Tonight’s TV Addictions: April 2, 2009

April 2nd, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
ER Retrospective (8PM NBC)
A look back at the dizzying highs (Dr. Ross rescues a boy caught in a storm drain) and ludicrous lows (anytime one of the Doc’s ventured off on a very special road trip) from ER’s 15 seasons.

ER (9PM NBC, CTV in Canada)
Old friends from County show up to support Carter as he opens a new medical facility for Chicago’s less fortunate. Which is kinda funny when you consider that when ER premiered 15 years ago, County General was the hospital for Chicago’s less fortunate, with anyone who had any money going to CHICAGO HOPE.

SUPERNATURAL (9PM CW)
If Sam and Dean are surprised to discover that their lives as demon hunters are accurately detailed in a series of “Supernatural comic books,” just imagine what their reaction will be when they stumble upon what the online community affectionally calls “Wincest.”

Tonight’s TV Addictions: March 19, 2009

March 19th, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
UGLY BETTY (8PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
It’s a good news/bad news situation for Betty tonight. On the plus side, she finally gets a makeover from her co-workers. But seeing as the folks who give her that makeover are Mark and Amanda, we can’t help but worry. Speaking of makeovers, Daniel and Wilhelmina decide to give Mode one as well in an effort to boost circulation.

THE OFFICE (9PM NBC, GlobalTV in Canada)
Ugh. A Michael-centric office. here’s hoping the new vice-president who comes on board tonight can balance that out, because this show is in serious danger of having its lead character drag the whole thing down.

GREY’S ANATOMY (9PM ABC, CTV in Canada)
Is it just me, or are Christina, Bailey and Mark pretty much the only characters on this show who aren’t annoying? I suppose we could throw George into the mix, too, if only because he’s not on screen enough to actually annoy us. Anyway, tonight, Izzie tries to keep her disease under wraps, Christina finally gets a solo surgery and Mark tries to do a face transplant.

SUPERNATURAL (9PM CW)
Castiel and Uriel have been kinda nasty to Sam and Dean in the past, but you know how angels are: The minute they need a favor, they come knockin’ on bended wing. Which is what happens when someone begins killing angels with Lucifer’s sword. Of course, the real question is this: Who was stupid enough to give the devil a sword in the first place?

30 ROCK (9:30PM CW, CityTV in Canada)
Liz finds out that pretty people — like her boyfriend — get special treatment. Meanwhile, Jenna’s latest bid for attention from the public could result in the worst hair day ever.

PRIVATE PRACTICE (10PM ABC, “A” in Canada)
Addison has to repress her feelings for someone who’s not as single as she’d like. Unfortunately, Addison has never really been all that great at repressing anything…

Got a Question for SUPERNATURAL’s Misha Collins?

March 16th, 2009

misha collins castiel

Having already had the pleasure of interviewing SUPERNATURAL’s Misha Collins back in the fall, this TV Addict thought in only fair to turn over our second interview with everybody’s favorite Angel to you, our far more knowledgeable and better looking SUPERNATURAL fans. Simply post your questions in the comments below before Tuesday March 17 at noon and I’ll do my absolute best to get them answered.

[Update: March 17, 3PM] Bad news SUPERNATURAL fans, I’ve just been informed by my contact at the CW that our planned interview with Misha Collins will have to be postponed due to Collins busy shooting schedule. Of course the silver-lining is that my CW source did let it slip that that the reason Collins is so busy is that the SUPERNATURAL season finale is very Castiel-heavy and includes numerous stunts.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
UGLY BETTY (8PM ABC, City in Canada)
Wilhelmina headed for the poor house? Who wouldn’t tune in to see that! As an added bonus, Christine Baranski guests as Matt’s mom, and Hilda goes on a date with Ralph Macchio. It’s almost TOO much goodness!

SMALLVILLE (8PM CW)
Remember when Tori Spelling was nice-girl Donna? Well not any more! As reporter Linda Lake, she’s blackmailing Clark in an attempt to regain her journalistic mojo. “Frak that!” says Clark, who instead outs himself to Lois!

GREY’S ANATOMY (9PM ABC, CTV in Canada)
After finally realizing that a whole hell of a lot of his patients wind up biting the dust, Derek decides to quit. Frankly, that makes sense to us. I mean, once they stop calling you McDreamy and start calling you Doctor Death, it’s all over but the singing.

THE OFFICE (9PM NBC, Global in Canada)
Michael’s latest scheme involves placing “Golden Tickets” — ala Willy Wonka — inside paper packages. Anyone else suspect this won’t end well? Meanwhile, Kevin’s out to woo a woman, so his co-workers offer him some advice. Um… anyone else suspect this won’t end well, either?

SUPERNATURAL (9PM CW)
Baby, don’t fear the reaper. Especially now that all the reapers have gone missing, allowing people to literally cheat death! Sam and Dean journey to the netherworld (insert spooky sounds here) to find out what the heck’s going on.

30 ROCK (9:30PM NBC, City in Canada)
Liz has jury duty, which means the staff of TGS has no babysitter. Wacky chaos ensues.

PRIVATE PRACTICE (10PM ABC)
Pete and Sheldon want Violet to take a paternity test. And who can blame them? Meanwhile, Sam commits the ultimate boyfriend sin when he calls his current girlfriend by his ex-wife’s name… while in bed. Yeah, that’s bad.

