Good News: Justin Hartley has officially signed on as a series regular for SMALLVILLE’s eighth and most likely final season. Bad New: SMALLVILLE has now officially officially run out of new ideas. [Source]
Good News: IN PLAIN SIGHT opened to a whopping 5.3 million viewers, USA’s best series bow since the second season premiere of the 4400 in 2005. Bad News: Which means fellow TV Addicts can expect even more generic dramas featuring female cop/lawyer/doctor protagonists that play by her own rules. [Source]
Good News: TERMINATOR, PUSHING DAISIES, FRINGE, CHUCK, HEROES and THE OFFICE Scribes [rumored] are all said to be presenting panels at this Summer’s Comic Con in San Diego. Bad News: Odds are good that they’ll all be on the same day, so you should probably start lining up right now. No really. It’s going to be madness!
Good News: This TV Addict has been lucky enough to get a sneak peak at the new online portal for theWB.com. Bad News: EVERWOOD and JACK & BOBBY are thus far no where to be found.
Good News: Michael Ausiello’s Senior Editor position has yet to be filled at TVGuide. Bad News: Clearly, TVGuide’s Editor-in-Chief Christy Tanner does not have her name set as a Google Alert and has completely missed my quasi-shameless campaign

Wish you could experience Comic Con without even stepping foot in San Diego? Well thanks to the wonder that is the internet, you sort of can. Throughout the week, fellow TV Addicts have been posting video featuring some of the weekend’s best moments and I thought I’d take a moment and share some of them with you. Think of it as the next best thing to being there — minus the endless lines, overpriced food and life-size stormtroopers.

While the line surrounding Winchester Brother Jensen Ackles was by far the longest line that this TV Addict witnessed during last weekend’s Comic Con, a close second was the crowd huddled around the ABC Family booth clamoring to meet the cast of KYLE XY. Click the link below for more photos, with apologies in advance for the quality. It isn’t easy fighting your way through a group of rabid teenage girls.

With Comic Con officially over, all that this TV Addict is left with — aside from somewhat of a sunburn and far too much swag — are questions. With that in mind, I thought I’d through a few out knowing full well my readers are far smarter than a fifth grader me.
1. With the announcement that Zachary Quinto has been cast as the new Spock, where does that leave the character of Sylar on HEROES?
2. At the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA panel, showrunner Ronald D. Moore promised that there would be a lot of Adama/Starbuck interaction in the January 2008 series premiere. Which Adama was he referring to?
3. Did Jared Padelecki REALLY miss his flight to Comic Con? Or was he simply terrified of being trampled by 10,000 screaming fans. Honestly, having walked by the SUPERNATURAL booth, I really wouldn’t blame him either way.
4. Was anyone else surpised how much Tricia Helfer (BSG’S Six) resembled Julia Roberts (specifically in the giant smile area!).
5. With the anouncement that Kevin Smith will direct the first installment of HEROES: ORIGINS, is anyone willing to put money down that JJ Abrams will be next in line (Greg Grunberg promised he’d put in a good word).
6. Which of the HEROES cast members that attended this year’s HEROES panel will be missing from next years?
7. Does anyone else find it odd that two British actresses (Michelle Ryan and Lena Headey) will be playing two of America’s most iconic female heroines this coming season. (The Bionic Woman and Sarah Connor respectively).

While Jason Smilovic may not be a household name, to this TV Addict, he just so happens to be the man responsible for last season’s most exciting [and short-lived] drama KIDNAPPED. So when Amrie [of My Take on TV fame] spotted him walking down the aisle following Saturday’s BIONIC WOMAN panel, this TV Addict couldn’t pass up the opportunity to thank him for his work on the show and joke with him about the show’s brilliant yet maddening ending (One that I’m not about to spoil here!) Needless to say, Jason was very appreciative and thanked me for being the only loyal viewer outside of his immediate family.
Missed KIDNAPPED entirely? You can buy the complete series — fantastic ending included — at Amazon by clicking here.

Hoping to capitalize on the super hero hype surrounding Comic Con, the CW Network has released two new photos of the new SuperGirl, actress Laura Vandervoort. Speaking to SCI FI Wire at this weekend’s Comic Con, Vandervoort had this to say about her character and what it feels like to join such an established show.
On her relationship with Clark: “On Krypton, I was older than him. He was a baby. We were both sent to Earth, and I got trapped in suspended animation and didn’t age. I come out of my ship looking for a baby, and see this 6-foot-3-inch beautiful man, and I don’t believe that is him.”
On her first day on the set: “I am just finishing the first episode ‘Bizarro. The first day I was shaking in my boots, literally. I was wearing boots. But I’m not in the suit. I come in something else, which you will see.”

After a fantastic week in Los Angeles and San Diego, the party (as my mom used to say upon my arrival home from camp) is officially over. The TV Addict is back home in Toronto (Canada) and all I’ve got to show for it — aside from tons of photos, stories and celebrity encounters — are the memories. Or to be more specific, recaps of the SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES panel (best panel ever!), HEROES, BATTLESTAR and much much more.
To start us off, here’s a photo from the TV Addict’s first ever surf lesson (Kudos to the photographer for managing to capture the one moment I actually stayed on the board!). While things like ‘coherent storytelling’ and ‘character development’ may not be JOHN FROM CINCINNATI’S strong suit — the show is good for one thing. It inspired me to want to learn how to surf! Who says TV isn’t good for something?

This year’s BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Panel was all about the ladies. Joining Showrunners Ronald D. Moore and David Eick on stage were Tricia Helfer (Six), Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck), Mary McDonnell (President Roslin) and one surprise guest. To discover who dropped by the panel, click the link below. (Spoilers Ahead!)

Knowing how dedicated SUPERNATURAL fans are, I knew I couldn’t leave Comic Con without snagging at least one photo of the Winchester Boys. Make that Winchester BOY, as Jared couldn’t make it since he missed his flight. So here they are — the best I could do. Really. I apologize for the poor quality, but rest assured I quite literally risked life and limb to get as close as I could. Thousands of screaming fans… where’s a demon hunter when you need one?

With mere minutes before the start of the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA panel I just wanted to pass along some exciting HEROES news. KEVIN SMITH has just signed on to direct the first HEROES: ORIGINS story. Proclaiming to an enthusastic Comic Con audience that while he’s thrilled to be taking part in the HEROES story, he was disappointed that he wasn’t going to get to write about the two ‘gay heroes’ — Ando and Hiro! Yes folks, Kevin Smith is the funniest man alive. Stay Tuned for more…
