Why Do Terminators Time-Travel Naked?

March 10th, 2009

As much as this hilarious and slightly not-safe-for-work video does its best to answer the age-old question, “Why do Terminators time-travel naked?” We’re still left asking, how does it explain Summer Glau. Thoughts?

The TV Addict Nooner: UGLY BETTY, KINGS, REAPER & More!

March 5th, 2009

Because we know you’d never surf the web on ‘company time,’ theTVaddict.com is proud to present what will hopefully become a new daily semi-daily feature: Our brief roundup of interesting, bizarre, surprising and funny TV news to help you get you through the day (or at the very least, your lunch hour.)

LISTEN: To what may be the next best thing to a Marc and Amanda spin-off, the official UGLY BETTY podcast featuring, you guessed it, Marc and Amanda. [Click here to listen]

PLAY: Reporter, in this really cool interactive trailer for NBC’s exciting new series KINGS. [Click to play]

LEARN: That the CW cares very little about the fate of REAPER as evidence by its questionable decision to launch its second season (which attracted a disappointing 2.3 million viewers) up against FOX’s unstoppable reality TV Juggernaut AMERICAN IDOL (which by comparison garnered 24.3 million viewers.) March 4th, 2009

At the risk of losing all credibility, we’re just gonna say it. We enjoyed TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES.

A Conversation with TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES Star Garret Dillahunt

February 27th, 2009

garret dillahunt terminator the sarah connor chroniclesGarret Dillahunt and the TV Addict in Los Angeles, January 2009

As regular readers of theTVaddict.com can attest to, this TV Addict loves us our SARAH CONNOR cast members. Which is why we’re thrilled to share with you our recent conversation with our favorite killer robot, Garret Dillahunt.

Can we just talk about Cromartie’s death scene for a moment. How much fun was it to shoot knowing that… you’d be back.
Garret Dillahunt: It was fun. I kind of wished we had time for effects to go even further, you know, pound me into mush. But the shotgun was pretty potent. You should have been in that room. She [Summer Glau] just shot it and the air in the room would ruffle your clothes from the gun. I thought it looked really cool and the green screen stuff they did with my face was perfect.

It was sad because at the time we weren’t sure if we’d ever see Cromartie again.
It was sad.

I mean as much as he was a killer robot sent from the future, I think fans really grew attached to Cromartie.
He was just doing his job, right? He didn’t have anything against the Connors per-say.

I imagine you were told ahead of time that you weren’t being killed off for good!
Yeah I was told a couple of episodes prior.

Pretty much you have the world’s most secure job, being an indestructible robot and all.
I know right!

Is it an entirely different show for you now that you’re playing John Henry? Are you enjoying yourself?
It’s fun to have real conversations. John Henry doesn’t have an agenda, other than curiosity at this point. He’s just trying to absorb as much information as he can. I get to be sort of infantile, childlike and genuine. But I know in upcoming episodes I’m going to be out of the room, loose in the world, and somewhat of a super-powered baby.

Ask the Addict: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, HOUSE, TERMINATOR & More!

February 27th, 2009

Hey TV Addict, lately you’ve been on a serious roll when it comes to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA spoilers, what have you got for us tonight? — LiveStrongAnders
The TV Addict:
Unfortunately, I’ve got some bad news for you that you may or may not want to hear. Tonight’s installment offers up another slow, meandering and quite frankly disappointing tale that only pays off in the exciting final act. But on the plus side, fans of both Katee Sackhoff and Grace Park in particular will be very pleased with the amount of screen-time both actresses receive.

I’m sick and tired of another episode of HOUSE that was practically Cameron and Chase free. Please tell me you’ve got some good news? — FreeCameron
The TV Addict:
I do not. Because as I learned after daring to defy the most powerful man in television scoopery earlier in the week, HOUSE scoop is the sole domain of one Michael Ausiello. That said, I do in fact have some interesting HOUSE news (just so we’re clear, it’s news not scoop) that will put a smile on the face of any and all ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT fans. On the March 16th episode of HOUSE cleverly titled “Here’s Kitty,” the always hilarious Judy Greer drops by to play a nursing-home worker who fakes sick to get House’s attention after the home’s pet cat singles her out as being on death’s door by sleeping next to her. Hilarious right? Okay not so much. But as long as the episode’s writers manage to sneak in Kitty’s trademark “Say Goodbye to These!” you won’t here me complaining.

Loved last week’s episode of DOLLHOUSE but can’t help but wonder, how long is it going to take for Tamoh Penikett’s Agent Ballard to come face-to-face with Eliza Dushku’s Echo? — TeamTamoh21
The TV Addict:
Well the good news, according to my man on the inside of the Dollhouse (also known as the FOX press release that was sent out to the media on Wednesday) is that Agent Ballard will come face-to-face and fist-to-fist with Echo for the very first time on March 20th. The bad news is that we’re not so sure as to how many viewers are going to be around to watch this epic confrontation when the series finale of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA airs at the very same time! Cut to opportunity to shamelessly plug the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Frakkin’ Finale Party that theTVaddict.com is throwing in Toronto, click here for details.

