Question of the Day: Is Friday the New Thursday?

February 13th, 2009

With tonight’s series premiere of DOLLHOUSE, the return of TERMINATOR THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and of course BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, this TV Addict is not only officially proclaiming that Friday is the new Thursday, but also the most exciting, suspenseful and emotional night of television of the week. Agree, disagree, post away.

A Conversation with TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES Star Richard T. Jones

February 12th, 2009

Richard T. Jones and the TV Addict in Los Angeles, January 2009

Let me first start off by saying how cool it is for you to take the time. Yourself and Thomas [Dekker] were not scheduled to drop by and I think it’s great to see how willing you all are to support the show.
Richard T. Jones: Well we love the show. I didn’t know Thomas was going to be here either. It’s good to see him.

Especially since you almost never get to see any of the Connors on screen. What happened to your plan [from when we last talked] for an Agent Ellison/Sarah Connor hook up?
I know right. We got to start something so fans start clamoring for Sarah and James to get together.

Because James and Catherine Weaver doesn’t exactly have the same ring to it, right? She’d probably try and kill you in your sleep.
Exactly! She’s a robot, she’s a Terminator. Even though it would probably be…. anyway.

Exclusive Interview: Thomas Dekker Fights For the Future

February 11th, 2009

john connor thomas dekker

Turns out that actor Thomas Dekker has learned a thing or two about fighting for the future over the course of two season on TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES.

Because on a chilly morning in January, Dekker took an unscheduled break from his exhaustive shooting schedule to drop by the Hotel Palomar, fight for his future employment (or as they call it in the biz, a third season pickup for TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES) to talk up what fans can expect when TERMINATOR returns to the airwaves this Friday February 13th at 8PM on FOX.

With apologies for starting this interview off on a bit of a negative note, I have to ask, are you surprised to still be on the air?
Thomas Dekker: I am and I’m not surprised, because internationally we’re doing really really well [in the ratings]. So it’s kind of that tough thing, because obviously, when you look at the ratings stateside you think “huh?” But then you look and see how we’re doing around the rest of the world and you kind of get it.

Sort of like how PRISON BREAK is huge internationally, but not so much in America?
Exactly. Most of the fan mail I get is from England.

Have you started to get recognized when you travel?
I’ve rarely been recognized because of the hair difference. Just when everyone got used to me with the long hair…. God I miss my long hair….

Really? Because I have to say, I’m not sure the fandom misses Emo John Connor.
[Laughs] The short hair is more fitting with the character, but for me, it’s a psychological need to be able to hide.

Win an Autographed TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES Poster

February 9th, 2009

Quick! What do the likes of VERONICA MARS, ELI STONE and JACK & BOBBY all have in common? Answer: they were all cancelled before their time. And you know what? We at theTVaddict.com are sick of it. We’re tired of watching our favorite shows unceremoniously dumped and replaced with super-sized installments of THE BIGGEST LOSER and DANCING WITH THE STARS.

Which is why we’ve decided to take a page from Sarah Connor and Co. and fight for the future. Their future.

Because we don’t trust you America. I mean sure, in a perfect world, TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES and DOLLHOUSE wouldn’t need our help. But if the cancellations of KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL and ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT have taught us anything, it’s that we don’t live in a perfect world, far from it. And time and time again, you, America, can’t resist flipping to the likes of WIFE SWAP, SUPERNANNY and HOWIE DO IT.

Which brings us to our plan.

If you solemnly swear (in the comments below) to tune into TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES at 8PM and DOLLHOUSE at 9PM on FOX this Friday February 13th, you will automatically be entered to win an incredible TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES poster autographed by stars Lena Headey, Thomas Dekker and Summer Glau.

One winner will be chosen at random and notified via email on Saturday February 14 so please be sure to enter with a valid email address.

We Preview Tonight’s TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES Fall Finale

December 15th, 2008

Following yesterday’s announcement (via twitter) that this TV Addict was fortunate enough to be watching (and loving) tonight’s fall finale of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, it should come as no surprise that one word quickly permeated our inbox. Spoilers, spoilers and yes, more spoilers!

Unfortunately, if we were to give away what really happens to our intrepid hero(es) in the final moments of tonight’s installment, we’re fairly confident that our good friends over at Warner Bros. PR would have us… umm… terminated. Which is why we’ve concocted this incredibly vague, non-spoilery, yet very special installment of theTVaddict.com’s patented “Good, Bad, & Ugly” in an effort to whet your appetite for tonight’s fantastic fall finale. (Airing at 8PM on FOX, “A” in Canada)

The Good: Tonight’s adventure truly lives up to the title “The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” as our titular hero heads off on her own to get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding the unexplainable three dots. Oddly enough, this week’s episode entitled, “Earthlings Welcome Here” gave even more credence to our only half-joking off-the-cuff remark last week that creator Josh Friedman was preparing for the show’s February move to Friday night by delving even further into X-Files territory. As this week, Sarah heads to a UFO convention in the hopes of discovering whether or not, you know, the truth is out there.

