Talk about a bad week to be a child actor. Monday THE BIG BANG THEORY’s Asian Doogie Howser trades in his status as ‘the next Bill Gates” for a date with a girl. Then on BACK TO YOU, Kelly and Chuck’s daughter gets re-cast when the producers decide to ‘go in a different direction’ and finally SMALLVILLE’s Lex Luthor puts an end to Mini-Lex by tossing him in a roaring fire. Ouch!
And speaking of SMALLVILLE. Is anyone else bothered by the fact that after waiting the better part of seven seasons for Lex to finally go to the dark side, he’s being quickly written off the show due to Michael Rosenbaum’s real-life wishes to only return to the series part-time next season. Talk about a letdown of super proportions.
If you’re the type of TV Addict who can’t resist spoilers, click the link below to watch three video clips that make it pretty clear who’s going to die on Thursday’s landmark episode of SMALLVILLE.
While we at theTVaddict.com are not about to reveal which SMALLVILLE series regular will soon be joining Papa Kent in that big corn field in the sky. We will spill, that if these photos are any indication, things are not looking good for our favorite perky reporter. Click the link below for some serious spoiler filled photos from SMALLVILLE’s April 24 episode.
With todays SUPER Shocking news that SMALLVILLE creators and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar will not be guiding the show in what is shaping up to be its eighth and final season, this TV Addict thought he’d take this opportunity to irresponsiblrly speculate on some possible reasons for their departure.
POSSIBILITY #1: PRODUCT PLACEMENT FATIGUE
Apparently, Gough and Millar weren’t thrilled with next season’s plan by the CW marketing ‘gurus’ to turn the iconic Superman ‘S’ into a STRIDE gum logo.
POSSIBILITY #2: METEOR-FREAK-OF-THE-WEEK FATIGUE
Not even Braniac himself could come up 150 different ways for the denizens of Smallville to encounter those shiny green insidious rocks.
POSSIBILTIY #3: SPIN-OFF FATIGUE Gough and Millar signed on to re-imagine Clark Kent the teenager years. The show after-all is called SMALLVILLE, not GREEN ARROW VILLE, or SUPER GIRL VILLE!
POSSIBILITY #4: CREATIVE DIFFERENCES Gough and Millar wanted to bow out before the CW forced them to break the one golden rule they’ve kept for seven years, “No tights, no flights.”
POSSIBILITY #5: PRODUCT PLACEMENT FATIGUE (Part II)
We can’t stress this enough, Kryptonite Gum… Seriously?Got your own ideas for the reasons behind Gough and Millar’s departure? Irresponsible commenting is fun. Post away
Lord knows this TV Addict has seen enough SMALLVILLE, well television really, to realize that it’s never a good sign when a show’s lead character dawns a dark suit and a mournful gaze. Can’t wait to find out what the future holds for our favorite superhero-in-training? Read the rest of this entry »
That screech you just heard. The gleeful yelp of millions of girls everywhere [and yes, a few guys too].
In a press release sent minutes ago, the CW just announced early pickups of six series today. Meaning AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, ONE TREE HILL, GOSSIP GIRL, SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL and EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS have all been given early renewals and will officially return to the CW this fall.
You know what else this means? SUPERNATURAL fans, it’s really time to stop sending those Hexs Dawn Ostroff’s way. She’s done well this year.
In related news, if anyone has heard from the cast of the CW’s failed African experiment LIFE IS WILD please let us know. They’ve been on safari for a very, very, very long time.
Rather than shamelessly copy and paste all of Michael Ausiello’sintern’s hard work, this TV Addict thought he’d take the classier approach and let my fellow TV Addicts know that all you have to do in order to find out when your favorite shows are returning is to click here.
In other TV news, the CW continues to fan the flames of speculation by signing Justin Hartley [SMALLVILLE’S Green Arrow] to a talent holding deal. Not surprisingly, the network refused to comment on what exactly they’re holding him for. But if they’re smart, we should expect a GREEN ARROW spin-off announcement any moment now. That said, with the recent cancellations of VERONICA MARS and EVERWOOD [Yup, still bitter], the words ’smart’ and the ‘cw’ don’t exactly go hand-in-hand.
And finally, in sadder news. After eight seasons, the CW officially cancelled its longest running sitcom GIRLFRIENDS. When asked to comment, the show’s small yet vocal group of fans had this to say, “Yes we’re still on the air!”
Green Arrow isn’t the only superhero dropping by SMALLVILLE this Thursday. Click the link below to find out who else is wreaking havoc on Kansas’ unluckiest small town (well, second to Jericho!)
In celebration of Green Arrow’s highly anticipated return visit to SMALLVILLE this Thursday, the TV Addict has been given the opportunity to ask a few questions of SMALLVILLE executive producer and co-creator Al Gough. So go nuts posting your questions and I’ll be sure to ask the most interesting ten.
Recently, the TV Addict had the opportunity to interview SMALLVILLE stars Allison Mack and Kristin Kreuk. Why was theTVaddict.com afforded such a fantastic opportunity? Turns out Allison and Kristin are as computer savvy and cool in real-life as they are on SMALLVILLE and will soon be launching their own web site [along with BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’s Nicki Clyne and Vancouver Actress Sarah Edmondson] that will be aimed at college students. And in an effort to create the best web site possible, Allison, Kristin, Nicki and Sarah would like to hear from YOU, the fans.
Simply click here to take the short and highly entertaining survey.
The TV Addict: Before I do my best to get you to spill upcoming SMALLVILLE secrets, let’s talk about this web site you’re developing. What’s the deal?
Kristin Kreuk: The purpose of this website is to provide a bunch of services for college students as well as an environment where they can really explore themselves and what they want to see in the world. But first, we just want to get as much data as possible. That’s what the survey’s about.
Is the web site going to be a social network like Facebook or MySpace?
Allison Mack: Right now it’s a secret, but it’s something that’s never really done before.
Is this web site a project that you cooked up because you found yourself with a little free time on your hands thanks to the unfortunate WGA strike?
Allison Mack: We originally thought of the idea six months ago. But now with the strike, we’ve found ourselves with a little bit of a break to work with.