Tonight’s TV Addictions: February 20, 2009

February 20th, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES (8PM FOX)
Sarah (alongside a somewhat bewildered TV Addict) go looking for answers regarding the decimated factory as to why none of you are watching her show.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (9PM NBC)
Just when we were starting to warm up to the new Tim Riggins, he goes ahead and does something boneheaded like trying to get the team to accept freshman QB J.D. McKoy. We’re just sayin’, for the record, we’re on Team Saracen 110%.

DOLLHOUSE (9:01PM FOX, Global in Canada)
Naysayers pointed to low ratings for the premiere. But few noted that the show gave DOLLHOUSE its best Friday ratings among the much-coveted young adult demo in, like, forever. Tonight, someone gets closer to uncovering Echo’s true identity even as she is being tracked by an expert hunter.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (10PM Sci Fi, Space in Canada)
Ellen Tigh’s reunion with the Final Five rocks the Galactica in more ways then one. Boom chica boom boing pow. Okay, so porno music doesn’t exactly translate into words, but nonetheless, we think you know where we’re going with this. And if you don’t, you may have spent too many Friday’s at home watching Sci Fi (not that there’s anything wrong with that)

REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER (10PM HBO)
While CouchTater is quick to point out that “the basic flaw of this program is that everything these folks (including this week’s guest Tina Brown) talked about has been discussed to death over the course of the week.” This TV Addict is only too happy to listen to more of the same Octomom/Obama talk when it’s coming out of the mouth of the hilarious and irreverent Bill Maher.

Ask the Addict: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA & TERMINATOR Spoilers, DOLLHOUSE, KINGS & More!

February 20th, 2009

Dear TV Addict, as much as I loved last week’s mythology-laden episode BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, please tell me tonight’s episode involves a lot less thinking? — TighMeUp
The TV Addict:
Is it just me, or are TV fans incredibly hard to please? I mean we all spend season after season clamoring for answers, only to complain the moment we finally get them! God help LOSTerminds Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse when they finally fill us all in on the mysteries behind the island, the four-toed statue, Ben’s mom, Claire’s disappearance, Jack’s father… well, you get the idea. But to answer your question, rest assured tonight’s episode is far less taxing on the brain cells. Not only does Ellen Tigh return in all her former glory, she gives new meaning to the phrase, “If this Viper is a rockin’…. don’t come a knockin!”

I have an unhealthy obsession with Jonathan Jackson, can you please tell me we are going to see more of him on TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. — Jackson1
The TV Addict:
I can do one better than simply tell you, I can be the first to reveal to you exclusively that Jonathan Jackson will indeed (all together now) be back, for multiple episodes no less. “Kyle Reese is the kind of character that fans are excited about and is good for the show,” revealed Jackson during last week’s one-on-one with theTVaddict.com. “I’ve shot three episodes so far and I’m about to shoot a fourth in a couple of weeks. A lot of stuff has been in the future, and Brian Austin Green who plays Derek has been great. Such a good guy and a great actor to work with.”

A while back you twittered that you were getting ready to see Lauren Graham in GUYS & DOLLS on Broadway. So… how was she? — StarsHollowHolla
The TV Addict:
Well let’s put it this way. Had Rory Gilmore been reviewing the show for the Yale Daily News, she definitely wouldn’t have walked out. In fact, she would have been immensely proud of her fictional TV mom for not only proving that she has the pipes to belong on Broadway. But for more importantly showing that she can actually act and create a character that was hilarious, heartwarming and best of all, absolutely nothing like Lorelai Gilmore. Miss Patty would have been proud… and we’re just going to say, possibly a little jealous.

Good News, Bad News: Friday Night Ratings Edition

February 14th, 2009

Good News: Last night’s return of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES delivered one of its most exciting hours to date. Bad News: One that unfortunately also has the distinction of attracting its lowest audience to date, plunging 27% below its previous series low.

Good News: Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE helped FOX double its viewership levels among women. Bad News: Which sure sounds a heck of a lot better than Joss Whedon’s DOLLHOUSE only managing to attract 4.7 million viewers.

Good News: Thanks to the welcome return of Jason Street and the hilarity that was Tim Riggins constantly repeating (Buddy Garrity’s one line) “When all the scared rats run away from the sinking market, that’s when the real entrepreneurs step in. The true visionaries” FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS continues to score… Bad News: A mere four million viewers a night… way to drop the ball America.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES (8PM FOX, “A” in Canada)
This TV Addict’s “nerd-tastic” evening of Sci Fi goodness commences when fatal consequences result after Catherine Weaver becomes protective of John Henry. Fatal consequences?! We can’t wait!

DOLLHOUSE (9PM FOX. Global in Canada)
After gigabytes of valuable bandwidth wasted with endless rumors and speculation, the internets will finally get to see what they’ve been scrutinizing for the better part of a year now.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (9PM FOX)
Jason’s gotta figure out a way to support Erin and his son. See, that’s one of the things that makes this show so great: The people feel real and — most of the time — face real problems. Unfortunately, folks still aren’t tuning in, as proven by the fact that last week, this show had viewer viewers than HOWIE DO IT. Heck, it had viewer viewers than FUEGO EN LA SANGRE on Univision. Seriously.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (10PM Sci Fi, Space in Canada)
At long last, Ellen reunites with her people. Gee, wonder how that’s gonna go? Think she’ll be happy to find out about Saul and that trampy Six? I’m thinking “not!”