5 Ways to Guarantee Job Security in Hollywood

December 4th, 2008

supernatural winchester brothers

In Michael Ausiello’s latest blind item, he teased that, “If a certain TV star is reading this, they should squint extra hard to read between the lines. How come? They’ve been canned — they just don’t know it yet!”

Now aside from the fact that Ausiello’s blind items are the Hollywood equivalent of cruel and unusual punishment, what with leaving us dying to know what he does, we can’t help thinking that given the sad state of the economy, this isn’t the most ideal time to be an out-of-work actor. (Unless, of course, you’re willing to demean yourself on a reality show in which case the world could, temporarily, be your oyster!)

Which is why, as a public service to those in the industry who are working — and want to ensure that they continue to do so — this TV Addict thought he’d take a moment to offer up a few helpful hints which should prevent you from winding up in the same position as  GREY’S ANATOMY’s T.R. Knight…err… we mean whoever Ausiello’s blind item is referring to!

Random Musings: GOSSIP GIRL, ELI STONE & TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES

December 3rd, 2008

Memo to all current and future “Mean Girls.” If the best plan you can come up with to humiliate a rival girl at your upcoming Christmas, Holiday and/or Snowflake Dance is to highlight her smokin’ hot body in front of the well, the entire student body. You may want to consider going back to the drawing board. We’re just saying — by shining the spotlight both literally and figuratively on a barley clad Vanessa during Monday’s installment of GOSSIP GIRL, the Constance Meanies and Little J not only delivered the most PG wardrobe malfunction ever, they ensured that Vanessa is now etched in the fantasties of virtually every boy and probably more than a few girls at school.

Dear DirecTV. Now that you’ve successfully become the coolest satellite provider on the face of the planet by helping co-finance a third season of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. Might we trouble you to turn your show saving powers towards ABC’s ratings anemic yet highly deserving legal comedy drama hybrid ELI STONE. For reasons why, look no further than last night’s episode which perfectly incapsulated why hundreds of readers have already pledged their support for the show that quite literally has it all. Heart, laughs, drama (of both the relationship and legal variety), not to mention Victor Garber.

And finally, is it safe to assume that the mysterious three dots that Sarah Connor is seeing everywhere correlate to the exact time and date in which Judgement Day becomes a fait accompli? And more importanatly, raise your hand if you’re impressed that we’ve finally managed to work “fait accompli” into a sentence! (Fingers crossed that we spelled it correctly.)

What We’re Watching: December 1, 2008

TONIGHT’S TV ADDICTIONS:
TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES (8PM on FOX, “A” Channel in Canada)

GOSSIP GIRL (8PM CW)
Aaron, or as we like to call him, television’s lamest love interest, burns to death in a horrible plane crash. Oh wait, must not replace what we’re hoping happens with the actual story-line.

PRIVILEGED (9PM CW, E! in Canada)
‘Tis the season for Megan to get caught under the mistletoe.

BOSTON LEGAL (10PM ABC, Global in Canada)
As BOSTON LEGAL inches closer an closer to its series finale, this TV Addict must come to grips that jumping on the BL bandwagon in its final season may not have been the brightest idea.

NEW & NOTABLE:
INSIDE THE ACTOR’S STUDIO (8PM Bravo)
The Harry Potter fandom anxiously holds their breath in the hopes that Dan Radcliffe delivers a verbal smack-down to former POTTER co-star and current overhyped “it” boy Robert Pattinson. Or maybe it’s just us.

MY OWN WORST ENEMY (10PM NBC, Global in Canada)
Spoiler Alert: Turns out Christian Slater’s own worst enemy was an indifferent audience.

THETVADDICT.COM READER PICK (via Twitter):
Memles: With PUSHING DAISIES gone, CHUCK (8PM NBC, CityTV in Canada) is the last great hope for the 07 Freshman Class. It deserves our allegiance.

Week in Rewind: THE SIMPSONS, ROSIE, TERMINATOR & More!

December 1st, 2008

iFunny: Last night’s combination of two of this TV Addict’s favorite things: THE SIMPSONS and Apple mApple (see above video) was so entertaining that we’re willing to forgive the fact that FOX can’t ever seem to air their holiday episodes remotely close to their actual dates (Christmas in November?) and intolerant Homer stopped being funny five seasons ago (Memo to writers: Think Different.)

Quantity Doesn’t Equal Quality: The following are a few lessons gleaned from Rosie’s jam-packed train-wreck of a Variety Special. Alec Baldwin minus Tina Fey isn’t funny, time has not been kind to Clay Aiken and Rosie should stick to what she does best blogging. Or really, anything that doesn’t involve singing, dancing, fat jokes or sequins.
