold a fan convention in Oakley Kansas on September 14-16. First an OFFICE convention in Stanford, now a JERICHO convention in Oakley Kansas. Great, two cities I couldn’t find without the help of Google Maps. Forget Oakley and Sanford, call me when LOST has a convention in Hawaii. There’s a convention I’d sell my TiVo to attend.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, CBS has signed a deal to make an American version of the BBC hit THE WORST WEEK OF MY LIFE. Or as Lindsay Lohan calls it, last week.

Who knew there were so many ordinary people with extraordinary power secretly roaming the planet. TVGuide is reporting that David Anders (Sark from ALIAS) has officially been bumped to series regular status after the powers that be were pleased with his initial guest star stint. Anders addition to HEROES brings the ever-expanding cast to at least fifteen. Which can mean only one thing. We wouldn’t get too attached to any of the new second season heroes anytime soon. No doubt Sylar’s going to be sent on an opening season rampage (at the request of NBC’s budget department).

Turns out ABC is just realizing that it takes more than an incredibly good looking cast to make a hit show. TV Guide is reporting that VERONICA MARS mastermind Rob Thomas has been brought on board to BIG SHOTS as a consulting producer. Needless to say, if Rob Thomas can make Michael Vartan, Dylan McDermott, Christopher Titus and Joshua Malina sound as smart as Kirsten Bell — give this man an Emmy.

For those of you keeping track, that means that DAYS OF OUR LIVES was completely shut out in the acting categories.

In the writing category, B&B, GH, GL and Y&R scored nods. And in the all-important outstanding drama (aka Best Show) field, it’ll be B&B, GL, OLTL and Y&R looking for a win. (Don’t even get us started on how OLTL can be a contender for best show but not best writing, and vice versa for GH.)

In non-sudsy categories, JEOPARDY, THE PRICE IS RIGHT and WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE will fight for the right to be called outstanding game/audience participation show.

Best talk show host nods went to the ladies at THE VIEW (Babs, get ready to thank Rosie for your win), Dr. Phil, Ellen DeGeneres, Tyra Banks (yeah, right!), Rachael Ray and SOAPTALK’s co-hosts, Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway. As for outstanding talk show, the nominations are DR. PHIL, THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW, THE TYRA BANKS SHOW (sorry, we need a moment to compose ourselves following our gigglefest), RACHAEL RAY and THE VIEW.

Our personal picks? GH’s Francis (if that show doesn’t bring Laura back to the canvas fulltime and let this woman shine, heads should roll), GL’s Pelphrey and Gatschet (whose kissing-cousins storyline helped kick-start the show, which has continued to soar by focusing on the death of her character and the departure of his) and Y&R’s Stafford (although, frankly, it’s time to pump some life back into her formerly fierce alter ego). As for the best show, we’d love to see GL rewarded for its hard work, or B&B (which doesn’t get nearly the recognition it deserves). Our fondest wish: That the voters not reward Y&R, which went from “must see” to “ugh, I can’t watch” in a matter of months thanks to new head scribe Lynn Marie Latham.
