EVERWOOD star visits THE OC

August 17th, 2006

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted some news about everybody’s favourite cancelled-before-its-time show EVERWOOD, so here’s some great news to make up for it.

According to Ausiello over at TVGUIDE, EVERWOOD’s Chris Pratt (Bright), will be joining THE OC for a multi-episode arc this season. Pratt will play Che, an environmentalist that Summer (Rachel Bilson) befriends while away at college. Greg Berlanti, EVERWOOD’s creator said:

“I think it’s great for him to do an arc on another show this year, so that when pilot season comes around everybody remembers what a versatile and talented actor he is. I love Chris. I want to see him do really, really well.

the TV addict couldn’t agree more. The only bad news is that THE OC doesn’t premiere until November 2 (damn you baseball!).

Everwood Creator Jumps to Brothers & Sisters

August 15th, 2006

According to this morning’s LA TIMES, EVERWOOD Creator Greg Berlanti has agreed to join the struggling ABC drama BROTHERS & SISTERS as a showrunner, following yet another behind-the-scenes shuffle at the new series. The series, featuring a fantastic ensemble cast including Calista Flockhart, Ron Rifkin and Sally Field has been plagued with problems since the it was picked up, including to Executive Producers quitting the show. The most recent one, Marti Noxon, has refused to comment on the story.

Needless to say, with Berlanti at the helm, this TV addict will definitely be watching yet another show he didn’t intend to watch this fall season. Time to buy a second TIVO!

Rejected Pilots Find Life Online

August 4th, 2006

Hoping to be the next NOBODY’S WATCHING, rejected pilots are popping up all over YouTube in droves. According to Variety, at least four failed pilots from the 2005-06 development season have ended up online. The pilot leaks are inspired by the fact that Bill Lawrence’s NOBODY’S WATCHING was recently picked up by NBC after being rejected by the CW, after it gained a large following on YouTube. Needless to say, TV Exects are not happy, and the pilots are generally removed within hours of being posted.

Office Season 3 Spoilers

July 28th, 2006

SPOILER ALERT! Looks like JAM (Jim & Pam) Shippers are not going to be too happy with the aftermath of the BIG kiss in last season’s finale. According to the Hollywood Reporter, former BOSTON PUBLIC teacher Rashida Jones has landed a recurring role as a potential love interest and co-worker for Jim. Rumour has it that Jim will start the season at a different Dunder Mifflin branch, where Rashida Jones, Ed Helms (The Daily Show) and Charles “Chip” Esten (Whose Line) will play co-workers. Looks like we’ll have to wait at least one more season for a happily ever-after ending.

July 26th, 2006

GET OUT! Seriously, you can chat with Seinfeld’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus today online. Head on over to http://goldderby.latimes.com for TheEnvelope.com’s live internet chat session. I can’t attend, but if you do, make sure to ask her if she reads theTVaddict.com! Just Kidding. But do ask a question, and tell Julia theTVaddict says HI and I love THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE.

In related NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE news, Variety reports that Blair Underwood has signed on for a recurring role in the sitcoms sophmore season. The SEX AND THE CITY alumnist will play (surprise!) a new teacher that Christine falls for at her son’s school.

Aquaman Pilot Review

July 25th, 2006

In a move that I can only hope becomes more common place among networks, Warner Bros. Studio has recently made the un-aired pilot of AQUAMAN available for download on iTunes for $1.99 [click here to download].

In the premiere episode, we’re introduced to A.C. Curry (Justin Hartley), who by the end of the episode, discovers he is actually the long-lost prince of Atlantis and is pretty much the only man who can save both the human world and the underwater one (Atlantis). Thrown into the mix is a mysterious mentor (Ving Rhames), a Government agent, a love interest (of course!) and a step-father (Lou Diamond Phillips).

So did the show warrant a place on the new CW’s schedule? This TV Addict says YES! (not surprisingly, the show is far better then 7th HEAVEN!). Overall the pilot was enjoyable and as most successful pilots do, properly introduce us to our hero and supporting players. The episode was shot beautifully and lord knows in the cold of winter, I’d be more then happy to spend an hour a week in beautiful Tempest Florida. Yet the question is, could writers Millar and Gough (SMALLVILLE) really dream up enough adventure to ensure AQUAMAN remained interesting for 100 epidodes. Sadly we’ll never know, but I think it would have been pretty great to find out.

NBC to preview shows on Netflix

July 19th, 2006

In what the TV addict believes is a brilliant promotional move, NBC has signed a deal with Netflix (the leading internet video rental store) to offer select shows from their fall line-up to Netflix Subscribers. NBC hopes to drum up early buzz for two shows: STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP and KIDNAPPED by offering them on DVD to Netflix Subscribers

According to NBC, subscribers will be able to watch the first episodes of each of the shows and sample trailers of NBC’s other new series set to air in the 2006/2007 broadcast season. The shows will be available beginning on August 5.

Yet another reason why theTVaddict wishes NetFlix would come to Canada!