ER (10PM ABC, E! in Canada)
Thanks to a cavalcade of original series stars including Eriq La Salle, Julianne Marguilies and he-who-shall-not-be-named returning to Country General tonight, we officially give-in! Seriously NBC, you win. We’re back on the ER bandwagon.

February 24th, 2009

That noise you just heard was the squee of three million or so SUPERNATURAL fangirls learning that their favorite Winchester brothers, alongside GOSSIP GIRL, ONE TREE HILL, 90210, AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL and SMALLVILLE have all been given early renewals for next season by The CW.

“As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity,” said The CW president Dawn Ostroff in a statement released to the media. “By securing these signature hits for next season, we’re furthering our commitment to deliver high-quality, original programming to our viewers, advertisers and affiliates.”

A TV Addict How-To: Be a Hugely Successful Television Reporter

February 24th, 2009

If yesterday’s “GREY’S ANATOMY Shocker” courtesy of EW’s super-scooper Michael Ausiello taught this TV Addict anything, it’s that on a slow news day, there is apparently nothing wrong with just making stuff up.

Which is why, as a public service to anyone looking to be the next Michael Ausiello, Kristin Dos Santos, Korbi Gosh and/or Matt (really, what happened to the Webb?) Mitovich, we at theTVaddict.com thought now would be as good a time as any to fill you all in on how it works.

Step #1: Find a logline (that’s industry speak for an episode description) for an upcoming episode of your favorite show. Preferably one with a passionate and vocal internet fan base such as SUPERNATURAL, SMALLVILLE and/or GREY’S ANATOMY.

Step #2: Parse out a sentence, phrase or detail from the episode description that will be sure to send fans in a tizzy. No need to bother with silly things such as context or you know, what actually happens in the story-line.

Step #3: Write it up, press ‘post’ and watch your competition embarrassingly scramble to put together their own version of the exact same non-story. (see here and here).

Yup, it’s that easy! Don’t believe us? Check out our Exclusive! Breaking! TV Scoop that you simply have to see with your own eyes to believe… after the jump: Read the rest of this entry »

First Look: SUPERNATURAL “Death Takes a Holiday”

February 19th, 2009

Since this TV Addict knows that SUPERNATURAL fans are non to happy about having to wait until March 12 for their favorite Winchester Bros. to return, we thought we’d share some first look photos from “Death Takes a Holiday.”

Tonight’s TV Addictions: February 5, 2009

February 5th, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
UGLY BETTY (8PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
Daniel’s got something to hide, and Betty is caught up in family matters. In other words, just another day in her world. On the plus side, that cute neighbor of Betty’s seems to be taking a renewed interested in her, so maybe things are looking up.

THE OFFICE (9PM NBC, Global in Canada)
Ugh. Michael goes on yet another road trip. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Pam is along for the ride this time instead of Dwight. But I’m not 100% convinced even she can make Michael more palatable at this point.

SUPERNATURAL (9PM CW)
A sexy siren (is there any other kind?) lures three men to their doom. And when the Winchester boys investigate, it’s brother-vs-brother thanks to the evil temptress!

GREY’S ANATOMY (9PM ABC, CTV in Canada)
Having apparently not learned a thing from every other doctor or intern at Seattle Grace, Lexie demands that she and Mark make their relationship public. Meanwhile, having not learned a thing from his girlfriend’s nearly psychotic narcissistic whining, Derek tries figuring out just the right way to propose. (Dude, trust us: No matter what you do, she’ll kevetch about it later.)

30 ROCK (9:30PM NBC, CityTV in Canada)
Can the unlucky-in-love Liz Lemon finally get her act together and impress her sexy new neighbor (special guest Jon Hamm)? Yeah, wouldn’t bet on it.

PRIVATE PRACTICE (10PM NBC, “A” in Canada)
Crossover alert! When Addison’s brother has a seizure, she calls in ex-hubby Derek (of GREY’S ANATOMY) for a consult. Translation: This show is in trouble, and they need to lure in viewers any way they can. Ha! You can’t fool us, sly ABC executives!

An Open Letter to the Winchester Brothers

February 5th, 2009

supernatural
By: The REEL Addict

Dear Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki,

As you two know, I’m a great admirer of your show SUPERNATURAL, and the consistent acting talent you display on it. With the emotional and dramatic range you guys bring to each and every episode, you’ve helped turned a show that could have potentially been little more than shallow, gimmicky horror-movie-a-week-fest into something richer. You’ve ensured that SUPERNATURAL is not a series about the supernatural so much as the people fighting the supernatural. People who are dramatic, and complex, and whom you bring to emotional life with your performances.

You prove yourselves to be nothing less than great actors, ones who deserve a successful, rewarding career beyond the boob tube and on the big screen.

Which brings us to the problem at hand.

First Look: Young Sam and Dean Winchester

January 14th, 2009

young sam dean winchester

On the January 29th episode of SUPERNATURAL titled “After School Special,” Sam and Dean go undercover to investigate a haunting at one of the high schools they attended as a teenager which sparks a flashback, causing them to recall how a young Sam (Colin Ford) was picked on by the school bully while Dean was Mr. Popular (Brock Kelly). Which if you ask us, sounds like the exact plot (minus all those gruesome demons) of one of our all-time favorite WB shows, JACK & BOBBY. Too bad Sam and Dean Winchester can’t bring that brilliant-but-cancelled favorite back from the dead.
