I’ve been cheating on Homer Simpson with Kevin Pollak.

What’s worse is we met online, it’s happened more than once and oh yeah… did I mention I can’t stop?

Our relationship started a few Sundays back when word got out (via twitter, naturally) that an old friend, Matthew Perry was dropping by Kevin Pollak’s new chat show.

Now I know what you’re thinking, Kevin Pollak has a chat show?

As it would turn out, he does.

Currently shooting in his hometown of Los Angeles in partnership with the internet’s most tireless promoter, Mahalo.com founder Jason Calacanis, kevinpollakschatshow.com shoots every Sunday evening at 8PM est (5PM pst) and features in-depth interviews with actors (including MAD MEN’s John Hamm and THE WEST WING’s Josh Malina), internet personalties (including Diggnation’s Alex Albrecht and The Guild’s Felicia Day) and comedians (including Adam Carolla and Dana Carvey)

It’s unedited, unpolished and unfiltered, meaning anything can happen… and usually does!

Take CRIMINAL MINDS star Paget Brewster, who gave the following brutally honest answer to what it feels like to jump from the critically acclaimed albeit brilliant-but-cancelled ANDY RICHTER CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE to the inexplicably popular CBS snoore-fest procedural CRIMINAL MINDS:

“Now I’m on a show [CRIMINAL MINDS] that’s in the top 10 every week yet nobody’s heard of it here [in Los Angeles]. It’s like NCIS, a bread and butter CBS show. We’re on Wednesday night at 10 o’clock. Every show they put up against us we annihilate. Shows that are nominated for Emmys. We are this donkey of a show, we’re at the Disney ranch eating hot dogs, no one’s gotten a raise in four years, i don’t know if there is even overtime yet we deliver every week. They [Disney] just keeps cutting our budget, ‘Take another leg off that donkey. It will still make it across the border!’ It’s crazy! Show’s with one tenth of the viewrship have these fancy parties, people get paid a fortune and all of us are like, “WTF?!”

It’s that kind of unexpected honesty that you’ll never see on any televised chat-fest (as Pollak told guest and longtime pal Dana Carvey on a recent episode, “When we go on talk shows, it’s not to share our stories. It never is. You’ve got to kill in six minutes, and every second counts) and that’ll keep you coming back for more.

Also known as reason #452 why the big five network should be afraid… be very afraid.

Seeing as the networks seem completely unable to launch a show that isn’t either part of a successful franchise or ripped-off from the English, we’d like to humbly suggest they take a look at the British sitcom GREEN WING, which can currently be found on Hulu.com. Fortunately, you, the blessed readers of this site, don’t have to wait for one of the American networks to do a watered-down version as we’re pointing you toward the original and suggesting it as a fantastic way to fill the void left by summer reruns and your empty DVR que.

Set in the fictional East Hampton Hospital Trust, WING is the rare 60-minute sitcom and twice as funny as any 30-minute offering you’ll find on the American telly. The characters are indescribably quirky and the episodes so quickly paced that they remind one of the old joke often made of New England weather: If you don’t like a particular bit, never fear, the show will have offered you three more before that thought reaches your brain. This is what American television has been fruitlessly for years: a show that virtually dares you to look away, let alone channel surf. Do, and you’ll miss not just something but several somethings.

On day 3 of theTVaddcit’s Summer Survival Guide, we offer an intriguing web series from the folks at koldcast.tv titled AFTER JUDGMENT.

Missing that confused feeling you often get after an episode of LOST concludes? You know, the one where you say, “Dude, I have no idea what’s going on… but I can’t wait for the next episode!” Well, the web series AFTER JUDGMENT offers that same befuddlement in 3-4 minute segments. Trust us when we say that by the end of episode five, when a lead character says, “Yeah, I know what you’re thinking”, your response will be, “Really? Because I have no clue what to think!” And that’s part of what makes this show so addictive.

Revealing too much about the plot would be to ruin the pleasure that comes from letting the story unfold in its own extremely unusual way. What initially seems a confusing and perhaps not-very-well explained premise quickly reveals itself to be the kind of genius that borders on madness. Time means nothing in the world of AFTER JUDGMENT, and that proves to be true in more than one sense. Events unfold and then are revisited, often only an episode later, in a manner which shows them in a completely new light.

Like LOST, this is a series that both tries ones patience and rewards it. But here, the rewards come much quicker. By the seventh or eighth episode — and remember, each is less than four minutes — the mysteries begin to unfold. (A word of warning: Do not read the summary box that appears just below each episode as they serve more as a recap than a teaser.)

This is not a show for the ACCORDING TO JIM crowd. And trust us… that’s a good thing.

By the end of episode 5, when our lead says, “Yeah, I know what you’re thinking” we’re left to respond, “Really? Because I have no clue what to thinK!” And that’s part of what makes this web series so addictive.

KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL
Before THE HANGOVER propels small screen star Bradley Cooper into the big screen leading man that he so richly deserves to be, why not be the quasi-obnoxious guy/gal who can say, “I remember him when!” by checking out his 13 episode stint as brilliant bad boy chef Jack Bourdain, in the short-lived FOX series that took us behind-the-scenes of the zany and unpredictable world of New York Eateries. A behind the scenes that we should also mention features an unforgettable supporting cast including Nicholas Brendon, John Francis Daley, Jaimie King, Bonnie Somerville, Owain Yeoman, John Cho, Frank Langella, Sam Pancake and guest appearances by John Larroquette and Michael Vartan. GROSSE POINTE
Chronicling the on-screen and off-screen antics of a spoiled group of twenty-something actors that may bare a passing resemblance to the gangs from BEVERLY HILLS 90210 and DAWSON’S CREEK comes this wickedly funny and spot on satire from Darren Star, the man who practically invented the genre. Don’t believe us, see for yourself by checking out this hilarious opening scene. (Only $14.99 on Amazon)

KIDNAPPED
The best part of KIDNAPPED, aside from the well-paced story and all-star cast (including Jeremy Sisto, Timothy Hutton, Delroy Lindo and Dana Delaney to name a few) is that when NBC yanked it off the air after a mere three episodes, they did so with enough time to allow creator Jason Smilovic to craft a proper ending. Thus making this brilliant-but-cancelled series 13 episodes of suspenseful, high quality story-telling that best of all, won’t have fans pulling out their hair out and asking what happens next. SPORTS NIGHT
Aaron Sorkin’s journey behind-the-scenes of an ESPN-style Sports Centre was not only the perfect guise to deal with polarizing issues like drug abuse, steroids and racism [both on the field and off], it featured an absolutely all-star cast and a will-the-or-won’t they between Casey and Dana [Peter Krause and Felicity Huffman] that still makes us smile. EVERWOOD
And while this last pick may not exactly fall within our criteria of short-lived, now is the time to catch up on EVERWOOD’s first season, prior to the much-anticipated June 16 release of EVERWOOD season two. (Only $19.99 on Amazon)

Mary Louise Parker, America’s sexiest and arguably most irresponsible mother is back! And while critics and discerning fans have been quick to proclaim that the Botwin’s clans move to the border was a mistake of shark jumping proportions, WEEDS (alongside HBO’s ENTOURAGE, 30 ROCK and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER) remain to this day one of the only comedies that without fail, always leaves us jonesin’ for more. HUNG [HBO, June 28]
Would you pay $14.99 per month for Thomas Jane? HBO is certainly hoping that you will when you meet Ray Decker; a down-on-his-luck high school teacher who must use his best (and some might say, biggest) asset to escape from his very own personal and financial crisis. Unfortunately, on a family friendly web site, we’re not exactly at liberty to say what said asset is. Rest assured, HUNG has the makings of HBO’s next big thing (and yes, that is in fact what she said.) Also this summer on HBO: ENTOURAGE (July 12) and TRUE BLOOD (June 14)

ROYAL PAINS [USA, June 4]
What is the one thing that can get this procedural-phobic TV Addict to tune into another [insert medical/cop/lawyer] show that the cable networks can’t seem to get enough of? Two words: Mark Feuerstein. The actor who swept Ashley WIliams off her feet in the short-lived GOOD MORNING MIAMI and swept us off our feet with his unforgettable and ridiculously likable guest stint on THE WEST WING is just what the doctor ordered and coincidentally enough, what the rich and famous need in this new Hampton’s set medical drama. Also this summer on USA: BURN NOTICE (June 4), MONK & PSYCH (Summer 2009)

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU
[ABC Family, July 7]
Will 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU continue ABC Family’s winning streak that started with KYLE XY and continued with GREEK and THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER? Well, not actually having seen the pilot, we’re not entirely sure. But as fans of the underrated movie that starred the late Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, this TV Addict knows what he’ll be doing on July 7th at 8PM. Also this summer on ABC Family: GREEK, SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER (June 22), MAKE IT OR BREAK IT (June 22)

CONAN O’BRIEN [NBC, June 1]
On June 1st, following 17 years at the helm of television’s most popular late night institution, Jay Leno will officially pass the torch to Conan O’Brien. Will O’Brien tone down his zany 12:35 antics for an 11:35 show? Have we really seen the last of the Masturbating Bear? And most importantly, has O’Brien’s fair Irish complexion survived the move to California? Fans will have all summer to find out, when O’Brien finally gets to sit in the big chair and welcomes some big name guests, including Will Ferrell, Pearl Jam, Tom Hanks, Green Day, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bradley Cooper, Sheryl Crow, Gwyneth Paltrow, John Mayer, Ryan Seacrest and Chickenfoot.
