Thanks to our inexplicable need to point out actors who remind us of, well other actors, comes our latest separated at birth: Former TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES star Thomas Dekker and current SMALLVILLE guest star David Gallagher, who will next be seen swooping into Metropolis on November 13 playing one-half of “The Wonder Twins.” Thoughts?

7th HEAVEN’s David Gallagher may not be in Glen Oak anymore, but he certainly hasn’t forgotten the lessons of the good Reverend Camden. How else to explain his decision to drop by Metropolis as one half of “The Wonder Twins” (alongside Allison Scagliotti) to help The Blur fight crime in the upcoming November 13 episode of SMALLVILLE? After nine seasons of ominous voice-overs, Clark Kent will finally get the opportunity to meet his father in the flesh. On the November 6th episode of SMALLVILLE entitled “Kandor,” Jor-El (played by special guest star Julian Sands) mysteriously arrives at the Kent farm in search of his son, Kal-El, only to meet Chloe instead. SMALLVILLE star Cassidy Freeman is used to getting recognized, although it may surprise you to learn just who she is used to getting recognized for.

“In her day my mom looked a lot like Cybill Shepherd,” explained Freeman during an interview this week with the TV Addict. “And when I attended THE L WORD farewell party, a producer came up to me and was like, “Hey Clementine’ and I was like ‘that’s not my name!”

Luckily for Freeman, her days of getting mixed up with Cybill Shepherd’s daughter are long behind her. Especially now that the actress has just begun her sophomore SMALLVILLE season playing morally ambiguous (not to mention fan favorite ) Lex Luthor disciple Tess Mercer.

“It’s nice to come back to work and not be the fish out of water that I felt like the first few weeks last season,” explained the actor. “Now I try to make as much fun as [newcomer] Callum Blue as I can.”

But hopefully not too much fun. As this season Freeman will be spending an awful lot of time with Callum Blue’s Zod, in search of what else: Power, control, you know, just a few of Tess Mercer’s favorite things.

“Tess is pretty power hungry,” explained Freeman of her character’s motivations. “Her relationship with Zod may be flirtatious in the way they interact with each other, but it’s really all about the power. Leave the romance for Lois.”

Which is not to say the actress would object to being swept off her fleet.

“Whether it’s in reality or fiction, who doesn’t want to be romanced? I think it would be fun and also lend itself to showing a softer side of Tess that she doesn’t feel like she can show.”

That said, Freeman (who is signed on to SMALLVILLE through 2011 and is happy to stick around with the series as long as the producers will have her) revealed that she’s only too happy to play with what the writers give her… particularly after spending her previous few years flying from project to project.

“Getting to know the cast and crew, working with the same people week after week for nine months of the year, it’s a real job, different then guest starring, but stable and nice to know who you’re going to work with everyday,” said Freeman, adding, “Plus every-time I walk into my trailer and see this leather couch I can’t believe this is for me!”

Of course, should one particular show come-a-calling, the actress would run faster than a speeding bullet.

“My new love is GLEE, it’s hilarious and if I could pass for a high school student, I would walk my way onto the set.”

Which we only feel the need to remind you thanks to the CW’s super-lacklustre (nonexistent?) marketing campaign for any show that isn’t a reboot of an Aaron Spelling classic or involves vampires. Oh, and no, we’re not just bitter that the network completely ignored our free and sound advertising advice. Okay fine, maybe a little.

It’s a bird.. it’s a plane… it’s not under any circumstances…
… for legal reason super-you-know-who. But that aside, in ever other sense of the word, the ninth season of SMALLVILLE truly marks the ascension of Clark to superhero status. Faster than a speeding bullet, and decked out in a black trench coat that may-or-may-not have been ‘borrowed’ from the set of TORCHWOOD comes Kal-El. Who when he’s not spending time in the fortress of solitude learning “Superhero’ing For Dummies” from his Kryptonian father Jor-El, is saving innocent Metropolis bystanders and of course Lois (who naturally can’t seem to stay out of trouble) complete with his now iconic “S” as a calling card. (Turns out, engraving ‘Red Blue Blur” not only takes way too long, it causes too much damage!)

SMALLVILLE hasn’t forgotten about Chloe:
Which is kind of awkward because Clark certainly seems to. Luckily for Chloe (and fans of Allison Mack), she has Dr. Emil Hamilton (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’s Alessandro Juliani) and a snazzy new headquarters, a literal Watchtower (also known as the best wedding gift ever, left by dearly deceased Jimmy) to help aid her in discovering where Lois disappeared to… and more importantly, what exactly followed Lois back to Metropolis!

And speaking of Lois:
You will not want to miss tonight’s final scene, where Lois has her very own flash forward of sorts, offering up a tantalizing tease of things to come. Including: A shirtless super make-out session, a shocking possible death and somebody you would not expect to be kneeling before Zod.

Kneel Before Zod:
Yes, Zod has arrived. Just don’t ask us why! That said, of this we are sure: (a) He does not arrive alone. And (b) British import Callum Blue is the perfect choice to play the iconic baddie who in the season premiere gives the once and possibly still villainous Tess a run for her money.

Call us a super optimist, but the more we see from the new season of SMALLVILLE, the more we’re thinking about jumping back on the bandwagon. How about you?

As the saying goes, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.
