TheTVaddict.com Week in Rewind

May 4th, 2008

THE OFFICE
Not only was spending the full twenty-two minutes at Dunder Mifflin Scranton a welcome change of pace from the recent over-the-top zany antics of Michael Scott. It gave the Dunder Mifflin denizens a welcome opportunity to shine. Stanley’s tour-de-force performance aside, anyone else curious as to what Phyllis the delinquent teenage vandal immortalized in cement all those years ago? Because you just know she was a wild child!

HOUSE
Even with the new team and the return of Cutthroat Bitch, this TV Addict can’t seem to get excited for HOUSE anymore. Is it just me, or are we watching virtually the same show each and every week? Diagnose, Snarky Comment, Cure, Repeat.

THE BIG BANG THEORY
As a stare blankly at my ridiculously large collection of Entertainment Weekly magazines [quite literally, almost every one], this recovering eBay Addict couldn’t help but laugh sympathize with Leonard, Sheldon, Wolowitz and Raj’s Time Machine predicament.

SMALLVILLE
It should come as no surprise that television’s most frustratingly uneven series relied on the tired and clichéd “It’s a Wonderful Life” plot contrivance for their very special 150th episode. Talk about your super lack of creativity.

Lex Luthor Officially Exits SMALLVILLE

May 1st, 2008

Michael Rosenbaum, who has played Lex Luthor for six seasons on SMALLVILLE, is officially leaving the show according to a joint statement from the powers that be released to the press just minutes ago. “It has been an honor and pleasure to work with Michael for the past seven seasons. He is one of the best actors on television and has never failed to bring a new layer to the character of Lex Luthor in every episode. While Michael won’t be a series regular and we won’t have the pleasure of working with him on a weekly basis this fall, we like to think that we haven’t seen the last of Lex Luthor. Stay tuned.”

Additionally, in a somewhat surprising move — yet one that might quash fan’s fears about the show’s ‘Lexless’ future — the producers of SMALLVILLE have made it clear that they’re already planning to fill the massive void left by an absentee Lex by adding two new villains to the cast. In season eight, Clark will face his ultimate challenge with the appearance of the legendary, unstoppable destroyer Doomsday. As well as a new female villain who producers say will be really hot familiar to many fans and will set her sights on Clark in ways Lex never could.

Lex Luthor For President!

lex luthor for president

With tonight’s 150th episode SMALLVILLE extravaganza revolving around the classic television story-telling device: What if [insert lead character] never existed, the above photo has been haunting me all week long. What campaign slogan did President Lex Luthor cook up to get elected? Because the best we could come up with was “An Oval Head for an Oval Office!” Got something better? Post away.

April 27th, 2008

tom welling clark kent

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman — finally donning his iconic ‘disguise’ on Thursday’s special 150th episode titled, “Apocalypse”. But don’t let the glasses fool you, Clark hasn’t lost his super sight, he’s simply discovering what life would have been like if he had never arrived on earth.

Random Musings: SMALLVILLE, 30 ROCK and ELI STONE

April 18th, 2008

Talk about a bad week to be a child actor. Monday THE BIG BANG THEORY’s Asian Doogie Howser trades in his status as ‘the next Bill Gates” for a date with a girl. Then on BACK TO YOU, Kelly and Chuck’s daughter gets re-cast when the producers decide to ‘go in a different direction’ and finally SMALLVILLE’s Lex Luthor puts an end to Mini-Lex by tossing him in a roaring fire. Ouch!

And speaking of SMALLVILLE. Is anyone else bothered by the fact that after waiting the better part of seven seasons for Lex to finally go to the dark side, he’s being quickly written off the show due to Michael Rosenbaum’s real-life wishes to only return to the series part-time next season. Talk about a letdown of super proportions.

We Irresponsibly Speculate on the SMALLVILLE Shake Up

April 3rd, 2008

smallville cast

With todays SUPER Shocking news that SMALLVILLE creators and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar will not be guiding the show in what is shaping up to be its eighth and final season, this TV Addict thought he’d take this opportunity to irresponsiblrly speculate on some possible reasons for their departure.

POSSIBILITY #1: PRODUCT PLACEMENT FATIGUE
Apparently, Gough and Millar weren’t thrilled with next season’s plan by the CW marketing ‘gurus’ to turn the iconic Superman ‘S’ into a STRIDE gum logo.

POSSIBILITY #2: METEOR-FREAK-OF-THE-WEEK FATIGUE
Not even Braniac himself could come up 150 different ways for the denizens of Smallville to encounter those shiny green insidious rocks.

POSSIBILTIY #3: SPIN-OFF FATIGUE
Gough and Millar signed on to re-imagine Clark Kent the teenager years. The show after-all is called SMALLVILLE, not GREEN ARROW VILLE, or SUPER GIRL VILLE!

POSSIBILITY #4: CREATIVE DIFFERENCES
Gough and Millar wanted to bow out before the CW forced them to break the one golden rule they’ve kept for seven years, “No tights, no flights.”

POSSIBILITY #5: PRODUCT PLACEMENT FATIGUE (Part II)
We can’t stress this enough, Kryptonite Gum… Seriously?Got your own ideas for the reasons behind Gough and Millar’s departure? Irresponsible commenting is fun. Post away
